this would be a mess I made while listening to Claire de lune by Claude Debussy
that song is hard to play, it has something like 7 flats in it

Glass! I like the colors, looks like light is coming through from behind.

thanks, I'm glad you like

This gives the impression of being frozen under a sheet of ice looking up at the distorted figures and lights of a group of people looking down at you under the ice. I also see a puppy head . I really like the kind of drawing where I can imagine so many things
STARZSHINE (Feb 6, 2008)
I really like the effect you did here can you help me out a bit on how you acheived this? I am new and I would like to learn how to use the applets so I can give them a try. any help would greatly be appreciated! :D

I sketched this goofy skull/zombie today and I figured I'd color it on 2draw. Unfortunately, it didn't transfer as smooth as I'd hoped it would (via scanning and making it a font key). Here is the original sketch: skully

The whole transferring through fonts technique just isn't worth it unless the artwork is smooth. Oh well.

I'm calling this a "painting cure" piece, as related to "the talking cure" or " talking treatment" used in Freudian psychology and psychoanalysis. "Painting cure" would be a subcategory of the general term "art cure". Similar ideas and methods already exist in art therapy but there are very few unique terms associated with the psychology of art. I think "painting cure" could be such a term.

Paint two and call me in the morning

so do you feel better now? I do. I like these ones when you use the reddish orange and the bone colors together, along with the angles you use. This one's cool with the sharp angles yet curves too

excellent shape and angle. You never cease to put out works that pleasing to the eye.

Very cool, silk screen look, was this done with layers, and masking? I am a newbie and would love some pointers on how this is done. :D thanks
patienceisoverrated (edited Feb 7, 2008)
thanks, I use layers, I don't find masking very useful unless you are using your brush with anti-alias turned off, it's always screwing up around edges. I use the round brush on full flow/opacity with the soft edge, the third one down to the left of the brush size selector thingy, and then use the same eraser to whittle down or define the shapes. This is a lot like using the pen tool, if you're familiar with shi-painter, but without the flow. Lascaux has a really useful 'preserve layer transparancy' thing that can be used a little like mask and will preserve the smooth edges, that's how I did the crane in the feather shape. I drew in the feather shape on a new layer in all one colour, then preserved transparancy, so I could draw the crane in without messing up the details on the edges of the feathers. The girl and background are on the bottom layer, the spine on the next, and then the feathers and crane on top.

This has a renaissance feeling about it, yet it has a whimsical note as well. This is one of your styles I really admire.

That rocks. i want to be able to blow bubbles inside bubbles.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Jan 24, 2008)
Very cool... a realistic bubble with a "painterly" man blowing it. Last month I started most of my mornings alone outside, watching the sun rise and blowing bubbles into the new light. I love bubbles! :)
davincipoppalag (Jan 24, 2008)
Great bubbles and you got the look of the movement of him blowing into them really well too
