Ok, I am finally finished. The reason I drew the Grim Reaper is because it symbolizes death. I find that the scariest dreams are the ones where someone dies.

Ha ha, This is great so far! Maybe you should move this guy a little over to the right and draw an other guy running away. That could be a possibilty. ^__^

Put a cigarette in his mouth and a beer in his hand! lol
Nightmare (Sep 3, 2005)
...this is supposed to be of intermediate level for the contest, right? :|
~~PuFFeR~~ (edited Sep 3, 2005)
Hey thats not very nice "NIGHTMARE" ! Did your take into consideration how long I spent on this before you decided to be rude? ...I worked hard...:(
Nightmare (Sep 3, 2005)
...

Welcome to the internet. We are not supposed to sugarcoat crap for you. Time is no excuse for the quality of this picture, have you given more thought into it. The amount of work you put into it is lacking, for all I know you just made a sloppy picture of 'death' (which in itself is a generalisation of a natural nightmare, human and animal alike) and let it sit there for a hour before you submitted it. This is not of intermediate quality, and the description does not live up to the contest rules and guidelines.

Also, proper grammar is appreciated, and a certain level of maturity I might add.

Nightmare, I didn't realize that you became so intelligent. I would thank you for your lovely critique of this work, but I think you're totally off the mark. If you were really so talented and intelligent, I wouldn't think that a cute drawing would threaten you so much. This contest is not about being a deep, dark person who pretends to be mysterious and thoughtful. "Draw a scary picture (nightmare)." Is that so hard?

I would appreciate it if you let people have fun with these contests instead of trying to make people feel bad about their submissions.
Nightmare (edited Sep 4, 2005)
Alright then. Still, I would at least like to see your rules and guidelines followed, rather than be ignored.
davincipoppalag (Sep 4, 2005)
I gotta disagree with ya nm.. I think this is intermediate...it's not beginner. Plus I think Libby drew a legitemate nightmare..many have nightmares about death.. (Plus shes very cute.. ) lol
Nightmare (Sep 4, 2005)
You are entitled to your opinion, as I am mine.

I just make myself look more of a asshole when I do it. :DDDD
hideyourface (edited Sep 4, 2005)
I agree, it looks beginner. his forearm looks broken and too long, his right arm is coming out infront of his body, not behind, the waves in the clothing make it look like crumpled paper, and the skull doesn't really look like a skull. Also theres no shading. And I gotta agree, it seems just like a simple cliche picture of death that someone probably wouldn't have a nightmare about. Oh yeah.. SHADE.

Im not trying to just say bad things, Im just critiquing. I guess to make this picture better would be to have drawn the outline of the body first, and then the cloak ontop, allowing it to fall naturally over the body and change it a bit if theres wind and movement. Using a picture of real skull would help with the details on his face. Also, making a more dynamic pose would make the picture more appealing. Oh yeah.. SHADE.

Nightmare-Um, since when was there a rule saying that because this is the internet and that you're pretty much anonymous, you have the right to be rude? It's like Dino said, it's a contest, you're supposed to have fun with it. The only judging taking place on a contest should be picking the winner. Not whether you're even eligible.

hideyourface-If you knew a thing or two about art, you'd know that not everything needs to be shaded to have more sense of quality.

I also just noticed, this is still even unfinished...! You really shouldn't be judging a piece before it's even done...

As for the picture, I think she did a nice job. It's actually pretty cute, but that might just be what a 'scary' theme contest needs. To have some irony :).

Well, it's a whole lot better then my contest picture, plus, I was dumb enough to submitt it after the contest ended. Not like it would have mattered, I would have lost anyways. u__u;
hideyourface (Sep 4, 2005)
Sorry, I just assumed they didn't know how to shade, not that they could possibly be trying to be artistic.
SanzoGirl (Sep 4, 2005)
Umm, sometimes un-shaded things are really pretty. :o

And don't mind Nightmare, he's just a kid, he'll learn.
SanzoGirl (Sep 12, 2005)
