I just watched Cast Away yesterday... Wilson the volleyball has been resurrected as an evil thing and has come back to feast on people's brains! Kekeke... that's what it reminds me of now anyway.

Welcome to 2draw.net v2.0!
marcello (edited Aug 23, 2003)
After a long wait, and stretched launch, 2draw.net v2.0 is finally here! The good news is you won't be disappointed. Hundreds of hours of work have gone into building this completely new site, and many more hours spent converting all the old data to the new system. As I am currently exhausted getting the site up for launch, I won't go into detail on the new features of the site, but feel free to look around, ask other people, and figure out what's new. I should remark that sever...

Well, this started out as a self portrait. It looks nothing like me. I've never been good at capturing someone's likeness. Despite the fact that she has no resemblance to me, I do like how this one came out. ^__^;

EDIT: I just noticed that in the thumbnail she looks rather androgynous. . . o__O;; I'm also not used to drawing women. . .

I like the portrait and the style. I think the lips are the part that makes it more manly, feminine lips usually aren't as flat or maybe it is the dark sketchy part under the lips that looks almost like facial hair. Are you going to add something more to the background?
Caddris (Apr 19, 2005)
Backgrounds are not my forté. I honestly don't know what else to do with the background for this one. That and I've already exceeded the space limit by 54kb. ^___^;; But any tips on backgrounds for the future would be greatly appreciated.
kejoco (Apr 19, 2005)
I think the sketch is awesome...
I would say it looks more like a man than i woman though

It seems to me that graffiti is very similar to asian calligraphy, both of which I have dabbled in... the main difference being that a can of spray paint is obviously not a brush. The similarity is creating art from the form of strokes of a word or in case of an English letter. I would like to suggest not using the continuous line entirely because it can limit your style sometimes, and the masters know when and where to stop spraying, much like calligraphy. Obviously though that's just whatever style you may have.

About this particular piece I think the background needs something badly... a grey stripe imo doesn't suit it at all. The shape itself is interesting, it reminded me of an 'm' at first. One of the greatest things about graffiti is that it can disguise it's message and force people to find whatever the message is while looking all over the piece.

i'm not even going to read what M3 said, but i like it. especially how it pops out at you.
acidbath (Apr 17, 2005)
thank you all for the comments ill try even harder next time for a more realistic 3d approach!
HunterKiller_ (Apr 18, 2005)
Hmmm... I have to disagree with the second part of what M3 said. I think it's splendid.

I especially like the goatee part. I'm wondering, do you ever consider going back to any of your other drawings (or even this one) and "finishing" them by adding color or whatnot, or do you think it should be left as is? Do you think you could make another version as a separate drawing and finalize the sketchy parts with solid line or is that not your style? Anyway, keep up the good work.
kejoco (Apr 18, 2005)
Your drawings make me think you're into metaphysics??
True??
Do you also listen to TOOL?
just some thoughts based on the imagery in your art...
TheCrimsonKing (Apr 18, 2005)
I'm very much a participant in metaphysical studies.
Yes, I do happen to listen to Tool.

Do you also?
kejoco (Apr 18, 2005)
Yes I do...
I'm still very disappointed there hasn't been a follow-up to Lateralus.
Word has it they are in the studio now though

Hahaha, for some reason I just noticed that his hand is a weird robot-like shape. Awesome and humorous drawing.
DinoFlorist (Apr 17, 2005)
I dont mean to make your head too big or anything, but I think you're going to be (and you already could be) amazing in some artistic profession. You have so many skills, and I don't think there's any style or technique you couldn't take on. Your works are very unique...I'm amazed at your age and what you have already accomplished!
mooseflower (Apr 17, 2005)
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! MY HEAD!! Dangit Dino now I've gone and tipped over :(

But seriously, I was going for a totally different style when I started this and it just... kind of... wneogudgh-ed. And I think I want to be a geneticist.

DarkCloak (Apr 15, 2005)
Look at that face! Although he's smiling, I don't think he's very friendly :P
method3 (Apr 17, 2005)
Interesting title. I am going to steal the eyes from this pic, it's one of the most interesting parts of the piece. It makes him look very nice indeed.

The first time you wanted to be an artist
nekodesu (Apr 9, 2005)
When was the first time that you were inspired to be an artist? And how did you get inspired? Or were you those people who started drawing since you were able to pick up a pencil?
