Meh. Just felt like drawing a face.

Why the hell is this on the BEGINNER board?!?!?!?!?!?!?! The cloak definition does need a bit of work, but even that qualifies as decent. The FACE is AWESOME. Why the gothic hint? Is this a character that you'll be redrawing?!?!

-In other words, I'm in awe.
Deino (Dec 6, 2005)
I agree, this draeing does not belong to the beginners board... it's gorgeous.
staci (Dec 7, 2005)
mmm yummy color.

its on the beginner board because the standards of each board are the minimum requirements. there is no maximum. there's no way you can post anything so awesome on the beginner board that it would be moved or it's considered 'wrong' to post it there. gosh.

This cuaght my eye immediately. I'm very suprized i've never seen it before now.
Definely an eye cetching picture.
KGH (Feb 20, 2008)
I think this is the most realistic drawing/painting I have ever seen. The skin is amazing.
Kloxboy (Feb 20, 2008)
KGH: You need to see more art then. This is a good piece but it's not superior or even that interesting, imo. This is more of a reflection of another artists perspective (the original photographer), opposed to being a true, unique connection with the subject matter. The girl who painted this piece was more of a "spectator" than an artist, at least from what I knew about her. Some people think they can just dabble in anything, come and go as they please but in the end, they'll never truly gain anything from the expereince. True expression takes dedication, understanding and sacrifice, I don't see any of those qualities here.

Haha, holy crap that link is amazing....I think Zack's just jealous by saying that thing about the printer :P. I have to admit myself, I'm kinda jealous now. Someone who could do work like that isn't 'just' skilled, they have a God-like eye for detail that can pick up not only the forms and alignment, but just what colors to use to give it that real sense of 'life,' which just blows me away.
Zack (Dec 6, 2005)
I'm not envious. the man has obviously spent a great deal of time investing in a skill that doesn't impress me much. time that could have been spent playing video games.
staci (Dec 7, 2005)
agreed. why would you want to (for example) pay someone to do a portrait of you that looks EXACTLY like a photo. you have the photo..it just doesnt make sense. i guess it would be cool if the subjects were original and he made them look photo realistic, but meh. my opinion.
Gigandas (Dec 7, 2005)
Well, to me, it's not so much a matter of paying him to do a portrait for me, but rather the fact he's perfected his realism to that level is amazing. Most people attempt realism and end up with something that doesn't look exactly photorealistic because they don't have the overall 'skills' to master it as this guy has. I dunno, I still think it's good to have that ability up your sleeve anyway for an artist. It's one of the basics you study in art anyway. If you think about it, it's not all about the realism either. You don't learn realism just to do realism. It's stuff like learning to pick up on forms and colors that actually help you as an artist in the future when say, you work from references or just getting a general idea of shapes of things so that you don't really even need a reference to draw something well (like if you were drawing a robot and wanted to make him metallic, and you know how the texture might look).

hah... you're pitchin a little temper tantrum there miss childlike... so cute... I know what you mean, but I love it when people discuss off the wall shit on my pictures, it's interesting. It would be nice, however, if they were to mention the piece of art in their ramblings (which I apologize, I did not). On that note, I think Joe would be able to locate a bottle of Cuervo and a lime and some smokes in a record amount of time, and look just like he does up there in your picture while he did that. Then maybe when ya'll get off, we can do shots together and talk about why Joe does NOT look like Jesus. :D

Right now I'd like to go back to that wise old saying of yore...

"who shit in your cornflakes?"

I'm not sure if you noticed, but 75% of the comments on this site are absolutely meaningless crap
Would you rather I said "OMFG, LOL, THIS IS TEH BESTEST, ROFL, KAWII, =P @_@ \m/, ,\m/"
staci (Feb 13, 2006)
i personally am not trying to prove to you how much i know..its much more simple that than. you post a public drawing...and people can..comment! and we can..respond! haha..its great. so see someone makes a comment and then i think a thought in my head and i type it. its really silly for people to get upset about this type of thing, it makes us artist types defensive and much more likely to purposely piss you off in the future. but whatever..i wont bitch and flame at you about it because its a public forum, and a public picture. i can say whatever i want, and you can get pissed about it. hurrah!

and ditto to what kenn said.
Childlike_Vampire (edited Feb 19, 2006)
I can get upset about whatever I want and you can not like it and you can at least have some common sense and stop doing EXACTLY WHAT I WAS BITCHING ABOUT. hahaa oh whatever no worries. :P :P XP
