Just figured I would post something here since it's been quite a while since the last update.

But, there are no updates, so carry on!

Let's make this more interesting.

Name the one thing you wish 2draw had. That is, one thing you think would make it a better place.

Happy holidays!

Well lemme revamp my wish then.
I wish that 2Draw had a pee pee and a hoo hoo so that we would never have to leave the site.

Shanghai (edited Dec 22, 2006)
More skins would be nice~

I'm thinking a darth vader theme: black text on black background with black borders and just a hint of the dark side.

-and if it's suppose to be a trick question, like the whole spirit of giving thing during christmas where you're not suppose to care about what you get or how much but about goodwill towards all, then I change my answer to "love"
  icon
Sweetcell (Dec 22, 2006)
How about a picture of your face on the main page, animated, welcoming everybody. :)

Merry Holidays Marcello.

Expendable-Studios (Dec 24, 2006)
how about collabing on different boards because some people can't draw on some boards :[

Shanghai (Dec 24, 2006)
whatwhat? Collabs can be done on any board. The collabs board is specially made for them and is intermediate level (although you wouldn't know it from looking at some of those collabs), but any submission on any board can have collabers added to it~
  icon
Cameo (Dec 24, 2006)
I think it would be nice to have a feature where we could put art work from our favorite artist on our desktop. (or does 2draw already have that?) If we could do that, I know I would be constantly changing mine. Probably every day!
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Dec 24, 2006)
You could do that by just going to the piece of art you want, right click on it, and select save as background.
  icon
Visual-Kei (Dec 24, 2006)
I want a search feature for searching art on this site. I dont like having to search through the boards to find a picture :(
  icon
Expendable-Studios (Dec 24, 2006)
i mean like when you join a collab but the board they use isn't the one you're used to. i hate it when i can't collab :P
  icon
Sweetcell (Dec 24, 2006)
Well since we're being serious a flip tool on Lascaux.

Hey, Merry Christmas everyone.
  icon
senshi (Dec 24, 2006)
an anime filter. please?
What is that? What you mean?

Shanghai (Dec 25, 2006)
i mean like when you join a collab but the board they use isn't the one you're used to. i hate it when i can't collab :P

when you say "board" are you secretly meaning "applet?" Because I know that you know all about the beginner board, intermediate board, advanced, etc. Shi-painter and Lascaux are applets (like tiny apples that you just want to munch), not boards~
  icon
Childlike_Vampire (Dec 25, 2006)
Happy I Got a New Tablet Day!
All I want for Christmas is animations in Lascaux. :D
  icon
marcello (Dec 25, 2006)
don't we all
  icon
BlitzCloud (Dec 26, 2006)
all I want is a way to work with lascaux offline, which means being able to save more times the drawing without needing to spend much space here.
So after all, Im talking about making lascaux a standalone painting program, where you could collab online using direct IP (kinda what Opencanvas does).

So we would have a lobby, where people create their rooms (hosted by themselves) to really collaborate online, at the same time... with the possibility to upload it here when finished.

Shanghai (Dec 26, 2006)
so basically you want this to finally be version 1.0.
  icon
Expendable-Studios (Dec 26, 2006)
sorry, i mean applet :]
  icon
LadyBlader (Dec 30, 2006)
Oh, how abaout something like a favorites list? Then I wouldn't have to go back and search for the kewlest oekakis on the site. XD
Happy holidays! Or, Happy New Year, since Christmas is over...
  icon
Nightmare (Dec 30, 2006)
This is 2draw, not Mywasteoftime.

A few new CSS themes would be nice.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Dec 30, 2006)
don't we all
I don't want animation in Lascaux. I don't like it when people are able to watch me struggle.
  icon
Childlike_Vampire (Jan 1, 2007)
Fair enough DBA, I am unsure but there are some oekaki that let you choose the option of animation or not. I'd just like the animation...for myself, really. Mostly for my unfinisheds...it's hard for me to get back into a drawing that's half done if I can't see my thought process up to that point. Plus, I also like to watch the animations of people better than me so that I can learn...it has helped me immensely over the years since I've been here. It's the main reason I fell in love with oekaki in the first place, or else I'd just use photoshop or maybe I wouldn't use digital art at all.

