I thought it was all pretty easy, all up through high school. It's college that really kills me. I've gotten so lazy with not doing as much hw, I have a hard time trying to study for tests (which usually make up a very good chunk, if not all, of your overall grade).

Niel: So true. D= Aside from papers and journals for english, there are practically no assignments. Btw. All that studying did NOTHING for me on the test. Stupid teacher put stuff on OTHER chapters when she specifically told the class that she was only putting material on Certain chapters. Everyone's going to complain to her Wednesday. >=[

I've heard of profs doing that before but can't remember it ever happening to me. Last semester, though, I had a prof who was 40 minutes late for the final exam. 40 minutes! We were literally walking out the door as he arrived. And then he just gave us blank sheets of printer paper to write our answers on. I'm pretty certain he just made the entire exam up on the spot.

Recording my personal observations about the forearm. Note that these are just my personal notes based on things I've observed by looking at multiple pictures from my anatomy book, and I'm not sure they are 100% correct, though they appear to hold true for all the cases I've seen. I'm using my anatomy book as reference for the anatomy. I couldn't find these exact poses of the arm and hand, but found some pictures that were close enough.The ulna and radius seem to remain fairly stationary as the forearm rotates around the area where they connect to the humerus. The axis of rotation appears to pass through the individual centers of these two bones around these areas, and thus the bones simply rotate in place around the elbow without shifting position. At the wrist, however, the two pivot axises of these bones appear to converge around the center of the wrist, and so the position of the bones change primarily around the wrist where the pivot is no longer centered inside the bones, but outside the bones at the center of the wrist.

Oh thanks - you all are too nice. :) I'm not sure I got the exact shape of those bones right. I was looking at references but the slight curves of these bones are very complex to me: I think I might have simplified and straightened them too much. Basically the notes here are regarding the pivot axises of the two forearm bones. When I grab hold of my elbow and rotate my wrist, I can feel that the bones remain stationary around the elbow area because they're rotating in place there. However, they very obviously don't remain stationary at the wrist since they're not rotating in place there, but rather around the center of the wrist. I think it makes sense when drawing these bones to first start drawing around the wrist area, and then extend the bones to connect at the fixed positions around the elbow joint.

close, but the radius is bigger towards the wrist :) you can feel that one sticking out by your thumb (that parts called the "styloid process" which the french kids remember because it sticks out like like the tip of a pen, or "stylo" in french) we got to play with real ones in labs all the time. it was so interesting.

Ah - I'm pretty sure the proportions are off in other areas as well. :( I think the scapula is a bit small too, and maybe the humerus as well. I wasn't quite sure how the humerus connected to the scapula also, so I also kind of winged it, but mainly I wanted to record how things rotate here in the forearm since I just figured out the basic pivot axises for the two bones today after looking at a bunch of drawings and feeling my own arm as I rotated it. Hopefully that part is semi-accurate.

Which i am...but that's beside the point.All i was trying to say was that maybe you should spend some more time on your pictures and actually try to improve your proportions. If you know whats wrong with it, try and fix it, dont just ignore it and the people seeing it too. 11 minutes on a picture is not long enough to begin to improve. It may seem like a long time when you are actually in the applet, but if you only spend said amount on time on something, there's going to be things wrong with it, and we arent afraid to point them out.

I think you shoud look up a reference to look off of as you draw, so you'll get the details, character anatomy, character design etc. down.You may also want to clean up your lines, and experiment with layers so you can color it without going over the lineart that you've drawn.

I've never been good with using layers, and I KNOW how to draw Scar, it's just it's MUCH harder on the computer, I WORSHIP Scar!!

layers are easy to use, and you'll need to get used to them to survive a digital art community. just think of layers as clear plastic sheets and you can draw something different on each one to make a picture. usually someone will draw lines on the top layer and then move to the next layer down for colouring/shading, so you dont affect the lines when youre adding colours.please please please experiment with the tools more before posting. there is so much more you can do with different tools. additionally, spending 5-10 minutes on a lot of pictures usually isnt a good idea. try spending all the time you would draw that many pictures in working extremely hard on just the one picture. regardless if you know how to draw something, a reference picture never hurts. sure, i can picture a person in my head but untill i look at a reference i dont know for sure every little detail. |

So, who would be interested in a 2draw-con? It'd probably be here in New Mexico, maybe sometime in the Spring. If there is interest of course. Probably raffles, contests, and just general hanging out. Probably plenty of cool free and secret shit that you'd have to come to get. Who knows. 2draw merch maybe? Just throwing the idea out there, post your thoughts. p.s. probably the biggest issue is location and "getting there." feel free to post your thoughts on that, as well. p.p.s. ...
