Here's the low down.....this is my Grandson, although I'm not really old enough (ok, it's possible at 45 yrs old) to have grandkids yet and I don't really have access to him and here's why...I had a daughter when I was 17 yrs old but being so young myself, my best choice was adoption...and so the right parents were found, the papers were signed, and life went on.... In the year 2000, I discovered that my then 18 yr old daughter was beginning the process contacting me thru the adoption agency we used and on her 19th birthday, we were on the way home from picking her up at the Atlanta bus station...
gel_o (Mar 5, 2009)
Amazing picture elly and an amazing story. Thanks for sharing this with everyone and acknowledging God in the midst of all that has happened. Only He can provide such strength along with the artistic talent that He has so fully blessed you with. Keep them coming, please!
firecracker (Mar 5, 2009)
I'm glad to see other people sharing their stories here. I still have hopes that someday my daughter might be able to locate her son. He's probably married by now, and has kids of his own. Who knows....my daughter might be a "grandmother".......which would make me a "great grandmother".
Mocha_Bean (Mar 5, 2009)
That's amazing, elly. I like the high contrast!I was adopted when I was six years old. The adoption agency spent two years trying to find my parents while I was in foster care but had no luck. When I was younger, not knowing who my real mom was constantly bothered me. Nowadays, it's not something I think about but I still want to know. I'd like to find her and ask her all these questions that need answers. I'd hope she could answer them for me. On the other hand, I might be better off not digging around for her. I guess I won't know until I cross that bridge.

The new show on Animal Planet called 'Jockeys', is a unique look into the life of the jockey community. My interest is personal, as I knew the brother of two of the top jockeys in the horse racing world...Sam and Eddie Maple. This new show is very informative and discloses intimate details of the jockey's personal lives...their struggles and relationships. Julie Krone was the first woman jockey to win the Kentucky Derby and the only women to be inducted into the National Horse Racing Hall of Fame.

Thanks all...:)

Im a pro gambler and i bet on the horse racing most days of the week! hayley turners a great jockey but the majority of the rest are useless, especially rosie dobbin she couldnt ride out in a finish if her life depended on it.

I have a "tote bag" with this picture of Jim Morrison on it....so I thought I'd try to do a sketch of that picture. I hope it looks like him. :)

firecracker (Mar 4, 2009)
Hi "DaVinci", and "catfish", and "DMV", and "Gillie".....Thank you all very much for all of your nice comments.....I really do appreciate it. "Gillie".....yes....I really do like "The Doors".....they were one of my all time favorite rock groups. I'm glad you all like this picture. :)
Pantera (Mar 5, 2009)
Good job, looks just like him :)
firecracker (Mar 5, 2009)
Thanks "Pantera"......I really appreciate your nice comment,,,,,I'm glad you like the picture. I used a "tote" bag as my "ref" pic...."LOL"!! This image that I drew, is imprinted on a tote bag that my sister had bought for me. Thanks again for your comment. :) |

(Feb 28, 2009)
Well.....I tried my best to make this guy resemble Jim Morrison, of "The Doors". I did use a "ref" picture from an old record album. It's hard for me to get used to using the tools in lascaux. I went a little "crazy" using the "halftones"...."LOL"!! I hope I didn't make it too "glitzy"....but he is a "rock star".....and they sometimes get "glitzy".
firecracker (Mar 4, 2009)
Hi "Suntan",,,,Thank you very much for your nice comment....I appreciate it. I'm glad you like the "glitzy" version....I kinda like that one the best too. :) "MissDJ"....I clicked on the link you left here for your "pics" at youdraw. You really have a lot of nice draws there. I looked thru some of them....I'm gonna go back again and look at some more. You got a lot of nice comments on your draws. I don't remember seeing you there when I used to draw there in 2005. I went by the name of "doodlebug", and I have about 120 draws in my gallery there. I like some of them a lot.....but there's several draws that I don't really like at all....and if I could delete them, I would. "LOL"! I don't know how to "post" a link here to my gallery at youdraw.....but if you want to see them....just type "doodlebug" in the "pic search" box....you have to include the "quotation" marks. ..."LOL"!! "Flubbles".....I do remember seeing your draws at youdraw. I've never really seen your gallery....but I do remember seeing some of your draws....and of course....they were all very good draws. I also remember seeing you at sketchfu too. You have amazing talent. "DaVinci".....I clicked on the link you posted here.....and I looked at all of your draws at youdraw, and they are all very good. I especially liked the one of the lighthouse, and also the sailing ship, and I liked that "sandpiper" bird. I see you drew most of your pictures in 2004.....I didn't discover youdraw until 2005. You really have a lot af talent "DaVinci".....I'm wondering why you don't post more draws at 2Draw. The ones that I have seen you do, are really very good. You should do more. :)
Miss_DJ (Mar 5, 2009)
Here is your link, Judy. http://www.youdraw.com/cgi-bin/recent.pl?artist=%22doodlebug%22&rows=10&x=38&y=10 To put any link here from any webpage: Go to the page you want people to see. Thanks for your nice comments about mine! --Donna
firecracker (Mar 5, 2009)
Hi Donna......Thanks for posting my link here......I didn't know how to do that. I'm glad you like my "pics". I was just learning to draw back then.....I never drew anything online before.....then I discovered youdraw.com.....and I started "doodling" there....that's how I came up with the name "doodlebug"...."LOL"! Thanks again for posting my link. I still want to go back to your gallery....and look at more of your draws. You really have some good draws there. "Judy"
