I've been doing the whitetail "game management" muzzleloading rifle hunt for the State at the park here, and one night I helped the State park police and rangers track one of the hunter's deer through hundreds of yards of tall, dead grass. I'm not sure why his didn't go down immediately, we're shooting civil war "cannons"... mine had an exit wound bigger than Dallas. Anyway... that was my inspiration for this, and I didn't need a reference because I've seen this so many times after bowhunting that the image is burned into my mind. I didn't quite get the effect I wanted with the flashlight...I usually flare mine where there's a circle of light and no center point of light, and it was kind of foggy that night. I played with it long enough to lose my patience... but it was fun experimenting.

Most of the time it's like spring here on Christmas day, but I don't mind because I love the Grinch. It's been freezing rain and all cold and sloshy and yucky for days... at least today it was big, fat, fluffy snowflakes, and it stayed on the ground. Usually when it snows here it melts when it hits. It's so rare that people will use it as a "year marker".... like "Was that the year it snowed?" :) I'm just not much of a cold weather person, I'm a beach bum. I've been going outside and wiggling my toes in the snow... it's fun, but it just doesn't have the same effect as warm sand.

Looks photographic. Don't like to think about the background of the subject, but great grass.

Men who start to go bald, shave their heads and retain their self confidence are much sexier than a man with a full head of hair, even. Comb overs are just..... EWWW, gross. What man would want a woman that would base her attraction to him on whether or not he had hair, anyway? I don't understand the logic in it.

I love your cartoons. I still think you should have a line of cards... you really ought to pursue that.
lori (edited Jan 19, 2007)
thank you, I'm just so damn lazy
My father used to do the comb over for years, then my son was born and he loved messing it up so he finally shaved it... much needed makeover... it was hilarious messed up though :)
davincipoppalag (Jan 19, 2007)
I agree with Cindy.. that dork line would sell like hotcakes...(especially the ones with combovers))
Sweetcell (edited Jan 19, 2007)
I was introduced to a friends friends sister's boyfriend who had a combover, I've seen a few but I never saw one this bad and obvious (and the man was just barely middleage) It took a hell of a lot of control not to laugh whenever I looked his way. And the idiot thought he looked hot. God, just shave the damn thing off. Your not fooling anyone (besides yourself)

Oh, ditto to the card thing. I've seen plenty of cartoons like these in the funny section.

this was one of those things that demanded to be drawn and wouldn't stop tickling my brain until I did.

There are so many of your pictures I want to comment on! I love them all! This one too, the kiss is so real! it's not like drawing two overlapping people, it's visibly a soft kiss, and thats what i really like about it. So good. So good.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 18, 2007)
I'm glad someone pulled this up from your gallery, I hadn't seen it. I'm also glad your brain is ticklish... :). I like the hard, definitive lines you used here... I wouldn't have thought of that in a depiction of a ghost, but it really works here.

i was thinking to myself today, i have no idea how people can use lascaux...so i decided, that before giving up on it completely, i should try one last time to use it.
im actually a little pleased with what i came up with.
true its no work of axil, redpanda, DBA, staci, everdream, cello, and many others here, but hey, its a start.
maybe i will start putting about 90% more effort into stuff i do.
how about that?
and how about flying pigs?

It looks like someone put his bowl on top of the stove and set the temp to high. Poor thing. Love the coloring and the sparklies.
