Yay for the string! Good clean up on the hand. very very nice.
Xodiak (Aug 14, 2005)
Very cute drawing, Xod likes the kiddy hand! The whole Earth looks so fragile hanging from a child's hand. Very beautiful picture. >:)

I hate it...the idea is shot to hell but whatever I don't care I am finished with this. I might actually just delete it but I have worked too hard but then I hate it so why keep it?
Gigandas (Aug 5, 2005)
Aww, you got rid of the ripples...I can see you tried hard though with all the revisions :). Well, art takes practice too, so you'll probably like what you see as you keep practicing. I mean I never heard of getting worse by practicing, so it'll definitely be better with each one. All you need is patience, so keep in there and I know you can do it ;).

But...Alex..you still have the argyle socks on..I spotted them immediately!
Alex-Cooper (Aug 13, 2005)
How did you know I was wearing an argyle sock when I was drawing this? Seriously. You're a creepy dude, Dave.

haha I always know your drawings by those big circle eyes :)
hideyourface (Aug 10, 2005)
you should really start to learn how to shade properly, and maybe begin adding in some detail/backgrounds to your pictures.

hideyourface (Aug 12, 2005)
ohh, I like teh castle thing you've added in the background. I think what would've made it better, is if the guy's wrist was done a bit better, and maybe if he was looking at the girl. Maybe some kind of border would've been cool too. Overall, still a good piece of art.

yeah, the arrows move up the screen and you have to step on the corresponding arrow when it reaches a the top of the screen.

lycene (Aug 2, 2005)
Stumbled across her while doing a search for reference pictures of birds, and figured this would be more fun to do. (Yay, portraiture.) She was the first female Australian aviator.

First Advanced posting, hope it's OK.

Ref: Link
Edit: Made it sepia in Photoshop: Link, Take 2

I'm actually proud of this one, yay.

Thanks so much, JK! I had problems getting the relative darkness and shadows correct, as I work from print-outs, and my printer is almost out of black and white ink. The whole pic ended up several shades lighter, with horizontal lines running through the whole thing (eew)! I didn't want to go into too much detail in the clothing, as I wanted to really focus on the face. (That, and I got lazy). I probably should have made the shadows much purer than they actually are.
Hideyourface, I can't really see the angle difference, but that's probably just me being biased and blind because I drew it. Oh, well, too late to fix it now.
Gigge (Aug 5, 2005)
I like this alot. I think it conveys that sense of free-spirit and adventure that she must have had to compel her to fly.
Renuar (Aug 5, 2005)
Much talent. Good draw. I look forward to seeing more.

thanks a lot for all your nice comments guys....and Kasha you don´t need a teacher, believe me i´m one of them :)
fleeting_memory (Aug 11, 2005)
do you have some more time stamps? That's all I could come up with for the title but the picture is awesome. I like the idea of the two half moons-one bright and one not leaving only half the moon in the sky. Maybe that's not what you were going for but thats what I saw. Very cool.
sincity (Aug 11, 2005)
Well Sh-! I can't comment enough on your stuff to begin with and you still manage to pull something like this out and leave me speechless yet again. Great work sir! :}

I'm kind of confused with the Lascaux layers; I created the background on the second layer, but when the first and second layers combined, the background covered this drawing. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to use it...

It can be tempermental (I ahven't the patience for it, unels when I do pixel art)
I like this so far, once you figure our Lascaux I'm sure you'll be absolutely terrific ^^

Such soulful eyes *nods* and pretty mouth... not to mention 'FWOOSH'y hair.. hehehe

T__T I just realized that i forgot to color in the space between the left side(your view) of her neck and her hair. I also missed the spot at the bottom left, so there's a blue spot on her shirt.
Shoebox (Aug 11, 2005)
Ouch, yeah, that back of the hair thing can get ya.. I learned early, when I did Dolls...

One thing I could suggest is when you make your lineart, make sure you use a layer beneath it for the background, and I can't remember if the fill tool works properly behind lined layers, but you usually want to use a large brush.. hopefully that should cut down on the white parts in between the lineart strokes.. which should probably be cleaned just a little, in the future ^^ I like solid lineart, but it's a bit scratchy.
I like the way you do hair...
Better luck next time ^^
Namori (Aug 11, 2005)
Thanks for the advice! I think I'll be able to draw another one without all those extra sketchy lines and without those white parts. :D
