whoa, I just realized that there were details for her collar bone and other...assets :P Things look so different when there's different lighting.

I should've known you wouldn't've drawn a naked girl w/o her best features ;P ha

I just started and wanted to do something simple to get a feel for the tools. Almost had a heart attack when I though I had lost about an hours worth of work and now that I see it again...I'm not really that impressed with myself.

Thanks, I got really tired towards the end and kind of just gave up, but I think from now on I'll just leave them unfinished till I'm satisfied (I only hesitated to do so on this one because it was my first and I'm a perfectionist).
davincipoppalag (Apr 5, 2004)
well when you submit.. you get three choices.. Unfinished (hidden) unfinished and finished.. Unless you want comments and suggestions about what else to do on a pic you should be saving them as Unfinished (hidden) anyway. They will be on your user page for revisions etc, until you are ready to post it in the general area as finished.
marcello (Apr 5, 2004)
and despite logic, you can revise something even if it is set to finished
fieryfever (Apr 5, 2004)
Hey thanks, I wasn't sure about the (hidden) part before, will do next time

As I understand it, Navajo is not really a "written" language, so to speak, but while I was visiting for a few days on one of the reservations, the granddaughter of an elderly Navajo woman who made me a traditional horse blanket (from her own home-spun wool, from her own sheep) wrote down some of my favorite words for me. Ei-nhi' is Lightning in Navajo. In return for the beautiful gift, I gave the granddaughter the pearl necklace I was wearing. It was much prettier against her dark skin than it had been on mine, and it is one of my favorite memories. This is neither one of those people, of course, and I am just chasing rabbits here because I have to write a description on every picture and this is what I was thinking of. :)

Gren from Cowboy Bebop. My theory is if I draw enough of these fanart pictures eventually I'll get good enough at this style to draw it without using a picture. Speaking of which, here is the one I used for this picture:

I don usually watch CB, but this is really awesome! It look just like the picture! Although the mouth is kinda off, but oh well! Excellent job. *nod nod* Bye now.
marcello (Apr 5, 2004)
diechan: if I'm not mistaken, this is from the movie, not the show
TheCrimsonKing (Apr 5, 2004)
It's from the show alright, I believe its from part 2 of "Jupiter Jazz" or perhaps another name, But I know it's from the show, Gren wasn't in the movie.
And your theory about drawing enough fanart pics is partly true..However to draw anime and manga styles on your own its better to just sit down everyday and study styles and most of al figure out which style(s) of manga you wish to draw, and study that particular one. Otherwise your just gonna draw fanart pics for a long, long time.
Nice picture though.
marcello (Apr 5, 2004)
heh, that's funny, I was thinking of jupiter jazz (the dude with the breasts...), but for some reason I said movie.

DMV (Apr 4, 2004)
you are both right... my reason for this drawing was not so much the skull but I was trtying to make the skull round and have almost ( and i mean almost) a 3D look to it .thats why it's on the beginners board and i apologized for it . and it was better before I saved it. um.....what iceman drawing? Marcello your welcome to delete this one lol!
Pantera (Apr 4, 2004)
Gee I am thinking you have to be a professional to draw here. For all its worth, I like this a lot DMV.
_INGRID_ (Apr 5, 2004)
i think you should draw what you like if you want 2 draw 1000000000skulls more then just do it! i like because you always have a funny story to tell so keep it up! ;)
emmamommalag (Apr 14, 2004)
I like it! But of course being new here, I haven't seen the others so what do I know? Those eyes are mesmerizing, though!

Wierd idea I got. I know the shoulder looks like Dexter St Jock pulled it out of socket, but it's too late to fix it now, I say.

this is awesome, i think it bears name and place for advanced
marcello (Apr 4, 2004)
nope, definitely not advanced yet.
why? for one, the lineart is somewhat crude, with not enough attention paid to things such as the shoulder, ears, had, pocket, and quality of the line itself. the shading is a little confusing with no apparent light source, yet very sharp shadows. one might expect a little texture in some of the surfaces.
overall, it works, but isn't advanced material.
DinoFlorist (Apr 4, 2004)
It's pretty good! Actually Marcello is right about all of those things. It's physically impossible for the shoulder to bulge up like that. I don't know what the trouble with the pocket is. The hand does not look right in any way. I'm sure that if you tried again with those ideas in mind, you could make a really great picture; but this is good as it is. Don't get too caught up in realism.
Deformed (Apr 5, 2004)
Did I say advanced? I meant intermediate. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I still realy like it though.

Advanced = Opinion?
Wolfheart (Apr 4, 2004)
Hmm... this question dawned on me before I was going to start a drawing, while listening to Led Zeppelin (yes nothing to do with the topic), and I thought I'd share it with you good folks here. This may ahve already been discussed, but oh well, to the point: What is advanced? There are many many many many, perhaps endless amounts of art styles, and some are similar, and some are complete opposites, but who is to say which ones are advanced quality? I mean, abstract art, some of Picasso's abst...
