vote this time, then.
spiritdweller (edited Nov 2, 2004)
I honestly don't have the patience to keep up with politics... yes, they are essential... I s'pose... but... Bush should keep his nose the hell out of other countries... ya just don't blow a place apart and then say... oh... do you need help cleaning up? ..... etc...

|XOD| |

quintessence (Nov 2, 2004)
I can't vote, so this is probably a little hypocritical, but I think if you're not going to vote, you shouldn't complain about the government. If you're going to condemn someone, then get up and go vote against him.
spiritdweller (Nov 2, 2004)
I don't like any of 'em
mazi (Nov 2, 2004)
well its more like.. would you rather have one or the other if you had to pick. like last canadian election i didnt really care who won, as long as it wasnt that damn pc bastard. so i went liberal just to give him the old kick in the shins. i still dont really know much about whichever liberal guy we have but i have no complaints, so he must be doing something right.
spiritdweller (edited Nov 2, 2004)
well... this is something I really don't like to discuss... but it is 'one man's opinion against the world'.... you can vote... but who makes the decisions in the end........... that is all now... Ha... peace not war... I'm a big hippie... it's all in God's hands.... we are born with choices.... you make yours... I've made mine.... if I wanted to go a step further... I could say.... "Thou shalt not kill".... but then.. I kill mosquitoes. I love you brothers and sisters... :) Amen.

VOTE NADER (i probably can't spell his name) |

Zack (edited Nov 2, 2004)
"You shall not murder." - Exodus 20:13. Very different thing from "You shall not kill," in my opinion.
Also, yay for vague and unsubstantiated blurbs about complex issues. If it can't be boiled down to a catch-phrase, it's not worth thinking about! |
Maiko (Nov 2, 2004)
I think i'll vote for Bush :D his name sounds cool XD
or actually, VOTE FOR KADAJ O_O |

Kerry is god. XD I'm half american (dual citizen) so does that mean that I can vote in the american elections? :P (next time around, that is... ) XD just a random question... and by the way... BUSH 5U><0|2Z, MAN! XD "the last time we listened to a bush it got us stuck in the desert for forty years..." woot! Imma be seriously pissed if he wins (and he will :P)

Zack (Nov 2, 2004)
"I hate Candidate X!"
"Why?" "Because he sucks!" "Why does he suck?" "Because he sucks!" "Ah. Thanks for clearing that up." Again, yay for catchphrases and derogatory pun-slogans. I have to agree with Kasha, though. One thing that amuses me greatly is how most of the people who use the "last time we listened to a bush" slogan don't even believe old testament stories in the first place. |
bumpinthenight (Nov 2, 2004)
oh get stuffed, zack. you suck anyway XD go hide in your little hole and masterbate. maybe it will make you nicer.

Looks like most people are voting for Bush after all. I wonder, mostly, what do they people that are NOT from America think about that?
me007 (Nov 2, 2004)
Its really really close tho.. Bush is ahead at the moment, but you never know if that will change.. states have been lost by a matter of a few hundred votes, that can make the difference between losing the election and winning. so yes, your puny little vote can mean crap after all. lol
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Nov 2, 2004)
I voted, and I voted for Bush. Lori, as for the "peace out", God commanded war... and the bible says there will always be wars and rumors of wars. Wishing for peace is futile. I think it's a shame when people don't exercise their right to vote, and as for the age limit, well, I know more teenagers that know more about what the hell is going on in politics than some of the idiot adults I know. I think there should be some sort of test you have to take to see if you have the brains to make an intelligent, informed choice, instead of an age limit.

"if it can't be boiled down to a catch-phrase, it's not worth thinking about" was sarcasm, Lori. I didn't think it was very subtle in that respect, but maybe it was.
"VOTE FOR KERRY" was scrawled in chalk all over campus yesterday. I'll tell you one thing. It certainly didn't make me want to vote for Kerry. It actually had quite the opposite effect. How come it's wrong to 'force' religion on people, but it's not wrong for politics? |

Offtopic post.... argh. I voted, hope you did too, and I didn't vote for Bush.
I think it's dangerous mixing capitalistic interest with military development. Why exactly do we need these billions or trillions of dollars spent in military development? If you look at it simply, war will create business and profit for them. I'm not saying this is some kind of "neo-conservative manifesto", it's simply the will of a corporation (a legal "person") to make a profit in a "free" market. Maybe bush is acting in their interest, maybe he's not. But they're getting something out of it no matter what his intentions are, and Bush isn't hindering them. Video has some truth in it, as well as the fact that there are so many many people out there crying out against the US and recent US actions. I'm not saying all this is true, but it's true that tons of people don't like what we're doing and we shouldn't just be saying "fuck off, we're right" to them. I actually have mixed feelings about the war because I thought it was something we actually could help with, but now I'm not sure that we will be improving living standards over there at all. What happens when we set up a democracy over in Iraq and they decide to vote for another oppressive dictator? We go in again and take him out at whatever cost? Our international relations suck and I don't think they're just going to go away. |
DinoFlorist (edited Nov 11, 2004)
THats the reason I voted for Kerry as well. Diplomatic relations. A new chance to bring in some new allies and support. Now that Bush has won, I'm not going to lament the loss. I am really hoping that it turns out he was the right man for the job all along. He was faced with some pretty difficult decisions after all. I don't think you can put all the blame on him.
Oh I just saw that 25mb movie and I have to say that its crap. Nice animations, but blowhard propoganda like that doesn't do anything for me. |
Dagan (Nov 13, 2004)
if it werent for the war i dont think as many people would have voted for kerry. i mean kerry was going to raise taxes for th upper class but that includes the small business owners(middle class) so that would actually create less jobs. i never liked john kerry. He always flip flops. on election night he sent out john edwards to say that they would stay in until all the votes are counted no matter what, but the next morning John kerry admitted defeat. He flip flopped to the end.
