strangeoid (Jul 29, 2008)
When I saw this, my immediate reaction was "Ohwow." All one word. The texture on the wall is especially nifty.
patienceisoverrated (Jul 29, 2008)
i have a thing for light too, you draw it best
Miss_DJ (Jul 29, 2008)
sigh...really nice.
Flubbles (Jul 29, 2008)
i love light too! the other day the curtains in my living room were draw to the middle with about a foot gap open and there was a shaft of light that split the room in 2. I took a picture.
marcello (Jul 29, 2008)
did anyone notice the face in the thumbnail? D:
DorsY69 (Jul 29, 2008)
As i saw this thumbnail, i knew it was yours, the perfect style! This is really awesom, and i do agree with everyone about the light, it is great!
Aakyra (Jul 29, 2008)
Woderful contrasts.. a great study of light and shadow
Cameo (Jul 30, 2008)
Great work, Dan! ;o)
Luka (edited Jul 30, 2008)
Beautiful! I like how the shadows are cast everywere especially on the left wall.
I wonder who sleeps there..
Btw, is that a sock under the sofa?
Deino (Jul 30, 2008)
Maybe you are ligthofilic. It's ok thougt. Textures turn me on.
Anyway, capturing light and it's atmosphere it's surely your thing Axil. Great work :D
xwindflyer (Jul 30, 2008)
all art is light cast against dark. Think about it. Your use of this is the reason your art is so good. I wish I had that talent.
Axil62 (Jul 30, 2008)
Thanks, pal!

some of you will be glad to know that I am in a lot of pain right now.
spyra (Aug 1, 2008)
D: I hope your eye is ok! I was confused by the floating pixels casting a shadow on your wall... and then I realized that this is unfinished. I hope there are no long-term damage to your eye!!
Axil62 (Aug 1, 2008)
Those floating pixels will be a plant. The pain is from oral surgery today. My eye is doing great. thanks. :)

Suntan (Aug 4, 2008)
I love this beautiful painting! it looks so comfy and inviting.
spyra (Aug 4, 2008)
Haha the first phrase that came to mind when I saw this was "so this is where the *magic* happens" ;)
Miss_DJ (Aug 4, 2008)
my first thought (besides that it was excellent) was, " I wonder if she made him sleep on the couch".....
Axil62 (edited Aug 4, 2008)
No, she's very sick, has been for years. That's where she likes to lay during the day when she doesn't have any energy so she can at least be around myself or others that may be visiting, instead of being alone up in our bedroom. The little twinkling lights are my interpretation of a much hoped for miracle that would make her all better.
bette_davis_eyes (Aug 4, 2008)
after reading that now it's even more beautiful .. I truly hope she gets her miracle
lori (Aug 4, 2008)
Axil, this is great, I love the "miracle" touch, would be cool to see other ways you could interpret miracles in your art
davincipoppalag (Aug 4, 2008)
I hope she gets that miracle, too.
fleeting_memory (Aug 4, 2008)
always so realistic yet painted. Wonderful picture.
Aakyra (Aug 5, 2008)
My favorite part is everything! Really I love the quilt... and the lovely touch of sparkle. If miracles happen, I am absolutely sure they would look just like this!
Anna (Aug 5, 2008)
Beautiful drawing and meaning.
DreameRadial (Aug 5, 2008)
This looks amazing. I love the lighting!
Axil62 (Aug 5, 2008)

blinx989 (Aug 6, 2008)
sorry, I thought the advanced board had better tools then the beginner for shading and what not.. I wa sjust curious to try something, i probably shouldn't have submitted that picture. Any advice on how to delete it.?
Miss_DJ (edited Aug 7, 2008)
Dan, I'm sorry. She'll be in my prayers.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Aug 13, 2008)
I love the twinkling, and I believe in miracles. I hope some happen there. This is wonderful.
TheCrimsonKing (Sep 11, 2008)
Wow Dan, This is really inspiring. You're so spot on with every detail.
Pandora (Oct 1, 2008)
Have you ever struggled trying to complete a piece. I can't imagine you have...You make me sick..lol
Axil62 (Oct 1, 2008)

Catapumblamblam (Jan 8, 2009)
You're a talent, this draw have live. Thanks for your comment!!
Roytje (Sep 28, 2009)
Best light piece I've ever seen here.
staci (Sep 28, 2009)
yeah why isnt this showcased! i demand it.
backmagicwoman (Sep 28, 2009)
Yes..absolutely...that little sparkle alone puts it in showcase quality...
staci (edited Sep 28, 2009)
mmm, idk...i think its more the detail of the rug, the shadow of the plant, some light source reflecting over the couch, the way he gave the couch such a comfy plush feeling with a few brush strokes...how if you look every line, every stroke, seems almost careless because his eye for light and form is so phenomenal, he doesnt need to second guess or overwork it.

i don't think many people can appreciate how amazing this picture is.

backmagicwoman (Sep 28, 2009)
I do see what you mean..I was just cutting up....the couch does look velvety soft...and i especailly like the vent cover there.....it does belong in showcase..
marcello (Sep 28, 2009)
staci: you answered your own question.
