I really like the irises there^^.Umm, I was just wondering if you could put just a little bit of shading near the nose since it looks a little flat at the moment><(sorry...).It doesn't have to be dark, but just so there's some depth to the face^^.Hope you don't mind my critiquing....><*runs off and ducks for cover*
davincipoppalag (Feb 22, 2004)
I think you should make the face pink and give it a bow...oh wait.. that was the other picture.. lol ya..needs a bit more depth..but I like it too..
dixielandcutie (Feb 23, 2004)
lol, g. of course i always want critique. how would i learn if everyone just said: i like it, good job? hehe. ill get on that. ;p

I really like these abstract, 3 dimensional pieces when you do them, Dixie. I think you've found your niche. (I don't ever feel torn, though, I usually feel like I slept on the interstate and was run over by a bunch of 18 wheelers)
davincipoppalag (Feb 22, 2004)
lol good album cover for that old Patsy Cline song... I Fall to Pieces... lol (or maybe ZZTop..She's Got Legs) lol very creative.. and interesting
dixielandcutie (Feb 22, 2004)
ah ha. my niche...i hope not. i wish i could do realism better...*sigh* haha, ooh well, practice practice... thanks tho : )
Gigandas (Feb 22, 2004)
Once again, nice and creative^^.And whoa, that eye you drew looks cool XDDD.Love the iris a LOT^^.Good job XD.The color choices are awesome too in my opinion.Usually, I have a lot of trouble with colors and feel like certain colors are missing^^;.But in your case, it seems like you have it right on^^.

Give yourself away.
The dancing moonlight beckons,
To the world beyond reality.

Your whispers surround me,
Screaming to my soul.
Don’t let the magic fade.

ok...i think ive had about all i can take with this one...anything glaring, lemme know and ill try and fix it...pfft...*tried not to look at the hands*
Gigandas (Feb 17, 2004)
It's finished^^.Very nice as I knew it would turn out.I guess you made a decision to leave the rain a bit like the way it was. It's still cool, I mean because it's like how you draw rain so I have to give you credit for being original about it^^(Hey, nothing has to be a certain way in art, only advice could be of some inspiration, yeah?).And I'm blown away by that brick well there*dies*.Too awesome for my eyes to be staring at><.You overdid yourself, dixie.I'm gonna be staring at this for awhile :).*starts now*
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 18, 2004)
You did a lovely job on this Dixie, I especially like her hair and the reflection.

Oh, well I don't know the song....sorry><;;;.Actually, the only songs I listen to are lyricless so.....if that explains anything^^;....
dixielandcutie (Feb 18, 2004)
whaa? lyrics can do so much for music. i mean, i appreciate a good instrumental as much as the next person...but...hehe..oh man.
Gigandas (Feb 18, 2004)
I don't know. There's just something about hearing a person's voice in music that I don't like too much....strange, I know, but it's just that way with me.And I don't exactly listen to too much besides some good electric guitar music.I don't pay too much attention to whether it's heavy metal, rock, or whatever as long as it sounds good to me.But rap....oh man....I just can't stand it^^;(believes no talent or skill is involved, no offense to those who like it.Just an opinion...).
Deformed (Feb 18, 2004)
Exacticaly!! Rap sucks! It takes absolutely NO talent! It's just some moron triing to talk in rythem. It brings shame to the world of music.

i look in the mirror and i wonder where ive gone,
reflections of who i used to be flicker, slowly fade.
i will keep searching for the answer, but as the time drags on,
i realize that this may be the new me...the one that God has made.

and i cry

hmm, out of space. just a cathartic piece really...tried to write to go with it, but it doesnt sound that good. oh well...ill think about it later...
Gigandas (Feb 8, 2004)
Hmm, don't know how to describe it...but there's a cool abstract-like look to it^^.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 8, 2004)
I think I understand your writing. Scares me, but I do. So now you go look at Shelly in the mirror and tell her you love her! Seriously... tell her until she believes you mean it. And this picture is wicked. In a good sort of way. Sometimes doing art can really help you find out alot about yourself. And sometimes it helps you to heal. I could just keep looking at this forever, it is so ... I can't describe it. It's deep, for sure. The eyes really knock me out.

The one thing you might want to work on is probably line-art. Excuses like, "I'm using a mouse!" Or, "But I just got my new tablet!" aren't good enough. =P I use a mouse. But anyway.. Lovely peice. I think it could use a bit more shading. ALWAYS focus on the darker parts of the body and shade appropriately -- it may not look nice at first, but when the peice is finished, it turns out lovely.

Great job on a first try. =) The nails are wonderful. Be sure to add shine to them when you can.
dixielandcutie (Feb 1, 2004)
haha, thanks. nope, no excuses here...haha, im practicing to improve right? thanks for the tips, will do.

"So many wrong decisions in my past,
I'm not quite sure if I could ever hope to trust my judgment anymore.
But lately I've been thinking, because it's all I've had to do.
And in my heart I feel that I should give this child to you.

And maybe you can tell your baby when you love him so
that he's been loved before
by someone who delivered your son
from God's arms to my arms to yours.

And if you choose to tell him and if he wants to know
how the one who gave him life could bear to let him go,
just tell him there was sleepless nights I prayed and paced the floor
and knew the only peace I'd find is if this child was yours."

--a young mother

any suggestions? i'd love to hear them...

I love it. The poem makes me cry and the picture really captures it. Great work!
brushes4 (edited Jan 30, 2004)
as someone who has been on both sides of that poem, i found it very comforting, your picture glows with the love a mother feels knowing she made the right decison, its very soft and warm, yet the small important things like her tears, her eyes and the babies face are finer, more detailed. beautiful piece dixie :O) i also love how the image is like a page torn from her life, not to throw it away but to tuck it safely in her heart.
