I'm not one to tell people where they should stick there art, but for Squirrels sake, if you just take a look at most other intermediate work and compare it to your own, you'll have your answer.
I can see you have put effort into this and you do know how to operate the applet fairly well, however, you did say, "didn't feel like doing a pixel by pixel realism", you don't have to do pixel by pixel realism, but what i understand from that sentence is that you don't want to put too much effort into your picture, which is what stepping up from beginner to intermediate really means.
Take my two cartoon character copies i recently did, i don't think they are quite intermediate quality, but i put them there for the amount of effort i put in.
Anways, that's a nice mushroom. I hope i didn't just make an ass of myself ^.^

I meant "didn't feel like doing realism" as more like i didn't want this picture to have a photo realist quality. If you look at the thumbnail it does look like could be realistic pic but of course the actual size pic shows the use of the appelet lines in a raw way. Which is perhaps the offense Squirrel took with this picture. He perhaps would want this pic to be realist or a crazy line drawing abstraction. As it stands its looks like more a water color picture and my appreciation for that media is why I post the pic here. Thanks Hunter ^^, your stuff is defiantly intermediate btw if not advanced some of it. As for effort my teacher once said "I don't grade on effort if the final product is crap" lol.

F.S. if you have a idea you shouldn't let the medium (command of English) you need to express it in scare you. Though it seems negative critiques are frowned upon on this site.
HunterKiller_ (Jun 24, 2005)
Not really 'frowned upon' i would say, but it is deffinitly not given very often, unless someone asks for critique.
Personally, i wouldn't mind seeing more, but then again, this is more of a 'doodle' site (below advanced level anyways), and we wouldn't want to discourage young artists with harsh critque.
Zack (Jun 24, 2005)
Lots of artists here get pretty defensive about their work, and that can discourage people from leaving negative critiques sometimes.

This site is definitely not meant for doodling. If you mention that you were just bored and decided to draw something, it very much increases the chances of the drawing being moved down or deleted. 2draw is about inspiration, community, and helping people improve, not wasting time.

Realism and a clean look are by no means necessary for the intermediate board, but this lacks definition and depth. A picture this simple compositionally should have more developed form, lighting, and texture. Think of ways to bring more contrast to the picture and make the mushroom pop out more. Also, the way that one half of the grass is darker than the other is confusing. A mushroom wouldn't cast that big a shadow.

Overall, good effort, but not quite intermediate level.

Really useful when you're out in the desert and you don't have water... ok, that was a stupid joke.

Now this is what happens when you attempt perspective drawing without planning - you end up spending way too much time on a silly cartoon. Let's call this finished, ok?

-> darkshadow: I live in Sweden so I've unfortunately never seen that show (I've seen SNL, though). I guess "the thought of water" would be the next logical step but I'm not sure you could make it profitable... or draw-able!

witty ^_~ but...i wish there was ramen in it... ^^ mmmm...i'm hungry i guess, lmao, great pic. ^_-

A collab of chibis, made up or not, human or otherwise. I'd appreciate it if someone would draw Kratos, though...
Oh, and save layer 0 for the background when all the characters are done. That also means the charachters have to be full body unless they are cut off at the edge of the picture.
Well, I guess that's it for rules, so... have fun! ^_^

Yay! Another fox! I love your drawings Mai, they're so kawai! ^_^
Inu-chan (edited Mar 29, 2010)
Mai-san, your art rules! I like how she has two different colored eyes. ^_^
It took a while, but this collab is finally finished. I'm so happy! But, you know, seeing my art in comparison to others in this pic makes me think of how far I have to go for my pictures to be even intermediate quality. I'll...do my best to work as hard as I can to improve from now on. Everyone, thank you for putting so much effort into this pic. I hope you all had fun!

im curious to know what is your favorite alltime drawing from 2draw. theres been so many drawings, its hard to pick just one, but a few stand out in my head. i'd say if i had to pick one, it would be the beauty within by kasha, and a close second is sjazbot by two-na.

I would like to inquire why you would find this comic funny? No doubt you are missing out on a great opportunity to own a trenchcoat llama. Who could pass up on a deal like that, 5 times no less? It's well known that the utility of trenchcoat llamas outshines the utility of the common pet llama. In short, who are you to judge!

This commentary brought to you by teh f00z4h™ and Llama's Incorporated™. Great deals on trenchcoat llamas, buy one or they will make clucking noises as they are spitting up stomach acid habitual of spitting people in the face.

Tried to make it look Maiko-style. This is for her, and her feelings towards... something right now. Haha. Hope you feel better, soon!
Sorry for the plain and rather unamusing background. :\

"I was once a treehouse, I lived in a cake. But I never saw the way, the orange slayed the rake (?!). I was only three years dead, but it told the tale! And now listen, little child, to the safety rail. Did you ever see a llama kiss a llama on the llama? Llama's llama, tastes of llama, llama llama, duck!"..."Is it how it's told now, is it oh so old? Is it made of lemon juice? Doorknob, ankle, cold. Now my song is getting thin, I've run out of luck! Time for me to retire now, and become a duck!" The Llama Song! X3
