although many people have a bias against art that isn't realism on the advanced board, and anime in particular, i think this is close enough to advanced quality, especially if you drew this without a particular reference.

this has nice style and depth to it. i really like the cigarette smoke, tie, and shoe. i know you said he's on the 'orange couch in the sky,' but that white background bothers me. it seems like this picture could have so much more depth if you put a dark background up there instead, like of the part of the ship where the couch would be.

I think its just harder to judge work thats not realism - it's easy to tell if something looks real - harder to think about what makes other art work "good" - composition and what not - anyway I like this

zack: no references, except for the boot sole (my own boot sole). i draw spike so often i'm familiar with his "look". As for the background, i did originally attempt a dark inner ship one, but it was taking a long time, so i went the easy lazy route. i'll probably redo the background soon though. I don't like the white one either.

Nice perspectie on this. Cowboy-B-Bop is al'-right! That swirl on the cigerette is draw-in me in. Cool picture.
