Btw I love all the stages, especially the Santa one. Heehee.
miss dj - i skip between thinking i should clean up the 4ground and background but then i think it adds to the painting and the statuesque of the statue.
man i going to florence on thursday, i'm gonna see this bad boy, so excited :) also may i just say that i think 'michael'-angelo is closer to the pronunciation of his name than 'mik'elanglo.
Florence? So jealous. Make sure to check out the schools down there. I understand they still teach the old masters techniques. Did you know that when Micheay and Leonard did their wall pieces they sketched out the design on a huge piece of paper, poked small holes in them and used it as a stencil. They put ground chalk in a cloth and after placing the paper on the wall (some technique using gesso and paint, I'm not sure of the exact setup) they pounded the cloth full of chalk on the paper which gave them the guidelines to paint. Now-a-days people can get a projector but these techniques still work. Just some random facts.
Enjoy Florence you lucky you. Takes shit loads of pictures.
in the national gallery in london, there is a leonardo cartoon (full size sketch) and next to it the completed picture. it was probably my favourite thing there. Michelangelo was v secretive about his work.
i guess i'll try and post my pics on the net, but i won't be taking ones you can't already get hold of somehow.
any requests on other master works (anything other than the ghent alterpiece - thats too cool for school) ;)
Very good job. :]
heh. anyways, great perspective.
