This is for all of those who have been saying that there's been too much anime lately. ;PThe cross hacthing is really hard to do with a mouse. o__O Can someone tell me what using a tablet is like? I've heard so many different things about it ranging from they are the greatest things in the world to they're not any better than a mouse. Oh yeah. Ref. "Drawing the Living Figure" by Joseph Sheppard. |

A picture of Neil Gaiman's Dream from the Sandman series. I missed dinner while I was drawing this. I'll finish as soon as I get some food.
concannon (Apr 21, 2005)
I love Sandman. But I particularly love Dream (and, well, Death and Desire, but that's neither here nor there). I'm looking forward to seeing this finished.I'm done. I've finally finished! I've been at home over the summer and we have really sucky dial up so I had to wait to get back to school in order to finish this. In the mean time I've totally lost the original concept I was aiming toward so. . . ummm, yeah. This is close enough, I guess.
p3ndragon (Sep 9, 2005)
Sweet. I love the bone structure of the guy's face. And the smooth shading.

Neil Gaiman is love. And so is this fanart. Good job. |

This is Caddris (using the "dd"="th" sound from celtic origins I believe), my screen-name sake. And yes, I look nothing like he does. . . he is, in fact, a he as where I am a she. He's an elf. And before you start railing against the stereotypical Tolkeinian elf I would just like to say that I dislike those ever so depressing the-world-is-ending-but-we're-still-here-untill-we-all-die-out type elves too. Unlike his austere cousins, Caddris makes it a point to be as irreverent as possible. Besides which he's really quite vain. ^__^ I take a weird sort of pride in my characters' personality flaws.I'll finish later but right now I have to go dissect a cat in my anatomy lab. . . o.O Hair! And look, he has invisible glasses! e___e; I just need to clean up the lines, add glasses, decide if I like the mouth the way it is, think of an interesting bacground, do said interesting backgrund, and then I'll be done. Hopefully by then I will not have run out of space. -__-;
Cleaning lines. I'm still at a loss as far as backgrounds go.
It's finished now. The background's still weak but it was the best I could come up with. ^___^; Oh, well. The text is actually Caddris' profile. I find that writing out everything I can on a character helps me get a stronger sense of his personality and who he is. My characters be come very much real to me. Really, there isn't much that separates a real person from a fictional one. After all, if I can be like Decarte and doubt the existance of everyone but myself then there really is nothing that separates reality from fiction.
Ooooh, I'm being pseudo-philisophical. e_e;

XDAnywho. Geez. Sexy elf. XD He's so cool. Those glasses=spiff. Seriously. He's awesome. And the hair looks like hair. >>;; I can't draw hair. |

I'm pretty sure we're thinking of two different Yoricks. ^___^ Your's is a very secksay pink and grey robot and mine is a smelly, moldering, human skull.
Anna (Sep 13, 2005)

He's my favorite character of all time. He freakin' rocks my socks! XD Anyway, I just started watching FMA on Cartoon Network a few weeks ago and yes, I know. Don't bring it up. . . for my sake and for those who wish to see the who series without spoilers.o_O Almost done. I did a lot last night but my college's network went down right as I was about to save the image. >__<; I was not a happy camper. By the way, I hate shading . . . with a passion.
HA! I finished! . . . it took me long enough. When did I start this one? May? April? I don't remember. Anyway, it's done.

Dream again. From the Sandman series. Dream is the weaver of all. . . well, dreams. Every artist who illustrated Sandman had a different style but a lot of things about the characters stayed the same. Dream, for instance, is always tall, lanky, and pale as Death (Death being his older sister). Dream and his siblings are are intellectual property of Neil Gaiman. I'd be the happiest author on earth if I could claim that they were mine. . .
Kenshin (Apr 30, 2005)
Neato XDD I love that stuff in his hand. I luff the cape, too :o
Moosh (Apr 30, 2005)
I love the face. Very nice drawing. :o)
Urei-sama (May 1, 2005)
ooo this is cool, i passed it and had to scroll back up for a second look
concannon (May 1, 2005)
Aaah Morpheus. <3 <3 Do Desire or Death next? :D Great job with your shadows.Kenshin: That "stuff" in his hand is sand. ...hence the name "the Sandman", y'know? |

Yes, more Sandman. I'll stop soon, I swear.This is Death, Dream's older sister. Despite her miffed look at being placed in a pretty pink tu-tu here, she is really quite cheerful. In fact, she's probably the most light hearted of the Endless. . . I take that back. Delirium would be hard to beat in that respect. Anyway, character from Sandman (c) Neil Gaiman, not me, blah blah blah. |

See, this is what happens when I don't want to do my work. There's something a bit off about it and I can't quite tell what it is. . .Ah. I see what it is. The palm of the hand comes out a little too far. |

I'm having a lot of trouble with the second person. Right now she (or at least she will be a she) looks like nothing more than a bunch of misshapen wire hangers. Anybody have any pointers? ^__^;;;;Hmmmm. . . I think this would be a heck of a lot easier if I had a tablet. There wouldn't se so many stray lines.
I'm a bit concerned with the proprtions of the woman. I have a sinking feeling that she's considerably smaller that the man. . . I can't quite tell. Does it look off to anyone? Oh, and they will have clothes eventually. I suck at clothes so that will probably be the last thing I do.
Destervetha (Apr 28, 2005)
What? Clothes? BLASPHEMY!! Wait...you're doing this WITHOUT a tablet? WHAT? That is...unbelievable. That's totally amazing. Yes, the woman is smaller than the man, about child-size compared to him. I don't see a problem with that, however. I need to finish this one soon.
I'm sorry to do this guys, but I've had this in my inventory for ages. I hit a road block and just can't get myself around it. School has kept me off and has drained all of my creative energies. I'm hoping that starting with some room in my inventory will help me get back into the swing of things. >___<

A bit of irony. I have to stop here because there's a thunderstorm and I'm shutting down my computer. I'll finish once the storm has passed.I'm referencing a picture I drew earlier today which was loosely referenced from How to Draw the Human Figure by Louise Gordon. (The blobs of color are my palette.) That took a long time. I guess I work slower than most but that doesn't matter to me.
Hope you enjoy. ^___^

I love the floating blue energy stuf *eats it* ^__^ yum!
