showcase please.

Very beautiful. The colours are so lovely and her expression is compelling--I get a sense of worry or indecision. The only thing I might suggest working on is the dark shadow above her eyelid--if you could soften the edge of that to give the impression of a smoother increase in the roundness of the bone structure just below the eyebrow.

Comes a time when you look back. I remember times before I discovered this site and many many more before it, before the internet at all, and my life had more quality. I spent my time persuing other intrests but I had balance. It seems to me that this has become an addiction, make no mistake, every bit of an addiction as drugs or alcohole ever were. I have a compulsive personality and when I find something I like, I tend to become obsessed and it consumes my thoughts and time. My family, my self image, my quality of life have all suffered as a result. I know how much I disliked it whenever someone would write a note and say goodbye and I swore I would never do that, that if it ever came my time to go I would simply go. And of course there is always the risk of making a fool of yourself by doing this and then comming back. We'll see. A fond farewell to you Marcello, and everyone with whom I've come to know or interact with. Wish me luck.

Dan

This fills me with great sadness, but I think I understand it. Your reasons for doing it are just one of the many reasons I have always admired you not just as an artist, but as a man of great character. I hope there will come a time (soon) when you find it comfortable to be here to share your beautiful expressions of art with us. I, for one, am willing to wait patiently to see you here again.
stuartlittle64 (Aug 5, 2005)
I, too, was one who came to your site every day just to see your wonderful art. I loved the diversity, the willingness to try so many types of expression, and always the greatness (and sometime silliness) of your thoughts which accompanied the art. You think deeply, love deeply, and I know you will continue making hard decisions based on your tenacity to endure and improve. You've been there, and you're going on. Bless you on the journey. Your life has made a difference to me. May I give you a standing ovation?

Photo ref. from a photo I took of one of the corner places in my house.

One time when I was 17 I got a job as a plumbers apprentice, and we drove to Medicine Bow Wyoming to do a job there for two weeks. My boss's name was Frank Early. He Drank every night and was an asshole in the morning because he always had a hangover. One morning he told me to get him some kind of wrench (probably a spanner) and I didnt hear him very well, but I didnt want to ask what kind because he had a hangover and he was in a pissy mood. So I took a guess and grabbed the wrong one and he said "God Damn it! ya act like ya just came in off a fuckin load of hay!" So I threw my shovel down and said "fuck you Frank" and I walked back to the motel and got my suitcase and walked out to the highway and hitched all the way back to Cheyenne. On the way while I was walking on the highway (I had to walk all day untill it got dark before I got a ride) I found a bottle of vodka in the ditch, so I stuck it in my bag. When I got to Cheyenne, I drank most of it and woke up on my friends back porch with my long hair glued to the cement by my puke, flies buzzing around, dehydrated, sick and weak, sun beating down on me. Thought I was going to die.

I have two antique vanities, but the mirrors are both square. I love them, and I like this picture very much. I hope you washed your hair after that.

Oooo. I love the way you've mixed the desaturated tones of the hat and her skin with the supersaturated colours of her lips, her kimono and the background. The hat is *ahem* well, dammit, amazing. Love the tension in the chin strap/skin and the way you've just managed to hide her eyes from the viewer...so we're always trying to peer up under the edge of the hat. Critiques? Hmmm. That gorgeous bouncelight underneath her chin makes me wish there was a tiny bit of shine on the skin of her cheek. But's that nitpicking. I love this.
comd (Mar 19, 2006)
It's insane how much subtle texture is in the skin here. I can't begin to imagine how to do this with lascaux sketch, and it'd still be incredible regardless of the medium.

It's so effective to leave the hair and dress less detailed. One of my favourite painting styles--a mixture of impressionism and realism. When it works, as this does, I think there is no painting style more beautiful. Looking at these purples and orange/golds together is a sensory treat.

Yes, please, size 7 !/2. And, do they come in RED? Those patten leather highlights and the way you've done the floor make me giddy.
