Finished! This is my best drawing for this Applet...I am seriusI am sure I spelled that wrong...^^
Sweetcell (Jun 22, 2007)
Itty, your impressing me, you've quite improved. This is what happens when you practice and take your time. For better lineart in Lascaux consider using the airbrush on med flow/opacity, use thick lines then use the erasure on med low flow/opacity to shave the lines down for smoother results. It's more tedious but it's worth it. Well done so far girlfriend. Done!
enjoydotcom (Jun 24, 2007)
I like how you did the face coloring, although I feel it could do with some more contrast.
Sweetcell (Jun 24, 2007)
Well done itty, truly this is such an improvement. I agree with Joy that you could use more shading and highlights but each step you learn from your last piece. Maybe next time a better bg too. Love the swirly hair bits. :) |

This is great, love the contrast of the black/white and red.Chaotic, you should check out this one of Mocha as well, I like the hair on that one too.
Mocha_Bean (edited Jun 22, 2007)
Wow, thanks all of you!! *glomps all of you*Chaotic: I use the watercolor tool and different shades of gray..also I used the pressure sensitivity tool to make the strands taper.
Chaotic (Jun 23, 2007)
i've been wanting to draw hair like that but never figured out how. thanks Mocha!!! :)and you too for the other example enjoy :) |

Nothing says "I love you Dad" like a digital painting that makes fun of his face. I felt they should both be in this one (yes, that's my mother). This is cutting it close. I planned on doing this all week but procrastinated, I'll be paying for it today...I'm tired. -_-
Wraith (edited Jun 21, 2007)
That is awsome! Funny tho. :D I wish I could have drawn my dad, people called him Sammy Davis. BTW, Your mom is very pretty. :D
Klibese (Jun 21, 2007)
I wouldn't mind taking mustache tips from your pop.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jun 21, 2007)
Leave it to you to be able to inject a tiny bit of caricaturism into this and still allow us to see that your father is a very handsome man, and your mother is beyond "Sunday School beautiful". Do you even realize what a talented artist you are? WELL, DO YOU?

I cannot draw anatomy for my life XD
enjoydotcom (Jun 22, 2007)
Those were great tips Sweet, it is fun to flicker between v1 and v2. I don't know why I'm obsessed with the variable linewidth, but did you use pressuresensitivity on the size of the pen, or did you first draw and then erase parts of the lines to make it thinner? I ask because it makes a drawing come so much more to live when it doesn't have all the same thickness of lines and when I do it using pressure sensitive I rarely get it, it mostly goes from being thin to a big blob.
Wraith (edited Jun 23, 2007)
This looks like something off of Disney. Great draw! Also, she looks as if she just passed gas, and wants to keep the smell away from her. ( When switched from version 1 and 2 to make it animated )
deathking (Jun 23, 2007)
I used soft like at width 2, and soft erase at width 3. I don't like the way pressure sensitivity comes out, it's either too big or too small.
thenightmaregypsy (Jun 23, 2007)
....>.>*is jealous* Good job, and it does look disney-ish. I wish I could draw neat lines...ugh, I suck at that! XD all my teachers got mad at me for my sketches because there were virtually no neat lines. But good job, I'm still jealous! |

My pet Cockatiel Majour was sleeping so.. yes. And after trying the first applet again, I think I may enjoy one of the others better..
enjoydotcom (Jun 22, 2007)
You'll get used to this applet. We had a Cockatiel like that too, it was so sweet, if you'd go up to its cage and make kissy noises, it'd would do the same. And if you whistled like men like to whistle at women, it would answer the same. They're fun birds, fun drawing too.
Wraith (edited Jun 22, 2007)
One of my co-workers had one of these, and when I went over to his house to fix his PC, that Cockatiel tried to bite me! Cool sketchy drawing! |

A river in the mountains.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 13, 2007)
When I first viewed this, I had scrolled down a little too far, and the mountains and sky weren't on the screen, and from that vantage point it appeared that I was falling into the picture, down a waterfall and that I was going to land on a highway bridge. Totally cool vertigo type rush.... wheeeeee! I love this.
Felistorm (Apr 13, 2007)
LOL I was just fixing to say if you move it up and down a lil it will mess with you this is AWESOME.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 13, 2007)
Yeah, feels like I'm trippin'...this is such a fun picture to look at.

It's actually quite fun to draw from life rather than a photo.
Miss_DJ (Jun 22, 2007)
unbelievably nice
PolythenePam (Jun 22, 2007)
Haha, no you don't want a camera like this! It's only a Pentacon Pracktica, which was a replica of other better cameras at the time. It was made in East Germany (while there still was an East Germany) and the light meter doesn't work when you set the exposure at around 1/500 or 1. The little lightmetre scale inside the viewfinder is wonky too. But I'm taking donations for a Leica.
Sweetcell (Jun 22, 2007)
I do that when I don't know what to draw. If you have something around that's interesting to draw then I say draw it. You certainly learn more from a life ref then a static one.Wow, do they even make camera's like that anymore? It's like since digital all these camera's look like they should be in a museum. But they're more fun to use. Nice Giselle.
PolythenePam (Jun 22, 2007)
lol, yeah, there are a lot of film cameras still being made. The quality of the photos will always be immpecable compared to digital, what with the lack of pixelation. Chemical processing always gives the photos a certain aesthetic too, almost a glow. And assuming you have darkroom facilities, it's actually really cheap to print. The cost of chemicals and an enlarger is far less than a professional 10mpx digital camera and one hell of a printer. But mostly it's just art students and professional photographers you'll find with dinosaurs. |
