It *does* look like the girl from "Grave of the Fireflies"! Only this girl is older than the little tyke got to be...*sniff*. I like her indifferent smirkish look, though. I can (and like to; the movie's sad) imagine the girl having a look like that when looking back on all that angst..."I've made it, so there". That sort of thing.

As fed up as I am with snow this winter, I like this piece. It reminds me of one that hung above my mantle when I was little--like this, only with a line of horses bowing down into the cold. So for me it's beautiful _and_ nostalgic.

I had a drem where I was learning how to drive, and I ran over all the pylons in the test, and the instructors head exploded.
o__O Not my fault. Blame the pylons of neon orange that I crushed!
This. Is nice.
Summer annoyed me in my small room, but since it has been extended (By removing another room) it is too cold in it now.
So summer will let me sleep good this year.
He looks so drowsy and whatnot. The expression matches the entire mood and theme of the pic. And the drink is a nice touch.
Almost every guy in my town goes shirtless in summer. ?_? It's annoying. I like to wear SWEATERS OF WOOL, in the summer. And I don't mind.
This picture is really nice though... The shading is nice, and the hair is nice, and the expression is nice, and the subject is nice, and the theme is nice, and I give it a nice big score of NICENESS!
You should draw more of these. :P

If you were shown the meaning of life, would you understand it? Or would it's all encompasing enlightenment be far to grand a perspective to comprehend?

Perhaps the meaning of life is in fact bold and plain to see as the rising sun, and even as we view it, it's meaning escapes us for our lack of perspective.

Our goal should then not be to discover the meaning of life, but to understand that which we have seen...

Oh, yeah, I took what KO and Kazukie commented on on that little sprite portrait, and considered redoing the thingies in this pic.
So, now, Kaien's head is more centered and his eyes aren't so... Crooked, I suppose...

The crab was my idea. I saw a commercial for Red Lobster, and thought, "What a great idea!"
After a few minutes, I thought "Ah, screw it, crabs are easier."
So the crab was partially inspired by Red Lobster. -_-
