New here. Would welcome advice on the hair. Used the blender and set the opacity low, but it still looks really fake. |

Just still trying to get the tools to work. Ended up with this odd shaped canvas so made the best of it! The cloud tool is cool tho.
emmamommalag (Apr 4, 2006)
It reminds me of those old curlers... kinda like spools. Those were waaaaaay back, though. You probably don't even remember them. lol
DeTroy (Apr 5, 2006)
Now what Gerbear has achieved here is to perfectly amalgamate the images that in everybodies minds when you say flying saucer. Forget everything you see in films, and be honest...this is what a flying saucer would definitly look like....plus it comes with the optional extra of having a cheeky, animated quality....
DeTroy (Jul 13, 2006)
I think actually that saucer does not contain fierce monster life forms but a kind of cosmic teddy bear with a smiley happy face, just playing...discovering new worlds not for science or war but as places to play. They have grasped that the universe is to roam in not to make enemies but playmates, not to cause fear but friendship, not to show hate but love....they would have to be bears to know that...
QTgillie (Jun 23, 2009)
wow, I did not know you even had stuff here gerri. nicely done. |

Trying an anime draw from a ref I had on my HD. I think anime is cute but have never drawn it before.
FuzzyWuzzy (Mar 14, 2008)
*waves at Gerbear* tis me FUZZY! I have to show my daughter this one, awesome, she draws these too!
gerbear (Mar 14, 2008)
Hi Meno, keep at it, you will get the hang of it.Sweetcell, different strokes for different folks, we don't all draw online for the same reasons. I did some very successful professional pieces here yet I prefer Sketchfu. Just comparing oranges and apples Sweets. thanks Fuzzy, this is my best piece here and it took me forever!!!
QTgillie (May 20, 2008)
Geeez Gerry, I feel so bad I never came to see this. It is awesome. You are an amazing artist. |

Started with a magazine photo of rose and had so much fun playing with the program, blew off photo and just shaded. Beginning to get kind of Georgia O'Keefe-ish towards the top. I could retitle it "Realism Gone Awry?"
michaeleverett (Jun 15, 2006)
Hi Gerry no wonder you haven't been on YOUDRAW,look what your doing here.I'm so glad to see you and your work.I've missed having you around.
Meno (Mar 7, 2008)
It almost has a fragrance, it's so vivid! BEE-U-TEE-FUL :)
FuzzyWuzzy (Mar 14, 2008)
Wow, this is gorgeous!
gerbear (Mar 14, 2008)
Meno and Fuzzy thanks to you both! It has been a couple of years since I drew here, I must finish those cherries. |

Another "colored pencil approach". I work in them in real life, this is great to work up ideas for works on paper!!
PS (Oct 29, 2007)
Very nice work here, I really like the details on this.
Meno (Mar 7, 2008)
Charming, charming, and - did I mention? - charming!
QTgillie (edited Mar 8, 2008)
Hey, I did not know you were here. I love all of your stuff. Would love to see you do some more. Sketchfu has gotten boring for me, I am afraid. I have also made an enemy here and not sure how to fix it. She (sweetcell) is really pissed at me. I only memo'd her that I did not appreciate her nit picky comments. Ouch...I got a mouthful back. Now I see she is a top dog her....oh.....woe is me. Something came over me and possessed me, I swear! Miss seeing you...how is your back? Come visit.I think this one, your anime or what ever you call those and your nude are my favorite.
Sweetcell (Mar 9, 2008)
I'm top dog? When did that happen? I must have lost the memo from Marcello the owner. As for Gerry she doesn't draw here anymore. Hmmmm top dog. I think I'll make that into a T-shirt. |

