marcello (Dec 14, 2003)
gotta hate when pictures like this get lost in the masses, I'm surprised at the lack of comments.
good stuff, welcome to 2draw.
DieChan (Dec 14, 2003)
It's a really good first picture. I like it. What's she blushing at? Hope you like it at 2draw!

I was experimenting with the water-color tool. Impressionistic style art with a lighthouse on a hill and a beach.

Needs a little bit of help on the cliffs, and maybe I should just let everyone else criticize my art.

looks nice. what's the thing in the top-right. it looks like it can't decide what or where exactly it is (more definition perhaps?)
Lalaland (Dec 15, 2003)
this is sooooo awsome! you should move onto intermediate!!!!!! I luv it!!!!!
Coolsoft (edited Dec 19, 2003)
Marcello: It's a lighthouse, but I didn't make the drawing larger so that the top could be seen because there would be too much sky in the picture. I probably don't draw stuff quite clear enough because I'm near-sighted.
Alicia (Feb 8, 2004)
I like the blended warm colors that project through this pic. The light house reminded me of a column left behind in Roman times.

Maiko (Dec 14, 2003)
Kyaaaah >< this is so cute
*glomps teh kitty boi*
tee hee, poor fhing ^^
Neko (Dec 14, 2003)
Don't know if lemonade will sell during winter.

The lineart of the character looks a lot better than the background or the box he's leaning on. Objects are hard to draw~.

Normally I'd delete this, but I didn't want Marcello's comment to go down with it.

P.S. It's a mess.

My CRKT folding knife glows funky blue in the monitor light.

it has a background.
Parelis (Dec 13, 2003)
I actaully was going to draw it sitting on my tablet, but I decided to just add the shadow and move on to other things. It would look nicer with something in the BG and with that scribble gone, but I was really just interested in trying to replicate the effect of multiple light sources on metal. I'm happy with what I did in that respect, and learned a bit more about using the app.
MC.Cracka (Dec 14, 2003)
completely KICK ASS, but the bolt on the top of the blade is transparent.
mikhail (Dec 21, 2003)
hah. i have that same knife, except its not two-tone, very nice...

finished I guess... though there is still a little bit of ghost shading around the edges and depth highlights...
JesusFreak89 (Dec 11, 2003)
sorry I couldn't do anything
MC.Cracka (Dec 12, 2003)
good rock feel and shading, might want to fix up the lines though
Coolsoft (Dec 13, 2003)
I do want to, but I set it to finished already. And I really don't want to fix every single flaw in it, at that rate, it would take forever.

Ooh veddy nice boobage *lick*
Is her neck too short? prolly just me. Niiice shading as well. *nodnod*
Welcome ^^
Parelis (edited Dec 11, 2003)
Thanks for the warm welcome! To respond to you all:
Lascaux is a sweet app, I was just referring to oekaki in general; I'd never tried it before and didn't realize how a few pixels made such a huge difference when you've only got a 300x300 space to work with. I've got even more respect for the people who do amazing things on these boards now.

I'm still feeling out how things work here, so I figured I'd submit this to beginner to be safe. I'm glad you think it's good enough for a higher level board.

Her neck seems kinda wide now that you mention it. That's one of the things you stop noticing when you stare at something for an hour straight I guess.
furyofroy (Dec 11, 2003)
I think her neck is the right size; the furry collar just makes it seem a little thick.
Neko (Dec 13, 2003)
Mm, makes justice to Felicia.

For all of you who are familiar with J-rock, I present to you, Die from Dir en Grey. I tried to get the text to show up, but it wouldn't, so I had to write it in. And would someone please tell me what a tablet is and why everyone makes a big deal over using a mouse to draw? That's what I do.... Anyway, I liked how this turned out. I tried to work up a different bg but it turned out like this.

Having a tablet is like having an orgasm, only ten times better. It's just like drawing on a normal sheet of paper. It's a little board you hook up to your computer, with a little pen, and when you write on the board, the cursor moves across the screen. People hate mouses so much because it's a very detached way of drawing; Like shouting through a sound-proof wall.
Harmanye (Dec 10, 2003)
Hate mouses? Pfft, I'm hoping for a tablet, but I love my mousey-kins, and I hope I'm half-way decent wiith it.
Anyway, the eyes are cute, I don't know anything about Dir en Grey, but my parents have locked me in the proverbial basement, so to speak, still very cool, love the redness.
marcello (Dec 10, 2003)
I wish people would stop complaining so much about mice. I find some things are actually much easier with a mouse (like clean lineart). I must say though, the mouse on a tablet is really nice, really precise, lightweight, and no wire.
Shuichi-chan (Dec 12, 2003)
YAY!!! I like this!! Moo...*gets chibified* can you make kyou and karu and toshiya too!? And if you like malice mizer, can ya do chibified kami (may his soul rest in peace) ^_^ you have mad chibi skillz! Die rocks tho!!! Vulgar cd rawks!!

I had the worst night ever at work. When you work in a copy shop, it's really difficult to please customers when your copier is broken.
Since it's the 'shopping' season, I'll rant:
If you are a person who yells at an employee of wherever you're shopping, SHAME ON YOU. They just WORK there. They don't decide the prices, the don't install stupid software into the self-serve copiers, they don't BREAK the copiers just so you can't get what you want. Oh, and I'm sorry I can't run your 500 copies RIGHT NOW, but there's a million other jobs in front of it. Someone got here before you and ordered 15,000 copies, which is running right now. TOO BAD. DON'T YELL AT ME FOR THINGS THAT ARE NOT MY FAULT.
Oh, and don't expect me to agree with you that since we're in "America," people should speak "American." I'm supposed to be nice to customers, otherwise I'd tell you what I really thought, you racist bigot.
*die*

Word. As a veteran of customer service, I throw up the horns to you. Rock.

As for the picture, methinks I like the smugly satisfied look on their face. And the lack of nose is fun. ^^
marcello (Dec 10, 2003)
I really need to fix that ugly-as-hell quote block. :)
Deformed (Dec 10, 2003)
that is awsome! I likes the expression on his? face.
Krystiana (edited Dec 10, 2003)
Marcello - I did kick the copier last night, and hurt my foot... but no hole. And smoke can come out of a copier - I've seen it happen. (And it was the technician trying to fix it that made it happen. Our technicians are not smart... 'cept for the color copier tech. The B/W techs stink at their job.)
Rikku - I'm a girl... I just happen to like drawing myself with a serious lack of breasts. And my work shirt makes it look like that, too. -_- I'm growing out my hair after having it be short for five years, so it really does look weird.
