I started out with the intention of drawing a mummified cat (don't ask) but somehow it evolved along the way. I must say I like this much better.

My favorite Ice Hockey team ^^ lol. Nice fur texture!
heh what a cunning expression. it looks so graceful and regal, but somehow sly. Very feline... very good.

Tylop2 (Jan 24, 2004)
Wow...that be why you wanted to do your own...because it owns the hell out of the crap I tried to pass off as a mech....Excelent work, and cool pose.
Look (Jan 24, 2004)
I like his expression, it's like sneaky and evil. The fire in the background is very nicely done!

okay wooohoo. i think this came okay..my first switch from using my right hand on a touchpad, to using my left on a tablet....any suggestions on shading? perspective? tablet stuff? anything? thanks!
hehe...maybe look at a few things on proportions...
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 24, 2004)
Dixie this shows you are learning! Really creative idea, and the highlights on her are cool! I dont see anything drastically wrong with the proportions of this - the above might be referring to perspective a bit, but we havent really gotten into that too much yet. (We will) The angles of what she is standing on and a variation of colors in the ground would help with that.

as usual, went back to fix a tiny detail and overworked it to death....another lesson learned ....sigh
The patterns look great; it's a great pic, but that cat's tail kinda scares me... it's very... um ...rigid

i truly appreciate the comments on this piece. and typical of my luck i sit down to make him better and get called away, i will be back and finish him in a bit. oh and i completely see now how the tail was too stiff but we got him from a shelter and he had been abused and his tail broken nd it didnt bend in the middle...strange kitty lol....hmm inspiration for another drawing? lol

HAHA. okay, if she wasnt scary before...she is now. i tried some shading, and now she just looks bruised, lol. umm...guess its >>back to the drawing board<< *hehe* im gonna practice some light/dark stuff *sigh*
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 21, 2004)
Okay, Dix, it's not _that_ scary. :) lol. It's really great for a beginning. With every piece you do, you'll learn and evolve. On this one, I think your choice of colors is really good, even in the skin tones. For the shading on a face, try to remember to highlight the plains and darken the receding places for shadows. Blend it with the rest of the face. And for shading in your backgrounds and with objects, to get perspective remember that colors are less vibrant the farther away they are, and things are less defined in general. Now practice some more! And if u have a tablet, USE IT! You've got talent! Love ya Dixie. :)

A lizard like animals.
concannon (Jan 19, 2004)
It's spelled 'gecko'. With a 'c'. And if you're curious as to what a gecko is/looks like, use Google.

i love the way you shade these draws. and so fast!
cmb (Jan 18, 2004)
I cant help it! Once the basic drawing was done I didnt want to alter it too much as it would have lost the freshness...
An impressionist? <grin>
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 18, 2004)
I really like the way this one resembles a water color painting. Im glad you didnt overwork it and ruin it! Some works are just like that. Nice to see you in color, btw. :)
