Gigge (Jul 12, 2004)
Well, it could stand some more work but, all the really helpful tips that people have seem to come after I've 'finished'. So, I'm setting this to finished. Hopefully, I'll come back to it....eventually. Reference: http://www.skcv.com/girls%20laugh.JPG

Based on a Muscle & Fitness photo of an amateur bodybuilder. Doing early drawings of someone this abnormally muscular may come back to bite me but, I wanted to do it.

Yes, it's excellent, Gigge. You can actually see the blood vessels in his arm! Wow! And how DID you manage to smooth his skin?
laurael (Jul 11, 2004)
Very nice, Gigge! Love the way ya got his neck muscles popping out. That arm muscle is sweet and the dumbell looks good too... :)
sal (Jul 15, 2004)
he looks very buff.. lol the higlights and shadin on the skin look great...
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
This is pretty cool, I like the detail you've done, right down to the veins in his arms.

You all are so observant! Yeah, the monument is too short. I was having great trouble getting it thin so I 'fattened it up a bit which made it look shorter than it is. I seem to have fallen asleep while drawing this. It was supposed to be at night with fireworks and no blossoms on the trees. Go figure.
emmamommalag (Jul 4, 2004)
Oh, but it's absolutely beautiful with the blossoms. Great work, Gigge.
LovelyLori (Jul 4, 2004)
:( this is one of those pics that my pc makes disappear... why on earth does that happen? just to some? so weird.... wish I could see it close up, but the thumbnails look gorgeous anyway!
davincipoppalag (Jul 5, 2004)
I dont know why that happens either Lori..but try this left click on the picture (where it should be) and then when the dropdown shows..click on "show picture' see if that works

@!*@%^#$%#! Lascaux! This was really a hands study, http://www.reinhardschmid.de/myhands/photos/hands35_2g_s.jpg. The background was just because I've been working on faces and light and dark.

Thanks for all the compliments and especially the suggestions on how to improve. They really help me.
laurael (Jun 29, 2004)
Wow...the hands are so realistic...and I love that ring. Fabulous job, Gigge...wow. :]
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 29, 2004)
Very nice hands, and good distribution of light and shadows. Love how the ring and the irises match.
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
All I can say on this one, is Wow! The details on wrinkling and texture on the hands is fantastic.

I don't think it's flat. I think it's pretty good. It does beg the remark " pull my finger" lol...
audie (edited Jun 17, 2004)
WOW! I really like this picture.Hands are really hard to get right and you've captured them beautifully!
cmb (Jun 17, 2004)
I just came to draw- but had to comment- what a lovely picture- are you working from a photograph? fine shading!
Gigge (Jun 17, 2004)
Ooh, yeah thanks forgot to mention....I used a photo from an 'AIDS Relief' site (I think).

First attempt at cliffs and waterfall. When did trees become so difficult?

Not bad Gigge.. the edges need some sharpening, and the cliffs could use some more horizontal elements to break up the vertical striations.. but this is nice..

Thanks for the suggestions, Poppa.
Knockoff (Jun 17, 2004)
Ohh, this is really nicely done.
I love the depth. And the little waterfall is nice.
If you put more detail into each thing (grass, trees) becuase overall you have a lot of detail, but it looks flat in some spots. Still very nice.
emmamommalag (Jun 17, 2004)
That's better, Gigge, now that you've sharpened it up some. It's a very nice picture.
