The singers of the group Chana (my sister and I). Well, a group that's in the pipes as of right now. Chana is actually the lead singer, but I'm the REAL lead singer in the background.

...think Milli Vanilli people. :)

btw, there is a question mark in the middle because I can't think of a background at the moment. It'll come to me...eventually.

you sing and draw, too? ....eeeeeh (disturbing pleased noise). those are great expressions, and i like the fact that you preplanned your shadows with the pink lines.

as for a background... um, a stage? lights? red curtains? screaming people?
marcello (Aug 28, 2003)
collab with someone for a background :) I have some time this weekend to collab if you're willing.
Minitsaru (Aug 29, 2003)
oooh! what kinda music u do? oh yea and the sketch looks great cant wait til ya finish =P
Doodlibop (Aug 29, 2003)
Marienkind: I sing. And I draw. yuppers. I also like to dance. And nice long walks on beaches. :P
Minitsaru: I prefer mostly gospel music (to sing that is) and sometimes, just a wee bit...rock. Yes. I kinda do like rock. Thanks to my Dad. *groans* Anyhoo, I don't necessarily 'do' music, like in a band or anything. This is kind of a fictional band---but real. Eh, kinda have to think this through with my sisters and my sister's friends' band. ^^;;
Marcello: You can do the background if you want. Cuz, you know, you rock and everything. :D

Okay, I have the shading in and the primary outline set. Too bad the comp I'm on the colours aren't exactly top quality. *sighs* Ah well. Marcello, you can start working onthe background at any time you wish.
Snoozy27 (Aug 29, 2003)
Looks great so far! Your linework is fantastic. :D
marcello (Aug 29, 2003)
you'll have to give me revise access to the entry (click modify users)
Doodlibop (Aug 29, 2003)
Okay...I think you have access now (if I'm not mistaken). Show us j00r mad skillZ!
mazi (Aug 29, 2003)
wow thats awesome O_o;; the one on the right is adorable lol
marcello (Aug 29, 2003)
Ok I messed with a background at school (mouse), but didn't submit for now. I forgot it was paintbbs, hehe, so I'll have to do some tricks to get around the layer limit.... do you want me to do the background before or after you finish coloring?
Doodlibop (Aug 29, 2003)
Go ahead with the background.

the background is no where near done, but I'm at school, done, and want to leave. I spent most of the time working on splitting fg/bg onto two separate layers, I have a couple ideas for the bg, but not sure if they'll look good. Hopefully I'll have better luck with my tablet. ;-)
Doodlibop (Aug 29, 2003)
Ooh, don't worry Marcello! I'm sure it's going to come out super cool and every thang. You just keep at it, ya dig? Say, you mentioned something about splitting the forground from the background. How?
Fortunately for you, you have a tablet. Curse these mouses! *thrusts mouse in air and catches it in mouth*
marcello (edited Aug 30, 2003)
I split it by using layerUnify, moving everything which was on the BG layer to the FG layer. Filled the bg with a dark color, then set the mask to white, reverse, then used the eraser/white tool to erase all the unnecessary white. You can see it on the animation.....
or not........I think the animation borked up, because it only shows the steps I did, and nothing you did.... revise is screwed up, too.
*trods off to go find out what's wrong*
... not having much luck here, I think the animation was lost on the second version for some reason...
marcello (Aug 29, 2003)

Ok the problem (as was the layer issue) was caused by the animation on version 2 somehow being lost, not sent, or screwed up somehow. That way on version 3 it loaded from the PNG (no layers), and then submitted an animation file starting over from scratch, but not including any of the previous two versions, and thus making no sense.

I modified how paintbbs works, so now it won't send the animation when revising if it didn't have one to start from, so now since there are no layers, I cleared the background to a solid color, and finished cleaning up the little pixel issues around the edge of the linework..... looks like I'll have to do the background in one go, which I don't have enough time for tonight. :-(
Doodlibop (Aug 30, 2003)
Um...Okay. That's allright, I guess. Any time you can get at it and fix it is fine with me. Just make it soon-ish. :)
And can you please not use the F- word? >_0; I would really appreciate it.
marcello (edited Aug 30, 2003)
slip-of-tongue btw I'm working on it atm...the background is pretty spiff so far (imo)

wooo, that took a while. for the fg coloring, I highly suggest using the Remask tool with the two colors you've got there, that way you don't need to worry about spilling into the bg (since layers aren't being saved).
Hakkai (Aug 31, 2003)
Ooh.. Really fantastic looking so far! Can't wait to see the finished product. n__n;
Doodlibop (edited Sep 2, 2003)

I coloured it some more. Now to finish colouring it and add minor details. This, imho, is coming out really nicely. ^^;

hmm...

Should I make the forground a bit darker so it doesn't contrast so heavily against the back, or leave it alone?

marcello (Sep 2, 2003)
Nice coloring so far.
Up to you on brightness, I suppose, whichever looks best. You can always use dodge/burn or something to get a general idea and see if it looks better. I'm wondering now, looking at it from this crappy monitor if I should lighten the background at all. But I hate paintbbs so I probably won't work on it anymore. :-) (in lascaux, just add another layer with a nice blending mode, and you can brighten/darken/etc. all at once)
Maybe some blues should be added into the skin tones to blend it better.
Snoozy27 (Sep 4, 2003)
Looking good so far. Can't wait to see the finished version!
marcello (Sep 5, 2003)
me neither. :-)
Doodlibop (Sep 11, 2003)
oy...I think that's it. I'm gonna mess it up and I don't want to do that. I've always been afraid of shading.
<<ultimate loser
