Thanks everyone, I should have worked on the arms & legs a bit longer but I'm still just learning and got tired of fiddling with it.
gerbear (Apr 27, 2006)
hey cat! Nice job. Like the chrome alot. The anatomy is off in the arms, but I have been following your draws at Udraw still (jes have not had time to comment, but I AM looking) and know you do the human body VERY well indeed. It takes time to learn the programs here. They are wonderful but I did not find them intuitive. I look forward to more as the tools become familar!!!

Hi Catfreeek! Yep Colour seems to suit you too!

Another "colored pencil approach". I work in them in real life, this is great to work up ideas for works on paper!!

Very nice work here, I really like the details on this.

Charming, charming, and - did I mention? - charming!

Hey, I did not know you were here. I love all of your stuff. Would love to see you do some more. Sketchfu has gotten boring for me, I am afraid. I have also made an enemy here and not sure how to fix it. She (sweetcell) is really pissed at me. I only memo'd her that I did not appreciate her nit picky comments. Ouch...I got a mouthful back. Now I see she is a top dog her....oh.....woe is me. Something came over me and possessed me, I swear! Miss seeing you...how is your back? Come visit.

I think this one, your anime or what ever you call those and your nude are my favorite.
Sweetcell (Mar 9, 2008)
I'm top dog? When did that happen? I must have lost the memo from Marcello the owner.

As for Gerry she doesn't draw here anymore.

Hmmmm top dog. I think I'll make that into a T-shirt.

Hey! Gerbear, you are the reason I was on here, came looking for you. You are missed at youdraw. I am also lured by the color and will be frequenting both sites I feel. I did check out your gallery yesterday when I found you but got busy playing with the colors and didn't post a comment. I also didn't know at the time that you could save unfinished so it really didn't take me so long to draw, I left it on the screen while I went to do some stuff. Good to see Tandrew as well.
Sweetcell (Apr 25, 2006)
So your catfreek from youdraw, well, good first try.
gerbear (Apr 25, 2006)
Good to see you. I hope I have time for both. I want to start doing paintings real time, I have been too busy teaching to do my own work in ages, so this is excellent preparation for that. I have an offline program like this, but the feedback helps. Lets me know what ppl like. I know what I like, but am always surprised by others reactions *L* I will still try to see the galleries of my friends at YouDraw. I saw Prakash is leaving. That makes me sad. Do you know Sweetcell? She is from YouDraw too. Also tandrew and Gemmy. :)

beautiful work :D (although i don't really like Winnie the Pooh..:S )

couldn't help but link (nsfw)
Sweetcell (Apr 25, 2006)
Not much of a Pooh lover myself, but I think it's adorable. He is more yellow though.

On a side note Winnie was an actual bear owned by a Canadian soldier who came from my home city of Winnipeg and was named after the city. Winnipeg, Winnie. When the soldier went to war he couldn't keep the bear so he gave it to an English zoo where the bear became a celebrity and the author of Poo found his inspiration and the rest is history. Yaaaa for Winnie (peg)

Oh bother. I seem to have fallen in love with this picture. <3

I do that crayon project with my kids (I am an art teacher, all ages). But we use india ink over the crayola, faster. They still love it tho now you can buy Scratch art sheets that already have it done and all you have to do is scratch..that takes the real fun out of it!!

Vidlit huh? Never heard of that before!! I watched it but will watch with sound tomorrow, don't want to wake the hubby *L* Soooooo...you do these vidlits huh? Any money in it? I am quitting teaching in the fall to persue my own artwork but would love a "side" paid art project. You have prolly seen enuff of my stuff by now to know I can do realism or whatever style is called for ina project. I did 6 illustrations for an astrology website Ezine. They paid well too and I got to keep the original art. Very nice job on the vidlit!! I recognized your style. :)

Pretty odd about Frankenstein and Flowers!! What is the chance someone was gonna mention Frankie on my flower draw? Zero? Less than zero? This happens to me every day...it is driving me insane *L* Tues. some lil kids in my art class mentioned the daughter of a woman I had not seen in 8 yrs at least. Less than 48 hours later I walk into a restaurant and there she is!! Geeeeeeez.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 24, 2006)
oh sorry... I didn't see this... I saw your comment in my forum post so I came back to reply... yes, I did 3 Vidlits... and they paid me to do them (I don't know what you'd consider "well", but I was happy with it because I loved doing it) They are short video clips advertising published books right before they hit the shelves. Here are the links to the other two: http://www.vidlit.com/trumpnation/
http://www.vidlit.com/bullrider/

Doesn't EVERYONE in their right mind think of Frankenstein when they see a flower? hah :)
gerbear (Apr 24, 2006)
Hey DBa, I went and watched Bullrider, it was great! Trumpination is not working. I tried getting there from the website also. I had never heard of a vidlit before, what a good idea!
DeTroy (May 25, 2006)
I love this flower, because to me, this picture is not so much about flowers as the way the world around throws beauty in our face. We must look for it though, and sometimes search, but it is there, in sudden surprising ways

I apologise to those above who were commenting on my original drawing. Somehow, it changed and I had no idea it was going to. I draw from "inside" a lot. This is just where the skull led me.
tandrew971 (Apr 21, 2006)
well it really did change...i love the texture to this :)
gerbear (Sep 11, 2006)
It was not when I drew this, but today it is, so I am commenting on my own drawing. I flew out of New York City exactly 24 hours before the planes hit. I was in town for a wedding, my cousin and her fiance who worked in the Trade Center for Cantor Fitzgerald on one of the floors where no one survived. Had they not married that weekend and left for their honeymoon, he would be gone now. They came back and attended dozens of funerals for his co-workers. I guess this image was inside me jes waiting to appear and finally it did.
DeTroy (Sep 27, 2006)
this is how i believe art is. It happens to you. It emerges from you. It speaks to you, as well as to others. Sometimes you can plan it, sometimes it surprises even the artist
