For a moment there, that almost sounded condescending.

You may find it easier with shi-painter advanced, since all the buttons are in plain view. (though the floating windows get annoying)
Go to config, which is next to "logged in as lost_punk747" and click "applet options". Choose oekaki shi painter and switch it to advanced.

Or go use lascaux. Cello would like that. Yes. Subliminal advertising. Yes.

If this is just your first try, you should seriously continue working at it... it's excellent for a first time. It's pretty good, period.

I didn't mean to spend so long on this one... the original is here:

I made his chin too low and didn't realize until I was done coloring. I don't know how to fix that without redoing the whole picture so I'll just have to draw it again! ;)
I love it when he looks all creepy and evil like this.

one of my friends would love to c this pic! ITS AWSOME great job:)
DieChan (Apr 4, 2004)
I hate you! How do you do it?! It does too look like the picture. Except that the angle is different and the blood from the mouth is gone. Other than that, I WUV IT!
Deformed (Apr 4, 2004)
Holy shit! ?This is by far the best rk pic I have ever seen!!
TheCrimsonKing (Apr 8, 2004)
I agree because kenshin is normally such a goofy character, I particularly like the way he reassures himself so much, with the "This I do's" and "That I don'ts".
One thing though, I never liked the way the artist drew their noses, to me they are just to pointy and OVERLY exaggerated. I don't know if you agree, but it would be nice since you are sight copying these pictures, if you add your own little touches besides the background. Just an Idea. Nice image.

Wierd idea I got. I know the shoulder looks like Dexter St Jock pulled it out of socket, but it's too late to fix it now, I say.

this is awesome, i think it bears name and place for advanced
marcello (Apr 4, 2004)
nope, definitely not advanced yet.
why? for one, the lineart is somewhat crude, with not enough attention paid to things such as the shoulder, ears, had, pocket, and quality of the line itself. the shading is a little confusing with no apparent light source, yet very sharp shadows. one might expect a little texture in some of the surfaces.
overall, it works, but isn't advanced material.
DinoFlorist (Apr 4, 2004)
It's pretty good! Actually Marcello is right about all of those things. It's physically impossible for the shoulder to bulge up like that. I don't know what the trouble with the pocket is. The hand does not look right in any way. I'm sure that if you tried again with those ideas in mind, you could make a really great picture; but this is good as it is. Don't get too caught up in realism.
Deformed (Apr 5, 2004)
Did I say advanced? I meant intermediate. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I still realy like it though.

Advanced = Opinion?
Wolfheart (Apr 4, 2004)
Hmm... this question dawned on me before I was going to start a drawing, while listening to Led Zeppelin (yes nothing to do with the topic), and I thought I'd share it with you good folks here. This may ahve already been discussed, but oh well, to the point: What is advanced? There are many many many many, perhaps endless amounts of art styles, and some are similar, and some are complete opposites, but who is to say which ones are advanced quality? I mean, abstract art, some of Picasso's abst...

like the other pretty ones in hakkai's refugee board. please stay here and keep me and the lonely orphans company.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Mar 28, 2004)
Love the palette used here, and I agree... the things that seem like they'd be simple can be difficult. Did a great job at executing this one.
