Feets!
Gigge
(Jun 29, 2004)
Thought I'd take a stab at feet and drawing from black up to white. Maybe next time I'll try drawing instead of stabbing. http://www.rbuhsd.k12.ca.us/classpgs/photography2003/stroh/feet.jpg
EphemeralFlames (Jun 30, 2004)
This is a very lovely drawing, I love the shading and style... but, if you don't mind my saying, it would look more... natural... if the back foot was more in forward space, it almost looks like the wrong foot is in front if you know what I mean. And less of the bottom of that foot would be showing, the arch of the sole would be narrower. You did a really great job though, feet and hands are my enemy...
Gigandas (Jul 3, 2004)
Hmm, I really like how the water seems like it's flowing across and down the steps even in a still picture :)...
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
This is nice....it almost feels ghostly.
Cordelia_Pink (Jul 26, 2004)
nice FEET! lol they kinda look like... my feet. no, actually, not really though. good job. awesomely awesome. =) |

just doodlin'....
davincipoppalag (Jun 14, 2004)
Am I the only one who sees a face?
Gigge (Jun 14, 2004)
I dunno. I can't see anymore. Too busy crying over the spilled milk.....,,,,,,,..comment. :D
emmamommalag (Jun 14, 2004)
I don't know about a face.. I see a white dog with spots of different colors.
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
This is awesome......I love work like this, simple use of colors making a beautiful picture. |

Thanks for the comments/advice on the last draw. I put in a few harder lines on this draw, but I didn't use the anti-alies to do thin highlights. I found that it blurs the line too much and makes the line 2 or three pixels wide. What worked better for me was turning off the anti-alias and blend and using a low opacity and high flow to draw thin highlights. But, thanks for the suggestion!Ok...i sharpened the bowl slightly, added a touch more definitiion to the glass outline and 'clarified' the base of the glass. Thanks for the hints.
deannak24 (Jun 15, 2004)
fab gigge .....is beautiful nice to see you drawing here as well as in the game
davincipoppalag (Jun 16, 2004)
I think what it is about this is the bg kind of camouflages the glass.. I think with a different bit of color back there the glass would stand out more... its much better as I stare at it.. but that bg hides it...
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
Just browsing yer board....this one is beautiful! I love the blending and colors, especially the contrast between the grey and the wine. LOL....sorry, but I think of things in terms of where I'd like to see them....this would make an absolutely beautiful cover for a wine menu. |

Here's the reference: http://www.jimemery.com/people/oldluckettsman.jpg. This is turning out quite different from the original. I hope it's not too bad in the end. I just read the photo caption and the guy lives in a neighboring county! Not good to offend your neighbors.
Aubrey (Jun 26, 2004)
Agreed about poppa's suggestions. Both hands need to be dulled down a bit. As it is now they're barely noticeable, but with a little shading they'll look great. That's a great reference picture. Your take on it is comin along nicely :)
Gigge (Jun 26, 2004)
:S Out of space again. I need you guys standing over my shoulder making these suggestions before I submit! Hmmm
deannak24 (Jun 27, 2004)
gigge you so lied when i 1st took you into a sketch program about you not being able to draw.....shame on you cos you have put me to shame....i love your detail and im expecting lessons very soon lol
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)

@!*@%^#$%#! Lascaux! This was really a hands study, http://www.reinhardschmid.de/myhands/photos/hands35_2g_s.jpg. The background was just because I've been working on faces and light and dark.
Gigge (Jun 29, 2004)
Thanks for all the compliments and especially the suggestions on how to improve. They really help me.
laurael (Jun 29, 2004)
Wow...the hands are so realistic...and I love that ring. Fabulous job, Gigge...wow. :]
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jun 29, 2004)
Very nice hands, and good distribution of light and shadows. Love how the ring and the irises match.
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
All I can say on this one, is Wow! The details on wrinkling and texture on the hands is fantastic. |

Experimenting with skin tones. Color scares me big time. I don't know what her name is. She just looked kind of like a Stephany in her reference picture. Then again she was kind of pretty in the reference picture.
sal (Jun 30, 2004)
nice pic... kinda pale tho, *darker darks, lighter lights* good draw anyway... the eyes r very nice..O_O
davincipoppalag (Jul 1, 2004)
Same girl..I posted about how freaky it was to see this picture (which, btw looks exactly like our friend!)
01 (Jul 1, 2004)
I wish somebody clued me in on how to create textures like the one you used on this girl's clothing =)
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
I like this one even more...nice skin tones, love the texture on her dress....You gedda pick the aminal cookies you want. |

I'm sorry lady. I tried a different technique on the skin tone. Oy.
davincipoppalag (Jul 1, 2004)
Now this is freaky. I have friends who live in Tennessee and the wife's name is Stephanie. When I saw the picture, my wife looked and said "someone drew Steph!" How wierd!
laurael (edited Jul 2, 2004)
I like how you did her hair and her eyes...her right brow looks pretty real with that little bit of extra detail under it...nice!
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
I like this! nicely done. |

Based on a Muscle & Fitness photo of an amateur bodybuilder. Doing early drawings of someone this abnormally muscular may come back to bite me but, I wanted to do it.
emmamommalag (Jul 11, 2004)
Yes, it's excellent, Gigge. You can actually see the blood vessels in his arm! Wow! And how DID you manage to smooth his skin?
laurael (Jul 11, 2004)
Very nice, Gigge! Love the way ya got his neck muscles popping out. That arm muscle is sweet and the dumbell looks good too... :)
sal (Jul 15, 2004)
he looks very buff.. lol the higlights and shadin on the skin look great...
JackSprat (Jul 26, 2004)
This is pretty cool, I like the detail you've done, right down to the veins in his arms. |

Still working on faces....How old does she look to you?
LovelyLori (Jul 9, 2004)
I'm very happy for you people who understand how to make skin look real... I really am :)
debem (Jul 10, 2004)
Nice work! The lines around her eyes and the darkening of her teeth lead me to believe that she is in her mid 30's.
davincipoppalag (Jul 11, 2004)
She's eleven but she's had a hard life....
Gigge (Jul 11, 2004)
Hahaha, funny thing is, the girl must have been about 12 in the original image. She looks in her late 20's to me....so.....I guess I need to work on kids. Gotta remember they have bigger foreheads and shorter noses. So much to learn!! |

I wanted to draw a dragon. No reference.
Aubrey (Jul 10, 2004)
It looks great! A bouquet of dragon heads lol At first I thought they were flowers til I got a closer look. Neat idea Gigge!
15grifficorntears (Jul 10, 2004)
that's really cleaver.
JackSprat (Jul 10, 2004)
but....theres no efalents.....couldnt you have painted snap-efalents?
Gigge (Jul 10, 2004)
Nope but, maybe I could think about painting an efalent cootie picture. |
