this is very pleasing to look at, the full figure and a wonderful choice of colors. She reminds me a bit of J-Lo.
Zack (Feb 18, 2006)
This is a cool picture. I like the style it's done in. Even though I usually don't like some of the colors in there, you made them work really well. The way the sash thing with the hearts on it almost matches her skintone really threw me off at first though, and had me wondering if I was looking at a bare-bellied dancing pregnant woman. Just a small change of shade or color for that should fix it.
patienceisoverrated (Feb 18, 2006)
the bare-bellied dancing pregnant woman bit made me laugh... it's like those chicks in the yogurt commercial. I hadn't noticed that. Thanks.

I think you and I are the only ones who use pictures from books to draw from. Everyone else seems to use online pics. I like this one, too, but I think the lines you use for the legs and the head should be smooth, thinner, and shiny. The wings look nice.
Felistorm (Feb 18, 2006)
Thank you. :D Yep I for some reason am not so good with the online pics. I knew there was something bugging me about the butterfly. LOL :D Your insight actually helps alot keep the comments coming. ;)

I'm arachnophobic myself but have always been completely enthralled by garden spiders. :D I forgot to add that I saw this one in a childrens book and kinda fixed it up some. ;) Ihad a picture of my neice going a couple of days ago and got sooooo upset cause I had it looking good and my browser closed and it would never come back up. Ugh. :O :P
davincipoppalag (Feb 17, 2006)
I'm with you ,Jana. I am not a big fan of them, either..but they do fascinate me. I did one too, a long time back..creeped me out doing it.

He should have a combat patch on his right shoulder were the flag is and the flag under that, then it would be perfect. Wearing the patch in this manner signifies that he was deployed to a combat zone. Great peice.

SYTHE, Thanks for the heads-up on the meaning of the patch above the flag. This is of the return of a friend and his wife. He proudly served in Iraq and arrived home safe on Thanksgiving night.
emmamommalag (Jan 21, 2006)
This is a lovely tribute to your friend. I'm glad he arrived home safe and sound and I'm grateful to him for his service to our country.

Great series! But how many times can a man get flattened in his lifetime? :P

I love how you never reveal the face of Larry's wife.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Feb 10, 2006)
So in this rendition of the story, shouldn't Gladys be the good witch of the North Trailer Park, instead of Glenda? She could add a few sequins to her turquoise robe and use a feather duster (or a flyswatter, whatever's handy) for her magic wand, you see. AND seems to me that Larry's haggly wife ought to be in charge of the flying monkeys this go round. uhuh. Everybody else (including Larry... gets to take a picnic lunch to Opiate Park (where the poppies grow, of course) where they get wasted on poppy fumes, while eating poppyseed cake. Meanwhile, Larry's haggly wife is busy tending the monkeys and he hooks up with this young chick that blew on over from the trailer park, as well. I think her name is Dorothy? Then Wanda shows up, and it's like a free for all between Gladys, Wanda, Larry's wife and Dorothy... that's when the poppies hit the fan, you see, and Larry wonders if the circus midgets from the trailer park can rescue him from the war zone.
Felistorm (Feb 11, 2006)
Ummm Has DBA been hanging out in the poppy field awhile? *giggles. :D I see some ideas in there. :D I am loving this series and always look forward to the next one. Love the little flowerpot. :P

lol whenever I see your name, it reminds me of SOAD's song, Vicinity of Obscenity, cause it goes 'banana banana banana terracotta banana terracotta terracotta pie.' :)
I'd make an actual comment on this drawing and the rest of your works, but I'm sure both you and I know you rock, hehe.

Okay I was in math learning about Using Integrals to find out the Volume of odd shapes. The teacher couldn't draw the volume of y=1-x^2, and I drew it, and I was inspired to draw this. That is all. I must eat lunch.

you're very welcome... and thank you.
Sweetcell (Feb 4, 2006)
Just coming back to this, I know I'm a newbie and all, but this deserves showcase (and not just because it was a request of mine.)
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 4, 2006)
I am flattered that you think so, and I'm glad you like it, but it really is lacking in most of the things I think make a piece worthy of the Showcase. I'm not going to tell you why, because I'd have to beat up my own picture (heh)... it'll be fine right here in my gallery. Just glad you like it. :)
Sweetcell (Feb 4, 2006)
Ok, you know best, but I see things like this, and that's what I think, just glad to enjoy them.

Loving the fence and the planets and well all of it. One of those you can see a story beginning in there. :D
mx (Feb 3, 2006)
id like to think that that is not planets...rather like a hole in the canvas or objects on it....It seems as if there is even the faintest of shadows that go diaganol that even add more depth

interesting
