well... i have a lot of trouble drawing the human head in a 'looking up' position, as seen from ground level. I suspect that only practice will help me, but if anyone happens to know any tricks for such an instance that might aid me, i'd be grateful =)

well there are 2 ways of learning and i do both, i go to the ocean and take pictures to bring home with me for practise, and 2 watch some high end anime flicks because they put a LOT of detail to the enviorment =) and if you cant get your hands on many anime shows than rent the movie spirited away it has some good water scenes in it and it came to canada so it must be wherever you are =)
hope this helps

HA HA HA Current! Ok ok ::calms self down and runs away::

Heh, at first I thought it was a sleeping dragon...

Well, Mini sort of has the right idea of looking at real ocean, but honestly I don't see a point in going out to an ocean and taking lots of pictures just to come back and do some oekaki. If you go out of your way to do that, enjoy it, maybe do a painting while you're there.
Anime is stylized, so I only recommend looking at that if you really want to have an anime style in your piece. (And if that's the case I highly suggest looking at 5+ anime by different artists to get a more general idea.)

So, what would I do? First off, google image search is your friend. A quick search for 'ocean' or 'ocean waves' will bring up many cool photos and paintings, and probably everything you'd need.

XD when i started sketching the land i was actually trying to draw a crab, so it looks an awful lot like a claw... i couldn't find a decent photo of a crab to base it off of so i changed direction. the problem with me using photos of waves and such is that there is a lot of action going on in a single section of water, even it is relatively calm. i think water is more difficult to create than anything else.
thx for the tips

this evil thing reminds me of some of those turtle creeps in WC3 Frozen Throne, scarey looking eyes. are you going to draw those in, or are they supposed to be glowing like that?
Turtlebuster (edited Jun 23, 2003)
the eyes are sposed to look like a cat's eye in the dark...

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the truth, my friend!
Mnemosyne (edited Apr 27, 2003)
I once stepped on a snail too. I got a piece of shell lodged it my foot. It was fun.

Did you know? the government implants secret bombs inside all snails and them keeps track of the on continent wide radar and can detonate them at any time. It has taken these measure to protect the public from the deadly and imminet threat of an attacking army of garden gnomes! *horroy movie shreik* And remember, this comment was never posted!
