I realize, when you look at this, you will have a number of questions. Why did I post this monstrosity on this board? Why is it not set to unfinished hidden? Why does it look like such crap? Why did I spend only 36 minutes on it? And most importantly, why did I not have that chocolate milk with my lunch?

No questions, you did it just because you can. I don't know anything about anime, so... I don't see anything cliche. I like the canine, looks like a coyote to me. I've seen alot of them (not urban ones) and their posture is much like that when they realize you are in their territory. Now you better make an A on that exam.

yea.. I want to see this become something too... That coyote/dog looks dangerous... we have the urban kind here and they pretty much run when they see people..(a life on garbage can tipping certainly takes the edge off)..

Basically you don't have to follow your own rules, we get it...what I don't get is why you quickly enforce them others, but hey, this is a "dictatorship", right guy? BTW..aside from the pooch, the rest of this drawing needs a lot of work.. and that's a nicer way to put it.

Specific Suggestion for Marcello: Get a Playboy Magazine or ask your girlfriend to pose naked for you (if you have one). If there are some local hookers about, pay them for poses, they pose naked for next to nothing, a little tip from a former art student who lived right by MLK Street. You could also shell out a few bucks for a couple figure drawing sessions at the local Art Students League, if you have one. The worst part of this drawing is how you drew the female figure, it's horrid...even if it was a man, it looks like an alien. If you really want some direction, Memo me and I'll show you step by step how you could improve your figure drawing skills.

One thing about the proportions, she's 6 heads tall and her head is a bit larger than the rest of her body. This kinda throws things off a bit, or makes her look more childish in general. Some places say that a well proportioned body is 8 heads tall or around there (7.5 on one site). I dunno though, to me though it just looks like a skinny kid. The shading isn't bad, although the shoulder pads are a bit weird. They're almost not on her shoulders or something.

The colors you used are coyote colors! (without the stripe it really looks just like one) I can't critique the figure - human forms are not my strong point and I don't see anything glaringly wrong with her proportions at this point. If you want her to be skinny, leave her skinny. Lots of guys like their chicks skinny. And Clox, just because you have to pay to see (get) some doesn't mean everybody does. lol

She looks odd because she is just too narrow. Even thin girls are wider at the hip than they are at the head...6.5 heads high is alright for a shortish/average female, she just needs to be wider. 7.5/8 is about right for an average male. With the woman, I've been informed by art teachers that its 3 for the legs, 2 for the torso, 1 for the head, a bit for the neck, and 2 head widths at the shoulders. Finish it!

I think the face looks fine, since everything is long and slanted, the face looks fine the way it is. maybe you can move her lips up slightly, but not nessassry. so, you gonna add more detail on the furs on the wolf?

I'm tempted to tell you to finish it here. It's just so...ugh, I can't find the word. It's alluring, especially the stance of the girl and the colouring, my my, the colouring! It's gorgeous. The feel of this is really nice. I suggest you put a dark background in, even if it's a day time setting or so. I think it would nicely contrast nicely against the exquisite foreground colours.
