Hey, so here's the question.

I was looking at cafepress (a company that manufactures and ships merchandise with designs, and basically handles the grunt work), and I was wondering, since this is an art oriented site, if people would be interested in any kind of merchandise where all profit would go towards maintaining and bettering the site.

A list of all the products they have can be found here: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/products/viewall.aspx

The base prices can be found here: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/help/pricing.aspx

Basically, those prices would be marked up some X dollars, and that X would be profit towards 2draw.

So there are a couple questions:
1) Would you buy anything?
2) Which types of items would you most prefer?
3) What kinds of designs would you like to see?

Of course there could be some of the new super cool 2draw v2 designs (funky designer logo thingies), but then some people suggested oekaki's themselves. Now there are several problems associated with that, such as paying artists, and handling the low resolution of oekaki's.

But if people are interested in having their work put in the store, we could go for the premium store thing (costs $7/m, or $60/yr), and that doesn't have the restriction of only one image design per product.

So, post your answers/ideas!

Well, the base price for the white t-shirt is $13.99, so $15 would be 1 dollar profit per shirt.
As for v2, no paintchat.

What I suggest is that you offer the shirts for 17 bucks. That gives you a bit of profit without being exorbitant. People who want their own art featured on a shirt could email you a scanned image perhaps. The obvious progression of this is contests for new designs. I can imagine Quintessence's doom-creature designs winning the contest easy.

I bet I'd buy T-shirts, and it'd be neat to put my art on stuffs. Though I doubt anyone would buy it except me. ~_~ But sure, I'd buy things. Clothing things. I can never have enough odd clothing. ^^

-edit- Hehe, really? I dunno, I was thinking of making me own shop to sell those. But whatever.

A few text ideas that could be used for shirts:
"Like 2draw?"
"2draw or not 2draw"
"live 2draw"
"art is RGB"
"my wacom rox0rz your oekaki"
"wtf is oekaki?"

I'm all for the idea. But I've heard bad things about Cafepress; A lot of my favorite web artists and web comic-makers have been cancelling their Cafepress accounts because Cafepress is taking even more of the money out of the deals, or something...

I'd love to buy stuffs, but I heard the same about Cafepress.... Aido, and Kyoht, and such people have canceled their accounts, though I haven't gotten a straight answer as to why.

And for designs, I'd love to stick a pair of wings on the back of a shirt, or something. I have a few text things in mind as well, but they're not related to 2draw. >_< But again, all for the idea. I think rydicanubis's new stylized pics would look great.

i know this is off topic but i do not want to post up a thing for these stupid questions... what does "wacom rox0rz your oekaki" mean and how exactly would you pronounce "oekaki"

oh-eh-ka-ki

Wacom is a tablet company, and it is easier to draw with a tablet rather then a mouse, so it rox0rz the oekaki like nobody's business.

Haha! It is a nice idea! Is the word wacom a trademark?

"Copyright? 2002 Wacom Technology Co. All rights reserved." Not trademarked per say i don't think, but the only reason i say that is because I've never seen "Wacom TM" anywhere.

I would buy a shirt.
I would like to suggest this as the image:
http://cellosoft.com/2draw/sketchstudio/lascaux-logo.jpg
Or maybe just the words "2draw.net v2.0" with a cool font.
And this as the shirt, with the image on the left breast area:

I messed around with the free trial premium account thing, which is kinda cool, since you can make multiple categories and multiple designs per product, but I'm not sure if $7/m (or $5/m if you pay for a year at a time) is worth it. It's probably only really worth it if some serious time and work is put into the designs and setup of the store.
As for categories, I was thinking a flying colors designs section (new default theme on 2draw2), some humor/text shirt section, lascaux sketch section, and then anything else anyone can suggest, such as oekaki's, or artist's donated sections.
But when it comes down to it, how many shirts can one buy? :-)
Plus I'd need to buy some stuff just to see how it looks...

Do you think if there was enough new designs every whatever, it could support the cost of the premium thing by itself?

"Lascaux is my dawg"

"Que Pasa"

"Live sex shows at 2draw v.2"

that would sell >:|\
anyway, i would love to try some logos, andif one actually made it, i would DEFINITELY buy my own logo on a shirt (i'm an arrogant bastard). anyway, you should only do this if 2drawV2 reels in a few more suckers (i mean artists). With the current list of active users here, i don't think it would be worth the money/effort. So... that's my opinion

*raises hand* Hey, I'll toss in my drawn art, if yah want it. You can go take a look at meh Elfwood gallery, via my profile...and I know there are other great artists here that draw even better by hand than they do by oekaki. *nod*

I would by a 2Draw coffee mug....hehe...only because i can never get enough coffee mugs...it would rock if the text on it said "wtf is oekaki?" hehehe...

oohh...nice idea...but isn't there another company than cafepress? i'm not jumping that high for a white or a grey t-shirt and defenetly not for a white or grey pull-over...darker colours would be more successfull i think...

No idea, I personally think white/grey is lame. But the lunch box and stainless steel mugs are cool. Shiny. Plus some of the full bleed things (mouse pads, stickers, blah).
