So i was wondering that do you draw offline with some programs? like paint shop pro or something..
and i found this, i haven't tried it yet but it looks really promising: ArtRage |

I don't. I have Photoshop... but I can't be bothered to figure it out. Too complicated. I hate it, actually. I don't use it for anything else other than to edit/crop my photos. That's about it. I compare everything to Lascaux. (lol) And I don't like any of the programs I've tried. I guess I'm a hopeless addict?

:D i have the same thing.. psp and photoshop are too complicated to just draw with them, not to autoshade colours and adjust brightness and bla bla bla.
but that ArtRage looked cool.. sort of an offline Lascaux ;) wich reminds me, i'll go and test it :) |

I tried it when Marcello posted something about it not too long ago... It was okay. But I quickly got bored with it. :/

I used artrage, actually have a demo disk. You can't save on it. It's O.K. Alas, yes, I got bored with it , but it worked O.K. I use Photoshop cs, Love it, It works great , I taught myself the program and I know about ,oh.... 80% of how most of it works. I also have a program called deep paint, it acts alot like PSP, but also can paint 3D stuff, mapping all that crazy stuff, movies use the program alot for computer graphics. Now THERE is a program I'm still foolin' with, but I will get it eventually. I dig lascaux. It works great. I have no complaints with that program. Oh, almost forgot, Try corel painter, it is also a very good program. :}>

maybe you can try CANVAS ( http://www.deneba.com/download/default.html )or PAINTER ( http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Corel/Trial/Trial&t=1047022451842 ), there are demos over the net, both are really nice and PRESSURE SENSITIVE on mac too...and a company named Alias have SKETCHBOOK PRO ( http://www.alias.com/eng/products-services/sketchbook_pro/contests/expose_yourself_2.shtml ), this is more intuitive than the others two, at this very moment you can download a demo and participate in a drawing contest as well...i think there are many others but these are what i like most...(virtual painter is at http://www.vpainter.com/download.asp )...etc, etc...by the way, Artrage sucks (just my opinion)...good luck

Artrage isn't for gewd because of the lack of layers. Opencanvas is.. okay. I don't really like the tools they use to draw with though. I haven't tried painter yet. Adobe Photoshop? Omfg, I just conquered that with a mouse a few minutes ago. I can draw like it was shi-painter now. o__o

Ugh. How could you people be dissing Photoshop. I love it. I use php 7.0 for offline drawing, though i do more webpage work and practice coloring on it.
If you know how to use these applets, you shouldn't have any trouble using php. It's got the same tools, burn, dodge, pen, pencil, bucket, etc etc etc. |

Well, the reason I'd be "dissing" Photoshop if I said anything, would be because the version I have has a real problem with the opacity. You set it to the lowest opacity, and it still works the brush as if it were still at a higher level. And without opacity, I pretty much can't draw anything without it looking like a cartoon. But then again, I'm sure other people have a better version of Photoshop, so it's probably only affecting me.I also hear my professors saying they use Photoshop for some of their artwork too, so I'm sure it can't be all that bad...

I have a book on digital art instruction. They focus mainly on fantasy art, and alot of big name artists recently go straight digital now, and surprisingly enough, a lot use Photoshop.
