Well.....I tried my best to make this guy resemble Jim Morrison, of "The Doors". I did use a "ref" picture from an old record album. It's hard for me to get used to using the tools in lascaux. I went a little "crazy" using the "halftones"...."LOL"!! I hope I didn't make it too "glitzy"....but he is a "rock star".....and they sometimes get "glitzy".

catfish (Mar 3, 2009)
This is cool, I like the glitzy. good draw, you get an "A"
Cameo (Mar 3, 2009)
Looks a lot like him! You did a good job! I really like this! ;o)
DMV (Mar 3, 2009)
Awesome firecracker, he kinda looks see thru.
gloworm043 (Mar 3, 2009)
Cool pic...Luv the colors and sparkle...:)
firecracker (edited Mar 3, 2009)
Hi "DaVinci", and "Catfish", and "Cameo", and "DMV", and "Gloworm".......Thank you all, for all of your nice comments....I really do appreciate it. Jim Morrison is one of my all time favorites.....he was a legend.....too bad that he got messed up with the drug scene. "DMV".....Yes, I can see where he looks "see thru".....I think that happened when I used the "sharpen" tool on his shirt.....but I guess since he is a "ghost".....it kinda looks cool that he has a sort of "transparent" look about him. If you look at "versions 4 & 5" of the animation pictures....he doesn't look as transparent. Then I started going crazy with the halftones and the sharpen tool, and the picture got really "glitzy" looking. But....I figure that since Jim is a legendary rock star.....he can be as "glitzy' as he wants to be....."LOL"! Thanks again for all of your comments.....I'm glad you like the picture. :)
tscott (Mar 3, 2009)
you did him!great job firecracker
knuckly (Mar 3, 2009)
I have a shirt with jim morrison's face on it. I now will not rest until I have one with his dog on it as well.
Pantera (Mar 3, 2009)
Good job on this :)
firecracker (Mar 3, 2009)
Thank you "Tscott", and "Knuckly", and "Pantera"....for all of your nice comments...I really do appreciate it. I'm glad you all think I did ok on this picture. I'm still not sure if I like the "glitzy" version, or the "unglitzy" version
of this picture the best. The "ref" picture that I used is not "glitzy" at all....I sorta went crazy.....and added all the "glitz" myself. The ref picture is from an old "Doors" record album that I have. "Knuckly".....maybe you can find a t-shirt with Jim and his dog on "E Bay". You can find just about anything on "E Bay". Anyways....Thanks again for all of your comments...I really do appreciate it. :)
Miss_DJ (Mar 3, 2009)
nice job Judy! I have to ask you a personal question, I hope you don't think it's rude of me to ask.....why do you use the quotation marks? I just noticed that that's almost like a signature of yours..lol... ;o)
firecracker (Mar 3, 2009)
Hi "Miss Dj".....Thank you very much for the nice comment.....I really appreciate it.....I'm glad you like the picture. About the "quotation marks"..."LOL"!! It's a habit that I can't seem to break. I've been doing this forever.....even offline....when I write letters or something. It's something that I learned in school....about using "proper punctuation" in English class. I have done this all my life......I can't help it.....I guess I don't even realize that I'm doing it...."LOL"!! You are not the first person to point this out to me.....I don't think it's rude of you to ask......I don't mind at all about being asked why I use quotation marks.... It's just a habit, and I don't think I can ever "break" this habit......because it's been with me ever since my school days......and believe me.....that is a long long time...."LOL"!! I guess it is like a "signature" of mine. I hope it's not annoying to anyone, because I can't stop doing it.....I'm a wee bit too old to break that habit now. "LOL"!! But I'm glad you asked me about it....because now that gives me the chance to explain why I do this. :)
Miss_DJ (Mar 4, 2009)
Thanks for the explanation. It's nice to know why, simply because you do use them quite often! There's someone I knew on www.youdraw.com who would always use stars around her words...not all of them but **most**l. I started thinking maybe you were her, but I don't think so, since you use these.." " not these * * Education is my major, English my minor, so I suppose that's why I notice these things.
firecracker (Mar 4, 2009)
I didn't know that you used to draw at "youdraw.com"........I used to draw there too.....back in 2005. No.....I never used stars around my words.....just quotation marks. Do you still draw at youdraw? I haven't drawn anything there in years..... I left there, and I discovered sketchfu.com.....and the drawing board there was much bigger than the little board at youdraw, and also I like the fact that you could draw in "color" at sketchfu.....and you can't do that at youdraw. I still have a "gallery" of my draws at "youdraw".....I sometimes go back there to look at my pictures there. Did you use "MissDj" for your name at "youdraw"??
davincipoppalag (edited Mar 4, 2009)
me too... long time ago
firecracker (Mar 4, 2009)
You too "DaVinci"? "Wow"! I wonder how many other people here used to draw at youdraw. That's where I first discovered "online" drawing. It was fun drawing there.....even though the "board" was so small. All the people who used to draw there were really nice folks. Do you have a "gallery" there "DaVinci"?
Suntan (Mar 4, 2009)
I like the glitzy and the ghostly appearance, firecracker. Good job.
Miss_DJ (edited Mar 4, 2009)
Here I am at www.youdraw.com...I have about 600 pics in my gallery there.

