I just signed up here on 2Draw...I've been drawing on PaintBBS fer a while tho, but I decided to draw on the Beginner's board b/c I don't really know the requirements for this site so yeah.I sketched this out in study hall on riday and decided to draw it on here...I actually kinda like it =^-^= So yeah...*skips away to go look at everybodies purrdy pics*

VERY good for PaintBBS. I think you should use something more advanced, like the Shi-painter, maybe you'll do even better with that! The character could maybe use a bit more shading. The background's l337.
marcello (Jan 10, 2004)
it looks like that evil android chick from mahoromatic...but ya, it's good for paintbbs, but neko, there was a time when paintbbs was the best applet around and everyone was drawing stuff like this in it. the only thing that bugs me is the separation between the background and the character. |

Started out as a quick sketch, but I ended up putting a bit of time into it...Also this is my first sketch with my new tablet ^^ Also my first intermediate submission.Overall I'm pretty happy with my first tablet sketch, I really like the character that came out of it..he's awesome(odd, but awesome) P.S. Might sketch in a B/G later. (thanks for the advice Cello)
marcello (Jan 10, 2004)
I think it looks pretty good as is. further shading might even detract.interesting character design
Childlike_Vampire (Jan 10, 2004)
It looks like a nice dark pencil drawing, even a sharpened charcoal sketch. I like very very. *gets her socks knocked off* |

this is a deffinite shot in the dark...but i have to ask just in case.. I've been working on a picture since about 9pm last night and i had the window on float. I accidentally closed the original window and when i hit dock, the whole freaking thing dissapeared and my 10 hour drawing along with it. Is there no way at all to get it back? This has so ruined my night -_- these kind of places always confuse me and just when i get the hang of it...I lose something relatively good. Someo...

Vash (Jan 9, 2004)
i would hafta say this is your best.but whats with the grey spots?
furyofroy (Jan 9, 2004)
Why is there gray lineart mixed with the black? With Lascaux, making a layer for coloring is simple. You press the little button that looks like a white square on the layer menu to your left. And then, to make the layer transparent, Turn that specific layer's option to "Multiply". Then, when you color on that new layer, the coloring will go through the lineart, so that you don't have to work around it. Clear?
marcello (Jan 10, 2004)
um, just a side note, you don't need to do the whole multiply stuff to make a layer transparent, it's already transparent by default. Provided you use the eraser tool and not a white brush to erase, it'll be transparent (even the lowest layer is transparent).

a quick sketch - I wanted to edit the image - but I had reached the 200kb limit?
marcello (Jan 9, 2004)
the beginner board has a low file size limit to keep the number of revisions/edits down, I suggest posting in the intermediate board if you plan to put multiple edits into a file.
furyofroy (Jan 9, 2004)
Wicked. :) Incredibly cool.
cmb (Jan 10, 2004)
Thank you Marcello for the information- I will do a couple more here- then look at intermediate. I want to be good enough so that I fit in with the other artists here. I had done the whole image without editing- it was my first attempt to edit it- but since I draw freehand does that affect the amount of work I can do on the images?
marcello (Jan 10, 2004)
A number of things will affect the size of the file, the canvas size, the number of layers, number of colors, number of solid colors vs individual. On lascaux, all the layers are saved in a lossless format, so each layer adds to the size (you can merge layers to reduce size a bit) |

This is my first time using an online paint program. Sorry it isn't that creative or good, but I'll learn. :) I'm no good at shading, so any advice would help.
RabidMalikFanGirl (Jan 9, 2004)
Nice eyes ^^ Good for your first time, for shading, try using the dodge and burn tool. They're very useful :)Background needs something in it but a good start. BTW, Welcome to 2draw!
Gothic_Otaku (Jan 9, 2004)
Using the dodge/blur tools aren't always useful. Using lighter or darker hues is more convenient, and you can control how light or how dark the shading is. The dodge/burn tools are better reserved for shiny things.
furyofroy (Jan 9, 2004)
It can be easy to overdo the dodge/burn, so sometimes it's easier just to lower or heighten the RGB color variability by about 20 notches. Then you have some control over your shading.
marcello (Jan 10, 2004)
Or in the case of lascaux, just use the color selector, it automatically has the full range of lights and darks of the color you have selected. |

Wow, awesome contrast, this is really cool.

Shibby and shagadelic. That lil' blow of smoke coming out from his mouth is my favorite part of the picture. |

This is the basic Idea for the drawing, don't revise just yet, I'l finish it tommorow when my mouse is working better. This is my character which has no name yet......she is a half demon, and has a tail, fangs, the whole kit and kaboodle, except she isn't a furry. I have t get off the computer now, because of my parents >.<

– latest 4:edit: neds a bg. still unfinished.
marcello (Jan 9, 2004)
nice bg, but it doesn't really match the lighting on the figure. Perhaps if you added more blues and darkened the character a bit (the low-contrast on the character works well, however).
Knockoff (Jan 9, 2004)
Meh I was going to do something .... but yet I didnt know what. Its nice to see it done. Marcello- Yea I wasn't really thinking of light sorce, thanks for the tips though.! Though the layers got a little screwy around the charater.

Very nice, although the backside is nice a smooth and looks like fur, but other parts of the outline are kind of pixelated. Great so far!! ^_^
