Ahhh...kejo..but what a terrific name for a rock band.."Lesbian Hyenas"
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Oct 20, 2004)
Kind of like you would really "see it in the dark"... I love that documentary about the lions and the hyenas - fascinating.
Gigge (Oct 20, 2004)
"Reproduction in the female spotted hyena has sparked intense scientific interest because the animal is extremely masculinized from high levels of male hormones and she gives birth through an elongated clitoris the same size as a penis. Scientists have wondered what evolutionary advantage could offset the dangers of this strange reproductive system."

I vaguely recall hearing that female hyenas have the highest childbirth mortality rate of any mammal. I never stopped to think why. Ick. *shivers*
Xodiak (Oct 20, 2004)
I once saw a hyena licking the hand of a man. That sounds cute rather than terrifying. But I have also seen how another man's face was mutilated after a hyena attack. A hyena can crush bones in its jaws, it can crash them like biscuits. <:)

I like the kid... looks so calm and serene... I have to type in quiet now so I would not wake up the little child. This drawing is so nice I am kind of sad for having baby eating habits... <:/

This one is rife with symbolism. I read a description of the Latvian goddess Mara, http://www.angelfire.com/al2/LatvianStuff/Earth26waterdeities.html, and decided to to try to depict her. Some of the symbols like the skeleton representing death are obvious, some like the odd number of flowers signifying good tidings or benevolance are not unless you're familiar with Latvian culture. I've never seen any of the Latvian deities drawn, but this is how I imagined one would look.

Gigge (Aug 9, 2004)
Wow, thanks for the comments! I didn't think it would get any since it's a bit creepy and the subject is very esoteric.