http://www.youdraw.com/cgi-bin/recent.pl?artist=Missdj&rows=10&x=21&y=11

That's where I first began to draw online...it was about 2005 if I remember right. What was your name there, Judy?
Flubbles (Mar 4, 2009)
Thats where i started aswell! I think youdraw is the first drawing site that pops up when you google it, so its probobly not such a coincidence.
davincipoppalag (Mar 4, 2009)
I only have a few pictures there.. maybe like 10? I never cared too much for it really...http://www.youdraw.com/cgi-bin/recent.pl?artist=davincipoppalag&rows=3&x=46&y=6

Hi "Suntan",,,,Thank you very much for your nice comment....I appreciate it. I'm glad you like the "glitzy" version....I kinda like that one the best too. :) "MissDJ"....I clicked on the link you left here for your "pics" at youdraw. You really have a lot of nice draws there. I looked thru some of them....I'm gonna go back again and look at some more. You got a lot of nice comments on your draws. I don't remember seeing you there when I used to draw there in 2005. I went by the name of "doodlebug", and I have about 120 draws in my
gallery there. I like some of them a lot.....but there's several draws that I don't really like at all....and if I could delete them, I would. "LOL"! I don't know how to "post" a link here to my gallery at youdraw.....but if you want to see them....just type "doodlebug" in the "pic search" box....you have to include the "quotation" marks. ..."LOL"!! "Flubbles".....I do remember seeing your draws at youdraw. I've never really seen your gallery....but I do remember seeing some of your draws....and of course....they were all very good draws. I also remember seeing you at sketchfu too. You have amazing talent. "DaVinci".....I clicked on the link you posted here.....and I looked at all of your draws at youdraw, and they are all very good. I especially liked the one of the lighthouse, and also the sailing ship, and I liked that "sandpiper" bird. I see you drew most of your pictures in 2004.....I didn't discover youdraw until 2005. You really have a lot af talent "DaVinci".....I'm wondering why you don't post more draws at 2Draw. The ones that I have seen you do, are really very good. You should do more. :)

Hi Donna......Thanks for posting my link here......I didn't know how to do that. I'm glad you like my "pics". I was just learning to draw back then.....I never drew anything online before.....then I discovered youdraw.com.....and I started "doodling" there....that's how I came up with the name "doodlebug"...."LOL"! Thanks again for posting my link. I still want to go back to your gallery....and look at more of your draws. You really have some good draws there. "Judy"

www.youdraw.com is the place I realized that I just might be able to draw, too!