I mean, I understand why there isn't any now, I can't do anything about it but ask for it for Christmas every year, lol. No worries. I still love 2draw. ^^

suzy_age_4 (edited Jan 11, 2007)
I think it'd be nice to be able to specify, in pixels, the size of your workspace in addition to the size of the canvas.

(edit: I realized this probably doesn't make sense if you normally use lascaux sketch, since the applet size is pretty reasonable, I meant this suggestion specifically for Shii painter. Currently the applet opens up a workspace that's pretty damn big, and it involves a lot of scrolling to hit the zoom in and zoom out buttons and the undo button.)

Dr.Snoopy (Jan 2, 2007)
Larger thumbnails on the front page would be nice.
  icon
Axil62 (Jan 2, 2007)
a blocking feature that would enable me to block whoever's art I don't want to see. I know there is an age setting, but that blankets everyone's art in the 18+ and up categories. I just want to be able to block specific people.
  icon
Nightmare (Jan 2, 2007)
I like that idea. I would use it.

  icon
Kayos (Jan 3, 2007)
I wish there was some device i could plug into my head and upload direct images from my mind. :D
The real think Id like is a scaleing feature and a selecteble rotation tool~ not just 90 degree turns in lascaux.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 3, 2007)
I would like it if people wouldn't leave their tacky Christmas lights up until "f"ing Easter. TAKE THEM DOWN, PEOPLE!!!!

Also, I would like a postal feature that would re-route all baby and wedding shower invitations I receive, and if by some horrid act of God I have to attend one, a feature that will silence all of the magpie women while they chatter endlessly about nothing. (so far they only stop while shoveling handfulls of nuts or buttermints in their mouths) Can you fix that, Marcello?

While you're at it, I don't mind hunting in the rain but my pistol gets wet and I have to take it apart and clean it, which is a pain in the ass. Any suggestions, there? Also, my RadioFlyer has a squeaky wheel. Oh... did that mean stuff at 2draw? Well, just in case somebody is granting general wishes...
  icon
Miss_DJ (Jan 3, 2007)
a search feature would be great.
an anime board for only anime
more tutorials so we can get better.
less oh so obvious clique' bullshit...oops, did I say that out loud?

thanks for making this site, Marcello, it's my fortress of solitude.
  icon
Plastik_Dolly (Jan 5, 2007)
A better place? BLOCK OUT CUSS WORDS. It's flippin' annoying hearing inappropriate words to me, especially since I am mearly 12 years old, like many others are.
Also, how about making a board for just doodling? I can't seem to draw according to rules, and I hear from my friend that she gets many comments on her pieces as just doodles.

Merry Kwanamas.
  icon
marcello (Jan 5, 2007)
You're not supposed to be on this site if you're under 13.
  icon
Pantera (Jan 5, 2007)
Happy Holidays everyone, or is it to late to say that? hummm dont know, anyway I guess I will put my 2cs in here as well :) An anime board for only anime would be great, not that I would use it or anything, but we seem to havy many people here that like to draw it, it would be nice for them.
Happy New Year and thanks for this site Marcello :)

Dr.Snoopy (Jan 5, 2007)
Thanks for the larger thumbnails Marcello! :)
  icon
Kayos (Jan 5, 2007)
did someone change the sight? the thumbnails are bigger! and you can actualy see what the show case picks are now! nicly done. I like the change.
  icon
davincipoppalag (edited Jan 5, 2007)
Nice new welcome page Mr Cello... I like seeing all the new stuff in one place! The new larger thumbnails are nice ..but the Showcase pics dont rotate anymore? Always shows the same ones?
  icon
Kloxboy (Jan 5, 2007)
I think it's awesome myself, good change.
  icon
marcello (Jan 5, 2007)
davinci: having them rotate added an extra second to the page load. I might make them rotate at a later point, but for now, I think the speed gain is worth it.
  icon
Axil62 (Jan 5, 2007)
I like it and I don't like it. cool

Shanghai (Jan 5, 2007)
Did I hear someone say tutorials? Well I'm working on adding to it now. Maybe suggestions on exactly what people want to see would get the right ones done faster though.

to tide everyone over until then, here's

redpanda's guide to drawing:

Step 1. With absolute concentration put your pencil on the paper.

