Specialty Boards/Collaborations
zep and Zack (Apr 4, 2005)
where are the keys of my mecha?...

are you in the mood for a collab?
i´ve just added you right away...just in case. :)

the case is that; sagenev, huirimeir and me decided to make a book with our draws here, and i was thinking that could be nice to include a collab with you.

No need to convince me you like the picture, I can take criticism. The purple feels out of place to me for practical reasons. If you turn off the lights in your room at night and just leave the computer screen on, the projected light from the screen is generally more blueish or greenish in hue.

I think the slight pinkness of the face contrasts pretty strongly with the surrounding technology since it's the only reddish hue in the picture, and one idea with his/her suit being blueish-greenish is that he/she is being assimilated into the surrounding technology. Depth between foreground and background in this case is primarily brought about by atmospheric effect, i.e. clarity of the foreground versus the blurriness of the background.

I like the blue-green colours because they make the background cold and impassive, just like a room full of computers and spaceship controls. Probably in an emergency the room could be illuminated with a deep red colour. The purple version would probably be better if the alien was a bit more threatening and angry looking, like a Predator for example. >;)

maybe it's someone else, and he;s guapo--yeah, don;t see much HAIR ANYMORE, ANYWHERE, HA HA
Suntan (edited Mar 16, 2010)
wow, i never took this for a zep. fantastic animation and painting.
dorothyblueeyes (Mar 17, 2010)
yes, that's a very good technique to fool your brain. So that you draw what is actually there, instead of what you think is their.oh yes, that's true, he's not really that guapo.

you use the other side of the brain? you mean, just take a picture, and view it very objectively, minus any meaning to the picture? your brain just photographs it literally?
Teapot (Apr 19, 2015)
It results in forcing you to see more accurately what you're looking at rather than drawing a preconceived notion of what something looks like. Everyone does that unconsciously. I'm sure you can get 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' by Betty Edwards from your local library. http://www.amazon.com/The-Drawing-Right-Side-Brain/dp/0874774241

Such imagination.. and talent.. it's nice this picture made it to the showcase Zep but I still think all of your pictures belong in a gallery.

toret paper!
Cordelia_Pink (Feb 7, 2005)
heh Now I see why the mods picked this. But I've noticed that no one ever mentioned the word "personality" contained in this picture besides just mood. It's like looking at a painting and it's the use of colors and the brush strokes that makes it look different from all other pictures I've seen. I like looking at complex pictures but the fact that this picture determines the mood of a person is really neat. And this also proves how broad art is and that creativity isn't always the key to a masterpiece. Keep up the good work.

i luv it so much that i am too busy with other stuff to explain why i like it so much. because right now my grandma is yelling at me! she is telling me that i need to take out the trash and wash the dishes and clean her room and clean the bathroom and all the other stuff a teenager has to do! i have no time at all to tell you why i like this drawing so much because i have all these chores to do! i am so sorry i wish i could tell you! oh no! my grandma is coming with the knife! "not the knife!" i scream but her hand is raised above her head and she is about to plunge it in msikl denbskjlbgsldf
