I must say everything looks better on this one, but the bra. I don't like how breast shows up under it. Tell the girl to buy a bigger bra. >: Other than that detail, looks great. Great skin tone, shading. the hair look very good.

to background or not to background... that is the question... whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous criticisms, or to take paint against a sea of troubles and, by opposing, color them...
flat chested girls have loads of attitude. their dress sense, everything. while big busted girls are well... i sometimes pity them. all that LOAD on their back, no wonder how some have become hunchbacked in their later years. all that strain. i look forward to you drawing a flat-chested girl.
The only thing that bugs me (other than her overly huge boobies. heh.) is how her face looks like it doesn't belong to the rest of her body. I guess it's because of the coloring. The shades are different. *shrugs* Dunno.. that's my opinion.
yeah I agree with anna, like.. it might be because you left the lines fading out on the rest of her body, but her face you have lines around, and not as much shading.. so it almost looks like a barbie head with a realistic body :P. Nice job on this though, you wrapped it up really well
Yea I know what you mean. I guess if I got the space I could carry that line style down the rest of the body, and it would look more unified. ho hum. thanks though. ;)
Well, both Anna and me007 pretty much have it.The way it is right now, it almost looks like she has a mask on.And besides the fact that there's an outline on her face and the skin tones not matching the body, the eye and eyebrows don't look real.The body is fine in realism, it's the face that looks a bit cartoony.But if I had to point out the main thing that's causing it, it's the eye.I'd say it's because it looks anime-ish.If you look at your reference, I'm pretty sure it won't look like the way you drew it here.I'm not trying to be harsh here, but pointing things out you may wanna look out for.Like I said, the skin tones on the body are pretty good.
anime-ish? Anime eyes are abnormally large. Her's isn't. Consider also that the ref wears sunglasses so u cant even see her eyes and I had to make it up, and I did it the way it's done in an artbook I have. I really don't accept that it's anime-ish, unless u can explain exactly in what way(s). Also, I prefer her face to the reference's, and it hardly looks like she's wearing a mask. Maybe to someone who's half blind with pink eye. I didn't shade it as darkly as her body on purpose though her lower face area could be adjusted a tad darker to add a better sense of volume. The skin tone is ok. Some areas are too red rather than bronze. The line quality to her profile is on purpose. It would look more natural without it, but it was a stylistic choice on my part. So there. This isn't the British Royal Academy.

Now, as for the eye, what gives it an "anime" look to it is that the end of the eye doesn't meet.That would be what mainly distracts it from being realism.Next would be the pupil and iris...it's stretched a bit too long from top to bottom.Imagine how long it'd be if you removed the reflection in the eye.
The intentional touch ups you made on the picture should also look definite that you did so rather than keep the viewers guessing that you were attempting realism, but couldn't manage to get the face down.If you wanna add your own things to it, make it very clear it was intentional and not a flaw.
And finally, keep in mind these are suggestions.Don't take them as if I were offending your work.The choice is yours whether you take it or leave it, just don't start snapping at me for it.I mean, I'm sorry I tried to be of help.
anime eyes arnt ALWAYS large, they are mostly normal size or just slightly bigger. but the eyes do look kinda cartoonish compared to the rest of her, and her face does look out of place with the skin on the body. although you know, you choose it to be stylish but it shouldnt look a lil like the face is semi-cartoonish-realism and the body realism, cause the face isnt shaded as much as the rest of the picture, mostly just one color. the hair looks okay, except maybe the lines could be thinner and not blocky looking. just pointing out things, don't take any of it as offence, just try and make improvments on your newer works. most criticism is a good thing.. if they point out what you did wrong and not just say it's crappy, i'm not saying it's bad at all, it's pretty good, just a few changes could be made and it would look 110% fantastic.
Well Konaru, it'd be creative if he managed to pull off a cartoon/realism picture here, but there isn't any definite parts of this picture telling you that that was intended when the artist drew this.That is why I was pointing out the things that could've used improvement.But I do agree it has nice things to it.

They have no hate against him, they only pointed out some things in the beginning of this drawing, some very CONSTRUCTIVE comments, and it turned out that paul didnt like their constructive critism so he took it as offence and that they were saying it isnt good, they've been around a long time, and have done fabulous works of art, so I think they should know what they're talking about. Yea I agree that this is a public board and people are intitled to their own opinion, and they gave their opinions, in a nice and non-hatefull way. I honestly don't know how this turned into some flaming conversation when no one was bad-mouthing this peice, it's a great peice but there are just a few mistakes that can be corrected easily, nothing to get worked up about. Take the opinions as a good thing, they arnt saying this like "This is a crappy peice" and it's not, they are only trying to help, and if you can't take it maybe you should just ignore the comments on here or move somewhere else, don't take that I have any personnel hate torwards you either, cause I don't, I don't know you at all, not enough to dislike you so there. Don't flame at me because of my comment, i'm just pointing things out. You should at least be a little nicer, not just you but everyone, this is still a nice peice, don't delete it, the conversation is barely about it anymore, only because you've seemed to dwell on their opinions being rude and hate-full than constructive.
*sigh*.. dude, constructive critsizm comes from the masters on pieces that are good, and if the artist has potential. this picture is really great, the tones are awsome, but they are only trying to help you become a better artist. You should embrace what you like from what they say, etc. instead of reject it and start an arguement. Anna and Gig obviously thought this was a good picture, or they would have never commented in the first place, and they thought that they would try and help this great picture become greater. That is all people are trying to point out to you, but the fact is you are on a public board. Every picture you post is going to get some critisim, to make it better, or a comment prasing your work. Unless, of course, you start going off like this, then there will be nobody to comment on your pictures. Good luck, hope to see more of your work around, and hopefully you can learn from some of the stuff that people are telling you.
who ever said my last big "rants" were even completely serious? Cause they weren't completely serious. If I appeared to be on a short fuse it's because it was very late and I was tired. Then I just got silly and over the top. I have taken Gig's comments into consideration, and will act on them if I ever revise this again.
It WAS kinda crappy weather last week.. gloomy , rainy..cold. Eggs are up to $1.89 a dozen.. I don't like artificial sweeteners. You guys all need some nice valium-laced cupcakes.. <hands one to KO ..eats one... <grins benignly...(((hugs Anna)))

I love the art of all the masters who gave their opinion here, but there are limits to critics. And i wouldnt expect from some what i read here. Suggestions to leave the site. This is public.
