whatamess

I was thinking while I was painting this about how I keep my oil paints in a big tackle box and I would always squeeze the tube wrong and the seam in the back would break or the tube would get a hole in it and while I was painting I'd get all engrossed in what I was doing, squeeze the tube to replace a color I had run out of, and paint would squirt out from 3 different directions and then I figured, why bother putting the lid back on, and throw it in the box and then the tubes would stick together and dry up. I wonder if anybody else is that sloppy.

I should have just left this without submitting it, it takes forever to submit and I didn't get anything done.

I'm that sloppy for sure. But this is great as usual. :}

thanks. :)

I think most artists are sloppy with their stuff. Somehow neat rows of clean , organized equipment and supplies isn't a picture I can imagine near someone who is passionate about painting. I like this one as much as the spilled red paint one from a while back.

Ew, i can't stand messy paint trays.

Haha...reminds me of my honors art class I had in highschool. I had never used oil before, and all of us (4 students haha) had to use the same paints. They were kept in a plastic box much like a tackle box, and ALWAYS they ended up just like you were saying. I just about went nuts, because I was super Obsessive Compulsive back then. Anyway, I loved the little story you had with this, and the texture on this piece is exquisite. I really enjoy the depth of color as well. Almost forgot to mention the wood grain...that alone would be a great painting.

Well it doesn't change the fact the you are still a top class painter.
darkshadow (Apr 7, 2006)

I love this! I really like how the objects fade as they get farther back! and the red paint is phenomenal
Miss_DJ (Apr 7, 2006)
the textures of EVERYTHING in this are amazing...and I LOVE the wood. Incredible.

Gigandas (edited Apr 11, 2006)
Geez, that wood grain......craziness..... (I can feel the grain lumps at my fingertips just by looking at this)
Sweetcell (Apr 11, 2006)
Agreed about the wood, it looks like you could get a splinter. And that paint. Gooieness.
Moosh (Apr 12, 2006)
