*gasp!* Home! lol, j/k. Great perspective, and I love the texture on the glass.

This is so real, I'm glade they cleaned the blood off. I'm more glad the institutions have installed plexiglass.:)

I'm not finished, but she looks pretty spiffy right now... I've got to go have lunch, so I'l come back later.Edit: There! Now, ain't she pretty? i know she's small, but i plan on drawing a big dragon next, so this was just for fun.
strangeoid (edited Aug 18, 2003)
Turtlebuster, i did shade her, but she's so small that you cant really notice it. I suppose that she could use more, though. Oh, and I don't care if the background matches. I was just drawing, not sending in a sketch to the historical society or anything. I could draw somebody who actually LOOKS medieval, but maybe later.
alwaysLearning (Mar 5, 2004)
This is quite pretty, and though I do agree that there's a bit of difference in feel between the background and the foreground, to me it doesn't come across as being quite as extreme a difference as it apparently does to Turtlebuster. I particularly love what you've done with her hair!My one question is whether her right (farther) shoulder is a little high, or whether it's intended to suggest that she's picking up her skirts on that side, and that's why her shoulder is lifted a bit out of true? Either way I try to interpret it, her neckline seems a bit out of true on that side, and so I've been wondering what you intended. I've been trying to master poses similar to this one, and my eye for them seems better than my hands can execute so far, but I find it helpful to learn from others' work. As a result, I'm particularly interested in details of the pose, and how to make it convincing to the eye, that's why I ask. Regardless of the answer, I still think she's quite pretty and eyecatching -- she really stands out, even at this small size and amid the assortment of other pictures in this portion of your gallery. <smile> I'm browsing through your pictures in chronological order, to see how you got to your present skill level, and seeing your earlier works is encouraging -- it gives me hope that with practise, my own work will likewise progress in skill, from the "merely pretty" (no insult intended) to the "truly stunning", as yours has. <smile>

the background is interesting with the colors and patterns.. the hand kind of bothers me..its an unnatural position..(try to hold your own hand in that position) so it doesnt look quite right generally interesting though... |

Music can inspire your subject (Violin is one of the best musical instruments ! ^^).It's a girl playing violin in front of her young brother.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 24, 2004)
I strongly agree with Marcello's suggestions. Also, if that is a mirror on the left wall, it would be reflecting something, and doesnt even contain reflections of the wall color opposite. If it were a window, it would partially continue the other window scene.Other than that, this is wonderful composition and the subjects and colors are very well executed. It also has alot of feeling - You should consider illustrating children's books!
oversoul_trump (Feb 29, 2004)
Looks really good, I like the way you did the hands.
marcello (Feb 29, 2004)
Well, I am assuming what you think is a window on the left with the clouds is probably a painting on the wall. Kind of disappointing that he did not fix the violin, but one can only do so much, I suppose.
LightBen (Mar 3, 2004)
The "window" on the left is actually a painting ^^.And for the violin ... I think I'm not gonna touch this picture as I won't be able to draw a better violin ... I should practice drawing musical instruments on paper instead ... For my next big picture :) |
