Felistorm (Nov 11, 2005)
I didn't like the grass as much on this one but I tried something with the sky that I use in my oil paintings and liked how it came out. The bird and tree are something I made up...(obviously) Was also playing w/ perspective..I know the tree could have been further back... and with some other stuff. I still think this one needs something. I think it is because of where I put everything.

I think the grass looks amazing ! ^^; If you ask me I tihnk it looks fine. Maybe a bit of something in the back, 'cause it just looks like empty space. o-o; But otherwise its awesome. ^^;;; -ignore me if I spoke stupid, I'm tired.-
Felistorm (Nov 12, 2005)
LOL. Nah you're fine. :) I agree. Needs something. A fence maybe?
KaykuyoAkabane (Nov 24, 2005)

Kind of an overcast day sort of thing. I was playing around w/ the grass and liked it alot. (layering the shades.) Kind of goes with a story I had tried to write once about a house in the middle of nowhere. :P No roads or anything to it.

I think the sky should fading and getting a bit darker because it looks much too plain and unrealistic compared to the land. The picture is nice though, sets a good mood.
davincipoppalag (Nov 11, 2005)
The sky has that greenish look like just before a tornado. I agree it needs more variation in it, but overall I like this dark scene.
Felistorm (Nov 12, 2005)
I've actually seen it do this. Usually it means there is hail too. Something about the atmosphere. We were supposed to have some severe weather this weekend but didn't get much of anything but a little rain. :P It has been wierd here. Using the A/C in November...just wrong. LOL

I know not an origional name. LOL I still have alot to do to this one. Hopefully it will let me. I had extra space to do up the mountain and had gone in and done alot to it and went to save and lost everything. I have to go finish that one sometime soon. I could've cried. :P I was having alot of fun with this one but have to go to bed and get kids up in the morning.

I thought it needed somewhat of a background. I am kinda happy with the clouds came out. I live in Oklahoma and have seen some really cool cloud formations. I've got a pic somewhere of some that resemble the underneath of an egg carton. They are supposed to develop when the weather is really turbulant and tornadoes are present. Don't remember what they are called. Not sure I am thrilled w/ the lightening but was my first clouds/thunderstorms to draw so.... ;) And yeah i am seeing that the dragons wings might have been more refined. < my own worst critic sometimes.
mybettastorm (Nov 11, 2005)
I like this, the coloring isnt so great, but i defenatly cant color that GOOD! :)
PS Please do not get mad, a lot of people get mad at me for posting coments.
Felistorm (Nov 11, 2005)
Not a problem. I agree w/ the coloring on this. I am all happy with them until I've got it saved and then I can see a million things I'd like to fix. The coloring could have been alot sharper. I do so much better with pencil. I love to work with details and on here I really have to work at it which I am trying to think of as good practice. ;)

Inspired by a landscape painting by an artist that goes by the name Godfrey. Believe me, his is a lot more elegant. Right now I'm going to take a break.

I'm hesitant to place this on Advanced. . . . all the good artists intimidate me. Please tell me what you think.

short compared to what?
Caddris (Nov 11, 2005)
Short in a geological/paleontological standpoint. Seeing as to a paleontologist 500,000 years ago wasn't far away at all 60-80 years is absolutely nothing. You have to go back a good 65 million years to get to the last dinosuars. Human life only seems long while you live it.

well I think my life span is long, when i compare it to a flies' life span. So Im good.

Just a doodle right now. :) Maybe I'll colour later.

No, I'm not implying that salmon is a Bohemian snackfood. XD I just like random names sometimes.

CRITIQUE. I CAN'T DRAW REALISM. The forehead looks like it needs help. D;

You shouldnt be critasizing so much, simplt tell the person what they need to work on. I dont think that is so hard, Im trying to do that more often myself! :) XP
Minty_hippo (edited Nov 12, 2005)
I disagree with you, this is not up to the standard of intermidiate level, and besides the more critacism (sp?) the more that person can improve on. Critasism (sp?) is nothing to get affended of and nor is it personal. Hideyourface may not have included why he thinks its beginner, but you should know by looking at this anyone can draw that, theres no colour just a plain background and no heart gone into this drawing. Just because its over 30mins and supposidly has effort doesn't mean its intermidiate, anyone can do that, if thats the case then everybody would be drawing on intermidiate. I suggest you work on your pictures more and stick to the beginners board for doodles like this, otherwise carry on what you do best ^___^ like to see more pictures from you and see your full potential!!
By this I mean, go for something you've never thought of drawing before, something that will blow everyones mind and think ' WOAAAAA THIS KICKS BUTT!!! '
Sorry if I seemed that I was getting at you but I couldn't resist >___<
marcello (Nov 12, 2005)
*criticism (It's spelled like critic)
*offended
*it's (its is possessive)
*supposedly
*intermediate (it's freaking written on this page)

You asked for critique, however, so I am not surprised people gave such comments. You can't draw realism, but that's does not seem to apply here since you did not even attempt to do so. I would say, yes, this is beginner level. While the lines are fairly clean, they still lack thought and seem rather arbitrary. Random text does not a make a picture better or more abstract, and in this case, I would say it detracts from the overall piece. I imagine you added it because you felt the picture was missing something, it still is.

This is all very fine and well for a quick sketch, but it's hard to imagine it took you 30 minutes.
George_Goat (Feb 12, 2006)
*le-gasp* Here's an actual tip on realism. =O
The eyes are generally a bit further back on the head, that's probably why the forehead looks 'funny' to you. ^^;;
Though I think this picture really looks cool in a designy sort of way, it does kind of look like she has just one eye in the middle of her forehead.
The shape of the head/chin bugs me just a little, too, but it's not too far off, there, and I'm sure not all people have perfectly round heads anyways.

I hope I helped!