Step 2. Calmly, carefully, bring to mind what you wish to draw.

Step 3. Now turn to watch TV and go *wigglewigglewiggle* all over the paper.
  icon
xiau (Jan 5, 2007)
I came onto 2Draw and was all "OMFGGG BIG THUMBNAILS."

You, Marcello, are awesome indeed.
  icon
zep (edited Jan 5, 2007)
ooops i didn´t read the ONE condition term, so...

1.-Like axil´s idea about blocking people
2.-I wish to know who look into my draws, all of them, not only from people who left comments (pure vanity, i think)
3.-About the rotate feature from the showcase, i think the "extra second" is worth it
4.-An "add to faves" feature, maybe a folder in the studio
5.-Some mod telling why she/he showcase a draw, like clox in the contest board...(i mean Klox, hey Cello, can i change my user name without to open another account?)
6.-I hope everybody have (has?) a beautiful holidays
7.-A big new year´s hug to everyody
  icon
marcello (Jan 5, 2007)
that's kind of an invasion of privacy? what about the number of views?
  icon
zep (Jan 5, 2007)
yeah, that is what i meant Cello, sorry..... my english sucks

Shanghai (edited Jan 5, 2007)
so you want to know how many look at your drawings at the expense of a new year's hug? Well, I guess I know where I stand in the list of priorities. ;_;

DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 5, 2007)
I was thinking today after I washed the same old dishes in the same old sink and put on the same old jeans and closed the same old stupid door to my house and was driving down the same old damn road behind the same old slow farmer to the same old deer lease to shoo away the same old crazy horse from the same old gate to walk down the same old trail in the same old boots to sit in the same old tree... and on and on...that if I see one more "same old" thing today I'll just SCREAM. I almost didn't want to look here, even though this changes periodically, it was still the SAME OLD THING. But... today... IT WASN'T... IT WAS DIFFERENT! :D

Guess what? If you gut shoot a coyote with a big gun, he might be tough enough to pull his guts out and actually start eating them before he dies. Is that weird, or what? I learned something today.
  icon
marcello (Jan 5, 2007)
wow, sounds like the introduction to some superhero show. "and thus born was DIFFERENT GIRL!"
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 5, 2007)
YAY!!! Only if a get a pink cape with a sparkley DG on the back. :)

OH YEAH, there is something I want.... I want you to get staci to come back here and paint because she was one of the most talented artists I have ever witnessed, and she was one of my main inspirations. I hate to admit it, but mainly... I think it was my competitive nature... she would do this really unbelievable stuff and I had this drive to try to "outdo" her, even though I knew it wasn't possible, I still had to try, and it made me a better artist. It's just not the same around here without her.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Jan 5, 2007)
While you're at it getting Staci back here.let's get Dino drawing more, and someone find Giggle and Laurael and get Gigandas and Pix and Cobra and Kasha and quite a few others..... hell.. make Cindy draw more too!
  icon
Anna (Jan 6, 2007)

Shanghai (edited Jan 6, 2007)
DUDE ADD A SHOUT BOX

I just thought of it and I was like, yeah that's what I want!

*started cloud tutorial* link
  icon
marcello (Jan 6, 2007)
Ok, so I'm thinking of adding a premium account feature (something like $4 a month). It'd give features like unlimited space, larger canvases, more studio slots, and perhaps some other stuff like ability to change your user title and changing what applet a drawing is on mid-run (at the loss of animation/layers, of course). Is there any interest in this? Features you'd like to see in such a premium account?
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 6, 2007)
I think that would be wonderful... I'd do it... but I would insist on paying $5. $4 is just weird. :)
  icon
marcello (Jan 7, 2007)
Anyone else?

