This is beautiful, I also prefer the remake of her face. You made her much more delicate looking. The incredible colorful background really gives the "fantasy" look and feel to this. I have always loved your work.....I have followed it on other websites. I am glad to see you drawing here. The tools are much better and for a fantastic artist as yourself you sure have learned them well. Unlike myself....I am still trying. I could only hope one day to draw as magnificent as you. Excellent work!

I kept thinking"is this a varmint?is this a photo shop?"hamsters do this?yeah, this is so darn cute, you could put it on cards you send peiople, and you'd cute them to death;what a wonderful painting work!fuzzy with paint, yow, i want one!you have a genius for animals, i see you animating their lil furry carcasses in revivals of "toy story"films. this talent wit critters should not be wasted.colors and details of fur...wonderful.my oracle says, "you will do critters,in the future, and make millions of adult kids very happy."(but what is the hamster saying,up there?"My feet are in knots,I can't get them untied!HELP!!")FABULOUS. :)

Saw a photo of a ballet based on Faust... Mephistopheles was a wire-wing actor. I got inspired :)

OOps, I meant to put this on intermediate...please forgive me. The layers are still confusing me. I would like to know if you can move it aside while drawing on another layer and then retrieve it. Was also wondering if you can revise your image after you submit it as done. This one was three layers.

Ahhh Laura, you know I am a sucker for the birdies, and especially the cardinals, I have tons of refence pics I want to do, Your work is fantastic and you are really starting to get the hang of it, and it shows in this one. Beautiful draw, and yes you can hide layers by clicking on the button next to them. you can even delete the "outline" layer that you don't want before you merge them, or any layer that maybe you were "experimenting" with, and come back and make a new layer if needed. And yes you can change the order of the layers, which is helpful if while plotting your pic you make an error of order, which I have done, oops, lol. In the oekaki-shi painter you can even use slide to make the layers semi-visible, which is a great help. Btw on your screen next to your name in the login bar, there is "config" that if you click on it allows you to change your applets to an advanced mode, which in the oekaki-shi painter gives you more layers, and a few more options, I haven't checked yet in lascaux yet to see what is available. memo me if you need any help or have any questions, I may be able to help.

LOVE cardinals; love this cardinal, in particular!
gel_o (Mar 6, 2008)
This is great QT, a wonderful pic and you said you are a slow learner. Very nice!
Sweetcell (Mar 7, 2008)
If you cleaned up some of the lines, fixed the bg a bit, and just added more light leaves there'd be no problem to have it here. Just needs cleaning up and tweaking.

About layers, on Lascaux they work the same as Shi, you can hide them, move them, merge them, and even make them opaque the same as Shi by moving the slider. Just make sure it's highlighted blue or you'll be making the wrong one transparant. If your still confused you can memo me or try the Wiki tutorial.

first birds here after joining this site. Used three layers this time. One for the background of blue. One for the foliage. One for the birds. I think I am getting there. Used the eraser tool, the spray tool, opacity and flow.

This is my fifth face here at 2draw. I am pleased but it took way too long. At first her eyes were too far apart so I had to redo one. Hopefully I am getting better with the tools here. The reference I used was http://www.morphthing.com/showimage/2/0/0/2480/Morph-of-Marilyn-Monroe-and-Scarlett-Johansson.jpeg

Hmmmmmmmmmm, marfin...this might be why I was struggling so much with the left side and the right side of the pic. The site I was at actually had Marilyn on the top of it but it was blurrier than this one, so I chose this one to draw from which I did not realize it was morphing....duh. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions....it is a learning curve for me....it will be slow going.
gel_o (Mar 2, 2008)
Very nice work on this one. I think you should move on up to Intermediate. I am glad to see your work here on 2draw.
Meno (Mar 5, 2008)
Marilyn was such a vulnerable soul ... this pic really captures her sweetness.
Cordelia_Pink (Mar 18, 2008)
It kiiiiiiinda looks like her, the mole and the hair esp. You did a good job on this though.

Excellent job. I love all the different textures.
Xina54 (Mar 26, 2008)
Hey Starz - the sheen on the gold satin is just TOO real! the fringing, the bell, the embroidery on the face - all amazing.
KuteDymples (Mar 28, 2008)
Terry......I can't believe I missed commenting on this. I have looked at it so many times and I guess I was so engrossed in all of the detailing I thought I had commented. I love the whole draw, but my favorite part about it is the one piece of cording that comes down from the bell. I can't quit staring at it. It looks like you could reach right out and take it from the picture, seeing the side of it and the perfect details you have put into it. Wow! Masterpiece is quite the understatement for this. Mardi gras memorabilia has always taken me aback, and this would be a perfect addtion to all that I already have.

Fourth face here....black and white is always so much easier for me. Not sure why. Made the face a lttle too big for the canbas. Is there anyway to increase the canvas after you have started a pic?

Great drawing. I find black & white harder to do than color,
davincipoppalag (Mar 1, 2008)
Looks pretty good
STARZSHINE (Mar 1, 2008)
Classic QTgillie, for sure, very nice work laura! I used to have a mirror that had this image of her silk screened in black pointillism. It was my favorite wall picture/mirror, of course it was from the late 70's when everything was all about chrome and shag carpeting and leather or velvet and foil wallpaper! But I don't care I loved it anyway, but, when I moved someone dropped it and it got a huge crack in it, I was so sad, but here it is almost the same! nice work.
Meno (Mar 5, 2008)
Chrome and shag carpeting ... I remember that well! Long live the lovely Marilyn :)
