Rosemary (Aug 19, 2005)
This is the flag of the county of Yorkshire in England (where i live)...the white Rose has been the sign of Yorkshire since the 1400's (the war of the roses) ...sometimes they also show the flag as a white rose with blue background...or rose with a crown ontop.. :) just thought i'd draw it lol

Oh, very cool. I like the faint shading around the edges of the flower and the dimension it adds. I just made a purse that looks something like this, off this amazing pattern that I found: Link!
Rosemary (Aug 22, 2005)
thanks lycene great link :) yeah the Tudor Rose as made after the war of the roses that was a war between Yorkshire (white rose) and Lancashire (red rose) afterwards they united the two counties by creating the tudor rose with 2 rings of petals...one red..one white.. :) i always loved tudor history lol
davincipoppalag (Aug 22, 2005)

This started out as something completely different & mutated into this but I am pleased with the outcome even if it is a bit odd.
Edit: I tweaked it ^_^

lycene (Aug 22, 2005)
I really like the background on this. The floating island thingies and the clouds are very cool, and his skin tone is very well done.
Queen_Asheer5600 (Oct 1, 2005)
I like the longing look he has in his eyes, and the little trinkets he has on his forehead and ears =D It's a really nice touch with the body and everything. I was never the best at drawing humanoids (Computer or Traditionally) and this is truely stunning =D Keep up the great work *claps*
woah_pockster (Oct 16, 2005)
mmh yummy collar bone <33 The face could use a bit of work *at stated in earlier comments* but I love your shading <3

I can't help but wonder: Why is this not in showcase? This is amazing, I love the shine on the shoes. Very realistic, and I like it alot better without legs.

davincipoppalag (Aug 20, 2005)
Looks like a sunny, hot, humid, and hazy day to me. That looks like a "HAM" radio antenna through the haze. The tree looks real..good job

Thanks everybody!! But I kinda dno't know how to do realism, anybody got any tips?
lycene (Aug 19, 2005)
Erm... I'm no expert on realism, but you've got the basics down. I watched the animation, and you started by blocking the main colors in, which is definitely the way to start. Then you started using the blur tool, which, while useful at times, isn't the best in a pic like this. The dodge and burn tools are also dangerous when not used carefully. I much prefer to choose a darker shade of the same or a slightly different color. It's a little extra work, but it shows and gives the picture much more depth. Don't be afraid to shade with unconventional colors--if you're using a ref, and you see the colors there, they will work in the painting. For the fur on your cat, I'd take a very small brush at a low opacity and make short strokes in the basic color you want. Then, add darker tones in the same method. After that, work on the highlights, same way. The best thing that I can say about painting realism is--paint exactly what you see. Sometimes people have a an archetype in their heads, but if you work from that, the proportions can get all wonky and end up looking weird. I always second-guess myself when I'm painting. I hold the ref up, look at it sideways, upside down, whatever, to make sure I've gotten it the way it is. It takes a bit of practice, but with the start you already have, you should do very well. Good luck!
pikagirl (Aug 19, 2005)
Thank you. I'll try to work on that.:)

hehe, sorry to disappoint, but it's a girl :P
Eh, I was just feeling a lil bit down 'cause I know I didn't do as well on my organic chem final as I hoping...and yesterday mornin', I burned my toast and my finger on the stupid toaster-oven (not bad though, only annoying...just stung for a while) and theennn a power outage caused me to lose 5+ hrs of art (why didn't I save it?!? ugh ugh)
KH44N (Aug 19, 2005)
Very nice. The hair looks awesome, the eyes look fantastic, and the background... couldn't look any better. Good use of colours!

o___O You make me sad as an artist. That was a massive blow to my self confinence. I love the detail. It looks like a photo of a flamingo behind the black filter.
laurael (Sep 10, 2005)
Love the feather detail around the eye...you go, Anna! (I like your writing too...)
LasRever (Sep 12, 2005)
Oh so cool! I see your building up the suspense for the final unveiling. :) Heh do you have any of those plastic flamingos in your front lawn? I wonder who started that and why...

Rawr, she looks like one fierce feline.
I love this, it looks like a one pixel brush with blend checked... which is a good thing.. gives it a neat effect, and normally I don't like 'scratchy' stuff, but you managed to pull it off, excellent work!
nekodesu (Aug 19, 2005)
I love how it looks like it was done with oil paint. And my cat is just as fat...we overfeed him XP