Shanghai (Jan 7, 2007)
I'd sign up for a year's worth right now.
  icon
Axil62 (edited Jan 7, 2007)
I'd do it. Directional gradient flood fill feature.
  icon
Nightmare (Jan 7, 2007)
Eh, how about you just give the premium service to those who donate?

I think the title feature would be abused, even if it was on the premium account service. I think it would be better to have a title change via contest/site involvement. Or you could just make 'x' number of quality tutorials and get a title change.
  icon
Anna (Jan 7, 2007)
I like the Premium Account feature. Good idea.
  icon
xiau (edited Jan 7, 2007)
Premium account? If that happens, I'll be sure to do whatever it takes to get the money to pay for it. So yes, I'm definately interested.
  icon
Hagaren (Jan 7, 2007)
I'm totally up for that. But with the idea of paying per month, maybe you could do it per year and add a little discount? I've seen lots of sites do that and I thought it was a good idea. o___o;
  icon
marcello (Jan 7, 2007)
it'd probably be like $50 a year. I doubt I'd actually charge by the month, too complicated.
  icon
Hagaren (Jan 7, 2007)
Dang. DD: I couldn't afford to do that every year. I think that the paying per month thing would work better for some of us. That and the fact that I don't have $50 on me right now. >__>;
  icon
Axil62 (Jan 7, 2007)
OK then...simple solution. For those who can pay $50 a year, make it $51. Then for those that are better situated to pay monthly, make it .... I dunno...like $50 a month. :)

no, not blur. Gradient fill.
  icon
marcello (Jan 7, 2007)
what do you think that is?
  icon
Axil62 (Jan 7, 2007)
Looks like flat patches of overlapping colors blurred together at the edges.
  icon
Nightmare (Jan 7, 2007)
Looks like Marcello likes Vista.
  icon
marcello (Jan 7, 2007)
axil: that would be a good guess if lascaux didn't have such a shitty blur tool
  icon
Axil62 (Jan 7, 2007)
I was thinking more like this http://www.geocities.com/inky1_2000/grflfil.jpg
  icon
Nightmare (Jan 7, 2007)
I think Marcello is hinting to the fact Lascaux has a gradient fill, just a really shitty one.
  icon
marcello (Jan 7, 2007)
no no. you got it all wrong.
  icon
Axil62 (Jan 7, 2007)
I apologize profusely sir. I just checked it out. Thanks!
  icon

  icon

v0.751? where is it?
  icon
marcello (Jan 7, 2007)
should be up

Dr.Snoopy (Jan 7, 2007)
Nice new tool...now how about smooth selection? (with borders which fade over more than 1 pixel)

By the way, the circle selection is somehow buggy...it keeps some pixels selected as I scale the circle, even though they are outside of it.
  icon
marcello (Jan 7, 2007)
you can already do that. the selection is based on your current brush.

Dr.Snoopy (edited Jan 7, 2007)
Oh sorry...I mean that's great! :)

...but it's not perfect. When I apply color to my selection it fills the border region with more color than the center.
I guess you already know that.
  icon
marcello (Jan 7, 2007)
use opacity instead of flow then.
  icon
Kloxboy (Jan 7, 2007)
WOW! Oh man!! I mean, that rocks, gradients will change everything for me! I need linework!! Anyone got linework??
  icon
Sweetcell (Jan 7, 2007)
Ok first, I thought my comp screwed up after installing the latest Java when I saw the big thumbnails white empty space and same old showcase pictures, good to know it isn't my comp and you changed the main screen, have to say though I'm one of the rare ones that don't like it. I always liked seeing the title of a piece and the name of the artist for latest draws, as well as seeing the showcase rotation, get's boring seeing the same pictures, guesse I'll have to get used to it. Second, Marcello *smoochies* and big soft porn hugs for the gradient tool, I haven't used it yet but it was definately on my xmas wish.

