From a black and white photo. I chose this subject based on several factors, I like the angle the shot was taken from, it creates an impression of superiority. The black and white was also something I felt like trying to "get right" and last but not least the shot showed lots of detail in the muscles that I felt would be a good challenge, something that would hold my interest and make me put forth some effort, good exercise. I redid this comment after finaly having read the rules.

All packaging will cost more." Is this the "ecology state"?So,now the lumber co.s.have excuse, to chop down thousands of trees,to make millions of required paper bags? How wonderful of the "environmental" (read:Crazy) governor and legislature,to pay off the lumber industry,which they have bribes from!! Ain;t America wonderful? We've got bribes down,now we just need dictators like everyone else.Well, we have that, almost.Pretty much. :)

I admit, we homo sapiens have a big problem;unlike the other species,we transform material into objects,substance,that cannot degrade back into nature. I think we're the only species that does that, so I suppose the problem with human beings is they are advanced,and intelligent, enough just to make a bunch of junk,but not advanced enough to go any further than that.That makes us a very limited, not-evolving-greater species,and the only way we'll survive,is to evolve past this bad plane. I do not see us doing this,at this point. (science fiction novel starting here,where all the normal humans die out,Ice Ages, ect.,and only small tiny groups of very intelligent, eco-thrifty ones survive. But, I would have trouble even making that credible,in a sci fi story.Chances are,all the huge amt.of litterers,and plastic-makers will kill off all the eco-thrifty ones, and junk the planet anyhow.) So, yes, we do want to stop trashing the planet;when it's unliveable here,there will be no more us. But with this type of unco-operative human population, not gonna happen.) |

a bit less shit than I expected.The vagueness sells it. I can't draw straight forward a somewhat realistic face(were talking no ref). I always have to draw a vague mess and then pick out parts which look right. Almost always when I feel like knowing how to draw a certain part going in and making the change often makes it worse. A bit frustrating. Dunno what it would take to work on the details without fucking it up. I'm currently trying to memorize one portrait of a girl(photo) to have a mental reference. My guess is that it's a bit too friggin hard to actually construct a head three dimensionally, we usually just draw 2d impressions. That's why everybody fails so hilariously when trying to draw a head facing up or down. but it's been pretty depressing so far trying to remember it....yay. It better be worth it

yeah some...but it's very basic and whacky.What does it matter how hard it is to recognize a face from an odd angle when you have a 3D representation in your mind that you reliably can rotate and use as your reference? I do that 'draw person from a different angle' thing from time to time. The clash I have with it is that you usually can't really verify your accuracy unless you have a photo of that other angle with the same light. Without checking with reality you'll probably end up learning it wrong which is something I'd like to avoid.

Good point, but it's only valid if you see a head from all angles. Only then can you assume to have a 3D representation. Otherwise, (like in photos) you can 'complete' the missing parts in your mind, but there's no guarantee for it to be accurate.
