Specialty Boards/Elite Bastards
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 16, 2006)
I haven't felt much inspiration to paint anything lately, and I kinda had the blahs and felt sad, so I was browsing photos of polar bears because that always cheers me up. They do so many cute, funny things and I end up laughing instead of feeling sad. I ran across this and wanted to paint it because of the pretty lighting. I love polar bears the bestest. I want one of my own but it's too hot here and it would just eat me anyway.

Omg, bahaha

Why is she so scared of polar bears?
ginny_91 (Mar 27, 2006)
Wow you are one of the best artist ever. I cannot believe this is a painting and on the computer. I'm not a bear lover but in this picture I think I sunddenly like them now!^^
Artiste (Apr 3, 2006)
My favorite thing about this is the way you painted the shadow on the face of the bear in the back. The transluscent quality shows such depth.
The colors are so sensitive, and palpable... (I love the way that orange next to pale lavendar happens so distinctly in nature)

Ok, so it ended up not being really all that anime-like. More of a freakish hybrid. It was fun working on it though.

This literally made me laugh outloud. What a face! You do the best eyes. They always have that 3-D liquid lens look.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 16, 2006)
I can despise cats and still think this is a very good work of art, right? Right. HISSSSS stupid kitty kitty.
comd (edited Mar 17, 2006)
Very nice! I love the detail of the fur and the eyes. The way you carved his/her face out from a lump of fur from v3 to v4 is a very cool technique.

Her face looks real, her hair, kimono, and hand look painted, and the folded up thing looks like it was done by a kid.
Don't get me wrong or nothing, I think this is a beautiful picture. That's just what it looks like to me.

Decided to go for some realism in a painterly way. I used a photo from a magazine as reference.

Doh! I went way past the 400 kilobyte limit. No chance for revision.

Try also squinting and looking at this; pretty cool.
I think you must have a good eye for colors and shapes if you can manage to get such a close photo-quality picture out of scribbles.

Yet another one I forgot to comment on. That water is so amazing you can hear the surf. I'm guessing that shadow is a mountain or cliff? Really stunning emma.