This is my first draw. Just playing with tools. This did not take me 3 1/2 hrs. I forgot to turn it off and left the puter for ages.
gerbear (Apr 3, 2006)
Thanks Sweetcell..pick that jaw up, you are the talented one!DBA..oh...great initials..btw *L*..I will not fit the mold here. I will draw patterns and odd things. I teach drawing, it is kinda like being at work to do realism for me plus NO WAY could I EVER catch up to you buncha geniuses here! The work here, and yours..is beyond description.
DeTroy (edited Apr 5, 2006)
H there....I reallly love the bold and vivid use of colour here....it adds an expressive quality to the image. Now..here are the four reasons...the airfare would be too expensive............it would fade quickly in the cold..........everyone knows martians do not appreciate flowers the way we do............and it would be more luggage than there is space for in the flying saucerYou may think these are crazy reasons, but trust me they are the right ones for this image
gerbear (Apr 6, 2006)
ty DeTroy! Glad someone finally thought of some reasons! :)
Meno (Mar 7, 2008)

Marsha is a character I developed over at YouDraw. I prolly have 15 or so Marsha drawings there in black & white. I was dying to see how she liked being in color. I think she likes it and will be back with some of her stories.
MARLONSEPPALA (Apr 15, 2006)
I like how I started drawing at youdraw first and now that I have stumbled onto this site. It reminds me of when I saw my first Color T.V. show. After years of watching Black and White. But I think I'll be Awhile before I get the Handle of the tools here.. Say Gerbear I wonder how many from youdraw use the same name here.
gerbear (Apr 16, 2006)
hahaha davinci! well (thinking of all of my friends and family I am going to show these draws to), perhaps that is where she and I first met too!Marlon, hi!! I jes started here recently. I am learning the programs, but only the basics so far. The YouDrawers I know here are: Sweetcell, tandrew971, gemmy, amagic, MissDj, zep and that is all I can remember for now! Try it out, it is fun.
MARLONSEPPALA (Mar 12, 2007)
Well it's been a while since I first came here and I'm wondering just what a blur Brush is to be used for. I have tried it seems to have be a nice tool. but i don't see the effect untill I submit the drawing. that seems strange.
Miss_DJ (Mar 13, 2007)
hi Marsha! Welcome to 2draw! (hi gerbear.. :o) |

Another oddity from my mind. Did this because davinci said to try Lascaux program. The UNDO would not work so this drawing was done without a single UNDO. Lots of REDOS tho!! The program is pretty good, I didn't try all the features. It is kind of like Paint Shop Pro that I use offine and a mini photoshop.
davincipoppalag (edited Apr 3, 2006)
Glad you tried it, ths is another fun picture .
gerbear (Apr 3, 2006)
Thanks davinci! *S* I will do alot of odd pictures i am sure! Sweetcell..no...Marsha has no body *L* But she has great hairdos! *L* I think she would be pretty in color, I'll have to try.
DeTroy (Dec 15, 2006)
The alien Bear is a visitor to Mars and he loves to play with drums and loud things generally, plus all things sparkly. In fact he loves to have fun and to be full of joy. He spreads joy too..just by being himself, which is nice....as do some people. |

Somedays I rememberI apologise to those above who were commenting on my original drawing. Somehow, it changed and I had no idea it was going to. I draw from "inside" a lot. This is just where the skull led me.
tandrew971 (Apr 21, 2006)
well it really did change...i love the texture to this :)
gerbear (Sep 11, 2006)
It was not when I drew this, but today it is, so I am commenting on my own drawing. I flew out of New York City exactly 24 hours before the planes hit. I was in town for a wedding, my cousin and her fiance who worked in the Trade Center for Cantor Fitzgerald on one of the floors where no one survived. Had they not married that weekend and left for their honeymoon, he would be gone now. They came back and attended dozens of funerals for his co-workers. I guess this image was inside me jes waiting to appear and finally it did.
DeTroy (Sep 27, 2006)
this is how i believe art is. It happens to you. It emerges from you. It speaks to you, as well as to others. Sometimes you can plan it, sometimes it surprises even the artist |

experiment with technique
Opium (Apr 22, 2006)
I agree with everyone else, I love the colors! What a cool technique!
Deino (Apr 23, 2006)
Very eyecatching, those bright colors look really good!
gerbear (Apr 24, 2006)
Thank you all so much. This was fun to do.
TammyF (Jun 14, 2006)
Do I dare say it once again? This is a great technique!! It appears your experiment is a great success!!!! |
