some of my earliest memories involve lying on the living room floor and watching star trek: tng with my mom and brother. it probably explains a lot.worked a lot harder on this than i was planning to, but i had fun. |

when the poorly drawn godzilla started to growl at her, she began to wonder if maybe she shouldn't have eaten the funny-looking mushroom....i don't really know what she's got in her right hand there. in my head i kept calling it a 'continuum transfunctioner.' i think i pulled that phrase from kingdom of loathing, but i'm not sure.
Deino (Apr 15, 2007)
Maybe she has a peyote in her hands, that would explain her visions.
Klibese (Apr 15, 2007)
I read "Don't give up" and automatically think "Trust your instincts!" every time. I played waaaayy too much Star Fox 64 all those years ago...That said, very interesting picture. There's something about the coloring of the wall and her face that stands out. |

the coolest pianist ever. i kinda miss himhis website and the reference for this picture is www.thomasfielding.org note- please leave comments. this isn't my usual style (i usually don't... you know... make an effort) and i really would like to improve and branch out. so help me out, people. i know, lazy background, whatever
davincipoppalag (Apr 5, 2006)
I think it's a good start. I don't know how to help except to say there are links to lots of tutorials in the forums that talk about drawing faces, hair etc...have you looked at those?
Opium (Apr 6, 2006)
It is a very good start! I would only say more shadows on the face and head, and soften out the lines if you want realism. There aren't many definite lines in a face or shirt, more of shadows. You have the right idea though!
Coeur-joie (Dec 29, 2006)
I heard from an artist I admired once that bald people are the hardest to draw. I find them more fun, personally. Kudos. |

"Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or an english toffee but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth-shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is an empty box filled with useless brown paper wrappers."- Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man edit- seriously, nobody ever watched the X-Files?
Gemmy619 (May 26, 2006)
Cool draw, i like it :)

So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth-shattering nuts. Texas State penitentiary much?

I think you have some good beginnings here. I am responding here to your request for comments on your last picture. My first reaction to your style is the use of both line and "paint" I think you should tone back your lines a little... and be more tentative as to where you use them. Line that folows the form is most effective, and should not stand out more than the content of the picture (if you know what I mean). In otherwords... youre letting the line speak too much, and your use of it is not making sense. For example, the scribbly line on the palm of the hand. This style of art can be very effective, but you need to refine it just a bit.... think about where you are placing your lines and why. You have an excellent sense of form. Use the line to bring that out! You asked for a comment and got an earful! :) |

Knockoff (Mar 8, 2005)
Ah! Don't give up now! This is turning out great. (This reminds me of a painting I did, of a girl biting here fingernail.) Right now, it has more of a painter-ly style to it, more solid colors than water color. The teeth are seksie, and proportions look pretty good (upper lip could be a tad smaller). The finger look good. Thats something I cannot draw on the computer, silly fingers. I can't tell you much more, since its not done, but please, finish it, for me!? :D
taori (Mar 9, 2005)
awww, KO. i promise i'll finish it as soon as my tablet stops being a bitch. :)updating so i can delete
