So here I was, in the middle of the night, just wandering the halls and through the galleries in Celloland, and I stumbled upon this wonderfully executed piece of art. Everything about it is wonderful, I love it.

Lovely silvery fishie. I don't like fish myself (If you can't pet it I don't want it) but this ones quite a pretty thing.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Nov 8, 2006)
You don't need to explain what you draw and why you draw it to hideyourface. If it makes you happy just "do it". You can paint a fish and he can't.
MrPaul (Nov 9, 2006)
Wow, I'm salivating! The light source is captured beautifully on the top side of the fish and the left half of the fish is rendered extremely realistically... well done! :)

Sweetcell: At least the fish won't leave presents all over the house for you to clean up!
The_Chosen (Dec 6, 2006)
yes but they do leave presents in the water for the filter to get and then you have to clean the filter XP I just did that too nasty job

Wooh. This strikes me everytime I scroll over it.
It's one of those hopeless overreacted smiley faces.

Thanks everyone, it was actually suppose to be a caricature of Nancy Pelosi, but maybe subconsciously I was thinking of Jerri Blank from Strangers with Candy. Ouf, either their resemblance is uncanny or I’m just going to have to work doubly hard on my next caricature. haha! Thanks again. :)

I agree with Davinci-you got this nailed.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Nov 7, 2006)
Yeah, reduce the size of the mouth a little, add blonde hair... there I am. Oh, and a little heroin addict-like mascara smears under the eyes to accentuate the already dark circles naturally there. My brothers and I used to "compete" at who could stay up the longest... they had their guitars and I would paint... I usually won, unfortunately I still win. As cops, sometimes when they change to night shifts they come over and say, hey sister, you gotta keep me awake tonight, I'm changing schedules tomorrow. Now they are sleeping and I only sleep when it's drug induced. That is when I don't sleep walk through the drugs and get into trouble before I find the bed.

Yeah, the JOYS of INSOMNIA. Yeee motherf!@#$haw.

I have read from more than one source that this is a most common ailment among artists. We tend to suffer from it more than others.

I like the blocky shading + strong outline, it's awesome. Not sure how useful it is for anatomy practice but it's a cool graphic effect.
Dr.Snoopy (Oct 29, 2006)
MrPaul, thanks for pointing that out...I din#t really noticed that before.
Well it was just intended to be very quick anatomy practice mixed with some graphical stuff to make it watchable in this board...but these tips do actually help....so don't stop ^^
And yeah I noticed the big head and hands too...but they do fit very well (original).

This is the issue with using paintings and sculptures as reference, they are never 100% correct. And this is why I hate my anatomy-book ...it's full of lousy handmade drawings(or doodles), and it tell you to draw people in real life. But this is hard, because I'm not going to find a naked person, willing to pose for me a few hours a day, that easily.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Oct 29, 2006)
I like the way it's kind of in a "poster edge" style and the palette is really pleasing. I don't think everything has to be anatomically correct to be pleasing (actually, a little "morphing" of that in a work like this makes it more interesting sometimes)
friend (Oct 29, 2006)
Very sexy, yes.

A TRAITOR IS ABOUT TO BE HONORED KEEP THIS MOVING ACROSS AMERICA This is for all the kids born in the 70's who do not remember, and didn't have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older brothers and sisters had to bear. Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the "100 Women of the Century." Hi everyone, this is my first post here at 2draw. I thought it would be fitting to draw a self-portrait for my introduction. A friend from paintchat introduced me to this site recently and ever since I’ve been shocked and amazed at all the talent that runs rampant on this site! I also have a tendency of discarding my art quickly out of boredom, so maybe this site can help me break that bad habit. Comments & Critiques are always welcomed… I’m here to learn, grow, and maybe make some new friends along the way. Ok, discuss! Ciao.
