Is it just me or are there more and more drawings that aren't able to be viewed properly? It doesn't load.. just the dark gray box. All I can see are the thumbnails on the front page of 2Draw or the thumbnails on the Versions list. It seems like everyone else sees them just fine. For instance this one: http://cellosoft.com/2draw/view/28894/ It used to be rare that I saw that... Now several are like that daily for me.
If it *IS* just me... then what is the problem? I'm using Firefox (like you told me to a while back) and the lastest Java too. |

I dunno, I can view that linked picture just fine, although I come across one or two once in a while that I can't view(or rather won't load).

I don't know about that problem, but I keep reviewing my posts to see if I should update for reasons of unfinished drawings, and I have found that my post doesn't go with the picture. For some strange reason it is being listed with pictures from that artist that I haven't even seen. I actually see two maybe three thumbnails of this artists work and when I go to click on the picture I am familiar with, and nothing comes up. I was going to ask a moderator or better yet Marcello, but he never responds to me, and I just forgot about it and kept moving on.

skippy-If you remind me Thursday night, I can talk to Marcello on AIM for ya to get your question answered :)...

Anna (Sep 12, 2004)
boohoo.. :( did he give any specific reason, lori? as to what MAY be the cause?
|

spiritdweller (Sep 13, 2004)

Believe it or not, I actually read these threads, I didn't say anything because I don't know the answer (and I still don't)...
I really have no idea what might be causing the problem. I use mozilla and have never had any of the problems mentioned. In general, people don't have these problems, thus I would assume it's something special about your system setup. Which could mean some kind of firewall, ad blocking, popup blocking, adware, spyware, virus, virus scanner, odd http compression, screwy isp, or whatever... that is, some component that stands between you and the internet to "protect" you. Now, in Anna's case, since she is using Firefox, most likely adware/spyware/virus/etc. is not the cause, but just maybe if she has the adblock plugin, it is getting false positives. In that case, I suggest going into its configuration and telling it to allow/whitelist all images from 2draw (I don't know the exact process, as I don't use it). damnwhatever's problem seems completely unrelated. I have no fucking clue what the hell you mean by "For some strange reason it is being listed with pictures from that artist that I haven't even seen. I actually see two maybe three thumbnails of this artists work and when I go to click on the picture I am familiar with, and nothing comes up." Could you give me a screenshot or something, because I am totally not following your sentences there. |

Anna (edited Sep 13, 2004)
Thanks, Cello :) I'll look into this stuff and see what might be the problem. I did get a new firewall recently when my PC nuked a few weeks ago. So maybe that could be the cause.
Edit: Yay! I got it! It was indeed my firewall. I had to turn off my Ad Blocking. So if anyone uses Norton's firewall and are having the same problem as me... that is the fix. Thanks again, Cello. |

mazi (Sep 13, 2004)
yeah im having the same problem, anna. cant see that pic either.
|
||||
Anna (Sep 13, 2004)
What firewall do you have?
|
||||
marcello (Sep 13, 2004)
Fun... I wonder why it thinks 2draw images are ads... bleh.
|
||||
Anna (Sep 13, 2004)
I find it even more odd that it is only certain images. If it thought they were ads... why not ALL of the images, y'know... Sorry... I will stop now :D
|
||||
marcello (Sep 13, 2004)
well if it somehow thought the width/height was the right size for an ad? I dunno
|
||||
Anna (Sep 13, 2004)
Okay.. Because I'm the type of person that can't take an answer without knowing why/the cause/reason... I went back to look at them. I turned on my Ad Blocking and went through the drawings to find the common factor in the ones I couldn't view. It came down to the size, just like you said. They are all either of these two: 300 x 250 or 250 x 250 Just food for thought. :)

ummm im not really sure what my computer relies on. i think theres a hardware firewall built into my router but this computer has "norton internet security"? hm.
|
||||
Anna (Sep 13, 2004)
hmm yeah.. it probably is norton.
|
||||
method3 (Sep 14, 2004)
If you have a hardware firewall built into your router, chances are it doesn't have any special ad-blocking capabilities, but I can't say for sure. I just haven't seen any that have this feature. So chances are mazi that it is something else, probably specific to your computer rather than an external router (unless maybe you are using a proxy?).

mazi (edited Sep 15, 2004)
oh. it is norton. if you disable it, you can see the pics. hmm. i wonder how to fix that without having to do that.
edit: i win! ok Anna, this seems to have fixed it. right click on norton internet security in the taskbar and go to "norton internet security". its in bold for me. then a norton window will pop up and say "system status: OK.." with such and such a thing disabled/enabled. go to ad blocking and disable it. seems to have fixed it for me :) |
||||
Anna (Sep 15, 2004)
:/ Yeah I told Marcello that it doesn't give an option to just allow 'ads' on 2Draw. It's either turn Ad Blocking off or on. That's it. Boo Norton.

yeah... use avg... its free, and it doesnt eff up yer internet experience... or do random virus checks while yer in the middle of playing age of mythology (as it has done for me on numerous occasions...)

I use Netscape and never had this problem until two days ago when I finally got around to installing SP2 for XP. I couldn't see about a third of the drawings including my own. I didn't seem to have any problems viewing .jpgs on other sites, so I took a look at 2draw in IE and was able to see all the pics again. I reopened Netscape and have been able to see everything since. Kind of strange.

I am having the same problem, it comes and goes lol, some days I can not view certain drawings other days I can, so I have no idea what to do. I think its like Anna says, "It's either turn Ad Blocking off or on." , not long ago I asked Marcello to check on a drawing I had done and could not see it, he said he could see it fine, a few hours after that I looged in again, and there it was. The drawing I called Cansada, is the latest that I can not see :(
