Kloxboy (edited Jan 7, 2007)
Contest Week 41: Cartoon Painting - 11 day contest Your goal these next 11 days is to paint a cartoon character in the style of a painter from the lists below. For instance, you might pick the cartoon character Betty Boop and paint her in the style of Raphael. I highly suggest you research the cartoon character you're going to paint and the style of the artist you'll be painting the character in. **You must pick from the lists provided below, if you break this rule, your entry will not...

Awww, thank you!
sincity, hi!
Wow...Cindy...that compliment really brightened my day. :)

Sorry, you guys - I've been soooo busy. (I'll be back after finals and my performance, hopefully. Unless the five page website I'm commissioned to do takes all my time, along with the job I already have. Heh.)

Haha, this is probably Mario if he ever went back to medieval times ;) (just give him a red cap, and voila!).
Cute and funny :).

OCD
fleeting_memory (Mar 16, 2004)
Twisting tunnels and endless halls
Filled with echoes and emptiness
No one's there, no one can see the way it is
No one can hear the hollow calls
Nothing can compare to this
Lost and spinning in despair
A sea of starchy white
Ceiling coming down too fast
Closing in from everywhere
Help me please-let me out
I can't take it anymore
Reach out your hand to pull me up
From crying on the floor
-Me

Edit: Forget it, everytime I try to revise it screws the screen up, I'll just leave it like this-her hair's not done but the skecchy stuff is supposed to be that way. It's supposed to be in the mind of someone with OCD (obssesive compulsive disorder)

lol, this reminds me of that X-files episode where a guy/woman grabs the heart out of a guy/woman. This looks like what happens after he/she gives her the heart and now he's after this girl :P. Funny idea here. I like the whole confused look on her face ;).

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the diciples were together with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The diciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
John 20:19-20

This makes me cringe...cause not too long ago, in anthro class, we watched this video on this cultural thing where a guy gets crucified; and yes, they zoomed in on the palm and showed them driving a large nail into his palm :(.
As for your efforts, I think this turned out pretty well :). I mean....it did make me cringe, right? lol...(I know I know, you're probably gonna say something like, "you could have covered your eyes during the video..." but I just couldn't look away, bleh)

Anyway, I hope you had a nice Easter yourself :). Glad to see you drew some more...
Nyuusen (edited Apr 21, 2006)
The nails on Jesus' went through his palms but in normal curcifixions, which they did many times in various histories (Roman, Greek, etc.) the nail traditionally went through the wrists and ankles.

Or so i've read. The shading looks weird and the blood kind of looks like ribbons but it's better than i could do. So kudos.
woah_pockster (Apr 29, 2006)
hey did you know judas may have not been all that bad? =]
there's a gospel of judas that was found and they restored it and it was 13 pages long.
it says that judas was asked by jesus to do all that stuff.
and no I'm not christian or anything. I barely know anything about the religion. I learned this in my "myth magic monster and mystery" class. we watched a documentary on this.
I'm buddhist kthnx. christianity and other monotheistic religions confuse me.

I suppose that is somewhat ironic. lol Nice Job. The keys look awesome. I wonder what the fear of saxophones is
Gigandas (May 7, 2006)
Yay, FM placed 3rd! *huge smile*
I'm so proud of ya :). I mean, you put in the effort and it payed off. I'm still amazed at those rings just below the mouthpiece. You know, you should do a picture with several brass and woodwind instruments! You know you could do it if you can draw a flute this well ;) (well, there is the patience issue, but I still think ya can :). Congrats!
Wild_Mustang_Girl312 (May 9, 2006)
Love this drawing.... nice texture....a couple of my friends play the flute....
(violins are sooooo much better :P Fred teh 2nd (meh violin) rocks my Irish socks!!!!)
EngineerErrant (Dec 23, 2006)
Awesome little flute number! I like the frosted look; Very rare as far as flutes go, but easier to keep looking clean. (I sold one of these to someone once...) I also love how I kin tell how the keys work by looking at this picture! Faaantastic!

Great to see all this MTG spirit going on.
Gigandas (Dec 24, 2005)
Why haven't I come back to comment on this since it was finished (probably cause I got sick and forgot about the contest, but that's no excuse)??? That's 50 lashes for me.
This turned out great though! The wings really stand out with its metal texture :). I think the frame still puts it all together really well in making it look like an 'official' card. I'm hoping this one wins....! :D

Hast du etwas Zeit für mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied für dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Denkst du vielleicht g'rad an mich
Singe ich ein Lied für dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Und das sowas von sowas kommt

99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Hielt man für Ufos aus dem All
Darum schickte ein General
'Ne Fliegerstaffel hinterher
Alarm zu geben wenn's so wär
Dabei war'n dort am Horizont
Nur 99 Luftballons

99 Düsenflieger
Jeder war ein grosser Krieger
Hielten sich für Captain Kirk
Das gab ein grosses Feuerwerk
Die Nachbarn haben nichts gerafft
Und fühlten sich gleich angemacht
Dabei schoss man am Horizont
Auf 99 Luftballons

99 Kriegsminister
Streichholz und Benzinkanister
Hielten sich für schlaue Leute
Witterten schon fette Beute
Riefen: Krieg und wollten Macht
Man wer hätte das gedacht
Das es einmal so weit kommt
Wegen 99 Luftballons

Wegen 99 Luftballons

99 Luftballons

99 Jahre Krieg
Liessen keinen Platz für Sieger
Kriegsminister gibt's nicht mehr
Und auch keine Düsenflieger
Heute zieh ich meine Runden
Seh' die Welt in Trümmern liegen
Hab' 'nen Luftballon gefunden
Denk' an dich und lass' ihn fliegen
-Nena

haha-nono it is about balloons. But it is about those 99 red balloons starting a war; here:

I suggest reading the direct german translation cause they had to change some stuff to make it sound good in Enlish
Gigandas (Apr 4, 2006)
I still stand by what I said about them looking 'yummy'. I like how you didn't only use highlights, but you also used those darker shades of red that really add to the 3D roundness to them. You should be proud of this! You did a GREAT job :).
SanzoGirl (Apr 16, 2006)
I love that song! :D

Gigandas (edited Nov 9, 2005)
Oh hey! I didn't see this.
I see you're practicing some anatomy here :). Looks pretty good. Just a little advice, but like in that right arm, you might want to round up the muscles to give it more sense that they are in fact, muscles. Definitely not a bad attempt though :).(Hehe, Michelangelo and orange..... :P)
EngineerErrant (edited Dec 23, 2006)
Mike better watch out, you're getting in on his territory here. ;)
