Give yourself away.
The dancing moonlight beckons,
To the world beyond reality.

Your whispers surround me,
Screaming to my soul.
Don’t let the magic fade.

DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 15, 2004)

i look in the mirror and i wonder where ive gone,
reflections of who i used to be flicker, slowly fade.
i will keep searching for the answer, but as the time drags on,
i realize that this may be the new me...the one that God has made.

and i cry

hmm, out of space. just a cathartic piece really...tried to write to go with it, but it doesnt sound that good. oh well...ill think about it later...
Gigandas (Feb 8, 2004)
Hmm, don't know how to describe it...but there's a cool abstract-like look to it^^.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 8, 2004)
I think I understand your writing. Scares me, but I do. So now you go look at Shelly in the mirror and tell her you love her! Seriously... tell her until she believes you mean it. And this picture is wicked. In a good sort of way. Sometimes doing art can really help you find out alot about yourself. And sometimes it helps you to heal. I could just keep looking at this forever, it is so ... I can't describe it. It's deep, for sure. The eyes really knock me out.

The one thing you might want to work on is probably line-art. Excuses like, "I'm using a mouse!" Or, "But I just got my new tablet!" aren't good enough. =P I use a mouse. But anyway.. Lovely peice. I think it could use a bit more shading. ALWAYS focus on the darker parts of the body and shade appropriately -- it may not look nice at first, but when the peice is finished, it turns out lovely.

Great job on a first try. =) The nails are wonderful. Be sure to add shine to them when you can.
dixielandcutie (Feb 1, 2004)
haha, thanks. nope, no excuses here...haha, im practicing to improve right? thanks for the tips, will do.

"So many wrong decisions in my past,
I'm not quite sure if I could ever hope to trust my judgment anymore.
But lately I've been thinking, because it's all I've had to do.
And in my heart I feel that I should give this child to you.

And maybe you can tell your baby when you love him so
that he's been loved before
by someone who delivered your son
from God's arms to my arms to yours.

And if you choose to tell him and if he wants to know
how the one who gave him life could bear to let him go,
just tell him there was sleepless nights I prayed and paced the floor
and knew the only peace I'd find is if this child was yours."

--a young mother

any suggestions? i'd love to hear them...

I love it. The poem makes me cry and the picture really captures it. Great work!
brushes4 (edited Jan 30, 2004)
as someone who has been on both sides of that poem, i found it very comforting, your picture glows with the love a mother feels knowing she made the right decison, its very soft and warm, yet the small important things like her tears, her eyes and the babies face are finer, more detailed. beautiful piece dixie :O) i also love how the image is like a page torn from her life, not to throw it away but to tuck it safely in her heart.