The only thing I really wish you'd work on lascaux is the angle brush, I wish you can increase and decrease it's size like the other brushes, and change the angle by rotation. It's a great brush to use when your doing clouds. I'd give up the gradient fill if the angle brush can be sized and rotated.

Thank you for this site and your dedication to us crazies Cello.
  icon
marcello (Jan 7, 2007)
the brush could always be sized and rotated. just hold ctrl and/or alt while changing the brush size.
  icon
Sweetcell (edited Jan 7, 2007)
Really? I didn't know that. thanks for telling me Marcello.... now we just need a rotation.

Disregard the rotation comment, just figured it out. Now I'm all happy. X)
  icon
xiau (edited Jan 8, 2007)
I finally thought of something.
I want to be able to delete unfinished pictures that have already been out in the open for over two days.
  icon
Sweetcell (Jan 8, 2007)
I think that's now possible Xiau, I was able to delete a picture I hated that was in my studio for the longest time. This site just surpasses anything else out there.

Shanghai (Jan 8, 2007)
you can delete pictures from your studio no matter how long they've been there as long as it was never shown. If you submitted it as unfinished-hidden and kept it that way, then you can delete it. But as soon as it's upgraded to just plain unfinished then you can only delete it after a short period.
  icon
xiau (Jan 9, 2007)
Ahh, that's kind of what I meant by 'out in the open'. But um, yeah, I tend to set them to unfinished and then regret it later.
  icon
Axil62 (Jan 9, 2007)
anything can be deleted once you set it from unfinished to finished. Doesn't matter if it's unfinish or unfinished hidden.
  icon
marcello (Jan 9, 2007)
I would argue the site benefits by not being able to delete old stuff.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 9, 2007)
yeah, yeah who cares... I SEE STACI... somebody GRAB HER!!!!
  icon
Sai_Wo (Jan 9, 2007)
A way to crop your image without having to start over.

Unless that's already there, and I'm just too dumb to find it... >.>
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jan 9, 2007)
I hate being ignored more than anything. DID ANYBODY GRAB STACI or did she slip out the back door?

If we could delete old stuff, I'd have next to nothing left here. Sometimes, when somebody pulls up something old of mine.... I want to crawl under a rock and die.
  icon
davincipoppalag (Jan 9, 2007)
Well..you have a golden opportunity in the latest contest Cindy.. do one of em over, better

Even though I do not have as much time to draw now, I would be willing to pay a yearly or monthly fee.
I will be moving again sometime this spring, have no idea where to yet, after the move I understand that my husband may be going back to Iraq :( at that time you guys will be sick of seeing me here :)
  icon

I just noticed the change in the memo box.
I'm falling in love with 2Draw all over again.
  icon
Pseudonymous (Jan 10, 2007)
What do you guys think of having a video section of 2draw? Or maybe having the capability to post vids on the forums? Or something? To talk about art or...whatever?

Too youtubeish? You tell me.
  icon
marcello (Jan 14, 2007)
For those of you interested, I've upgraded the wiki to the latest version. I don't actually know what's new, but we have the old skin back, so it looks a little nicer.

Let me know if there are any problems.

Shanghai (Jan 14, 2007)
for some reason on some pages like this I was able to have three of the cloud images in a row across at my normal window size but now no matter how wide I make my browser window only two will display in a row and the third gets bumped down to the next line, as if it's been force constrained to a certain width. So I repositioned them to only be set at two in a row. Other than that it looks okay.
  icon
marcello (Jan 14, 2007)
yea, I added the width constraint on the old skin, but when I upgraded the server we lost the skin. now that it's back, the constraint is back. I think it makes it easier to read the text.

p.s. if you really wanted to get around that, you might be able to put the images in a table with 3 columns. I don't know if that's a good idea though.
  icon
lori (edited Mar 18, 2007)
I finally came up with what I want.... a delete ALL option for when you delete memos, ya know, the boxes to check then delete all checked or just delete 'em all.. I also want to be able to delete art whenever I want, not just in the first two days... I like to delete things
